40  So it was, when Jesus returned, that the crowd welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him.

40  And as Jesus returned, the multitude welcomed him; for they were all waiting for him.

40  Now it happened that, when Jesus had returned, the crowd received him. For they were all waiting for him.

41  And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a leader of the synagogue. And falling at the feet of Jesus, he was imploring Him to enter into his house,

41  And a man named Jairus, a leader of the synagogue, fell at the feet of Jesus, and besought him to enter into his house.

42  for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as He was going, the crowds were pressing against Him.

42  For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43  Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who though she had spent [her] whole livelihood on physicians, was not able to be healed by anyone,

43  And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed of any,

43  And there was a certain woman, with a flow of blood for twelve years, who had paid out all her substance on physicians, and she was unable to be cured by any of them.

44  approaching from behind, touched the hem of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

44  She approached him from behind, and she touched the hem of his garment. And at once the flow of her blood stopped.

44  She came near him from behind, and touched the edge of his cloak; and immediately her hemorrhage stopped.

45  And Jesus said, "Who touched Me?"When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, "Master, the crowds are pressing You hard and crowding You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?'

45  And Jesus said, Who is it that touched me? And when all denied, Peter said, and they that were with him, Master, the multitudes press thee and crush [thee].

45  And Jesus said, “Who is it that touched me?” But as everyone was denying it, Peter, and those who were with him, said: “Teacher, the crowd hems you in and presses upon you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ”

46  But Jesus said, "Someone touched Me, for I perceived that power has gone out from Me."

46  And Jesus said: “Someone has touched me. For I know that power has gone out from me.”

46  But he said, Some one has touched me, for I know that power has gone out of me.

47  Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she recounted to Him before all the people the reason why she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

47  Then the woman, upon seeing that she was not hidden, came forward, trembling, and she fell down before his feet. And she declared before all the people the reason that she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.

47  When the woman saw that she could not deceive him, she came trembling, and fell down and worshipped him; and she said in the presence of all the people for what purpose she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48  And He said to her, "Take courage, daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

48  But he said to her: “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

49  While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, "Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Teacher."

49  While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue`s [house], saying, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Teacher.

50  But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, "Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be healed."

50  Then Jesus, upon hearing this word, replied to the father of the girl: “Do not be afraid. Only believe, and she will be saved.”

51  When He came into the house, He permitted no one to enter except Peter, John, and James, and the father and mother of the child.

51  And when he came to the house, he suffered not any man to enter in with him, save Peter, and John, and James, and the father of the maiden and her mother.

51  Jesus came into the house, and he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Simon and James and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

52  Now all were weeping and mourning for her; but He said, "Do not weep; she is not dead, but asleep."

52  And all were weeping, and bewailing her: but he said, Weep not; for she is not dead, but sleepeth.

52  And all of them were weeping and mourning over her; but Jesus said, Do not weep, for she is not dead but asleep.

53  And they were ridiculing Him, knowing that she had died.

53  And they laughed at him, for they knew that she was dead.

54  But He sent them all outside, and having grasped her hand, He called, saying, "Child, arise."

54  But he, taking her by the hand, called, saying, Maiden, arise.

54  Then he put everybody out, and held her by her hand, and called her, and said, Little girl, arise.

55  Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded [something] to be given to her to eat.

55  And her spirit returned, and she immediately rose up. And he ordered them to give her something to eat.

55  And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

56  And her parents were amazed, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.
