And while He was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as He was reclining for a meal, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly pure nard. And having broken the flask, she began to pour it out over His head.

When he was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, while he reclined, there came a woman who had with her an alabaster vessel of perfume of pure nard, of good quality and very expensive; and she opened it, and poured it upon the head of Jesus.

But some were expressing indignation to one another and saying, "Why has this waste of the perfume occurred?

But there were some that had indignation among themselves, [saying], To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made?

And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

For it was possible [for] this to be sold for more than three hundred denarii, and to be given to the poor."And they were scolding her.

For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

For it could have been sold for more than three hundred pennies and given to the poor. So they annoyed her.

But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has worked a beautiful work for Me.

Jesus said, Leave her alone; why do you trouble her? She has done a good work to me.

For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you are able to do them good; but you do not always have Me.

For ye have the poor always with you, and whensoever ye will ye can do them good: but me ye have not always.

This [woman] did what she could; she undertook beforehand to anoint My body for burial.

She hath done what she could; she hath anointed my body beforehand for the burying.

But she has done what she could. She has arrived in advance to anoint my body for burial.

And assuredly I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman did will also be spoken as a memorial of her."

And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

Amen I say to you, wherever this Gospel shall be preached throughout the entire world, the things she has done also shall be told, in memory of her.”
