And when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly a sound came out of heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

And suddenly, there came a sound from heaven, like that of a wind approaching violently, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation of those under heaven.

Now there were Jews staying in Jerusalem, pious men from every nation that is under heaven.

And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because they were hearing each one speaking in his own language.

And as the sound took place, all the people gathered together, and they were confused because every man heard them speak in his own language.

And they were all amazed and were marveling, saying to one another, "Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

Then all were astonished, and they wondered, saying: “Behold, are not all of these who are speaking Galileans?

And how [is it that] we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?

And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born?

How is it that we hear every man in our own native language?

Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

ParÆthi-ans and Medes and EÆlam-ites and those who dwell in Mes-o-po-taÆmi-a, Jews and Cap-pa-doÆci-ans and those from Pontus and Asia Minor,

10  Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya toward Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

10  And those from the region of PhrygÆi-a and of Pam-phylÆi-a and of Egypt, and of the regions of LibÆy-a near Cy-reÆne, and those who have come from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

11  Cretans and Arabs-we hear them speaking in our own tongues the mighty [deeds] of God."

11  likewise Jews and new converts, Cretans and Arabs: we have heard them speaking in our own languages the mighty deeds of God.”

11  And those from Crete, and Arabians, behold we hear them speak in our own tongues of the wonderful works of God.

12  So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What might this mean?"

12  And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13  Others were mocking and saying, "They are full of new wine."

13  But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.
