30  This is the [One] about whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who ranks before me, because He was before me.'

30  This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man who is become before me: for he was before me.

31  "I did not know Him; but that He should be made manifest to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water."

31  And I did not know him. Yet it is for this reason that I come baptizing with water: so that he may be made manifest in Israel.”

31  And I did not know him; but that he might be made known to Israel, I came to baptize with water.

32  And John testified, saying, "I have beheld the Spirit coming down from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

32  And John bare witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven; and it abode upon him.

33  I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending and abiding on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

33  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

33  And I did not know him. But he who sent me to baptize with water said to me: ‘He over whom you will see the Spirit descending and remaining upon him, this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

34  "And I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God."

34  And I saw, and I gave testimony: that this one is the Son of God.”
