2 in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now working in the sons of disobedience,
2 wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience;
2 In which you previously walked according to the worldly course of this world, and according to the will of the supreme ruler of the air, the spirit which is active in the children of disobedience.
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the senses, and were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest.
3 And we too were all conversant in these things, in times past, by the desires of our flesh, acting according to the will of the flesh and according to our own thoughts. And so we were, by nature, sons of wrath, even like the others.
3 In those very deeds in which we were also corrupted from the very beginning through the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the wills of the flesh and of the mind: thereby we became completely the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
4 Yet still, God, who is rich in mercy, for the sake of his exceedingly great charity with which he loved us,
5 even when we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,
6 And he has raised us up together, and he has caused us to sit down together in the heavens, in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
7 so that he may display, in the ages soon to arrive, the abundant wealth of his grace, by his goodness toward us in Christ Jesus.
7 In the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Jesus Christ.
8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God,
8 For it is by grace that you are saved through faith; not of your doing: it is the gift of God
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
9 And this is not of works, so that no one may glory.
10 For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
