1  A Song of Ascents; of David. YHWH, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in things too great, or in things too wonderful for me.

1  A Canticle in steps: of David. O Lord, my heart has not been exalted, and my eyes have not been raised up. Neither have I walked in greatness, nor in wonders beyond me.

1  LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I deal in great matters, nor in things too high for me.

2  Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother; my soul is with me like a weaned child.

2  I shall have sinned if I have not been humble, but have exulted my soul: according to the relation of a weaned child to his mother, so wilt thou recompense my soul.

2  When I was not humble in thought, then I lifted up my soul. Like one who has been weaned from his mother, so was I recompensed in my soul.

3  O Israel, hope in YHWH from this time forth and for ever.

3  Let Israel hope in the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.
