6 He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it and found none.
6 And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none.
6 And he also told this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree, which was planted in his vineyard. And he came seeking fruit on it, but found none.
7 Then he said to the vinedresser, 'Look, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and I haven't found [any]. Cut it down; why does it even waste the ground?'
8 But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
8 And he answering saith unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it
8 The laborer said to him, My lord, let it remain this year also, until I work it and fertilize it.
9 And if it produces fruit, [fine]. But if not, in the coming [year,] you can cut it down.' "
9 and if it bear fruit thenceforth, [well]; but if not, thou shalt cut it down.
9 It might bear fruit; and if not, then you can cut it down.
