27  Then they came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking about in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him.

27  And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders;

28  And they said to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?"

28  And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

29  But Jesus answered and said to them, "I also will ask you one thing, and you answer Me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things

29  And Jesus said unto them, I will ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

29  Jesus said to them, I will also ask you a word to tell me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

30  The baptism of John-was it from heaven or from men? Answer Me."

30  Whence is the baptism of John, from heaven, or from men? Tell me.

31  And they were debating among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?'

31  But they discussed it among themselves, saying: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

31  And they reasoned among themselves and said, If we should say to him, from heaven, he will say to us, Why then did you not believe him?

32  "But should we say, 'From men' "-they feared the people, for all had counted John to have been a prophet indeed.

32  If we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the people. For they all hold that John was a true prophet.”

32  And if we should say, from men, there is the fear of the people, for all of them regard John as a true prophet.

33  And answering they said to Jesus, "We do not know."And Jesus answered and said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things."

33  And they answered Jesus and say, We know not. And Jesus saith unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

33  So they answered and said to Jesus, We do not know. He said to them, I will also not tell you by what authority I do these things.
