Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the heads of fathers' houses and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers that served the king, in any matter of the courses which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.

Now the sons of Israel according to their number, heads of families, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and scribes ministering to the king, and for every affair of the king according to their divisions, for every ordinance of coming in and going out monthly, for all the months of the year, one division of them was twenty-four thousand.

Now the sons of Israel, according to their number, the leaders of the families, the tribunes, and the centurions, and the chiefs, who were ministering to the king by their companies, entering and departing in each month of the year as they were in charge, were twenty-four thousand.

Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

And over the first division of the first month was Isboaz the son of Zabdiel: in his division were twenty-four thousand.

Jashobeam, the son of Zabdiel, was in charge of the first company in the first month; and under him were twenty-four thousand.

Of the children of Perez was he, and the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.

He was from the sons of Perez, and he was the leader of all the other leaders in the army, in the first month.

And over the course of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his course, and Mikloth the ruler; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

And over the division of the second month was Dodia the son of Ecchoc, and over his division was Makelloth also chief: and in his division were twenty and four thousand, chief men of the host.

The company of the second month had Dodai, an Ahohite; and after him there was another, named Mikloth, who ruled over a portion of the army of the twenty-four thousand.

The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the priest, chief; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

The third for the third month was Banaias the son of Jodae the chief priest: and in his division were twenty and four thousand.

Also, the commander of the third company, in the third month, was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest; and in his division there were twenty-four thousand.

This is that Benaiah, who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty; and of his course was Ammizabad his son.

This Banaeas was more mighty than the thirty, and over the thirty: and Zabad his son was over his division.

This is the Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and in command of the thirty officers; and in his division was Mizbar his son.

The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

10  The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

11  The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

11  The eighth for the eighth month was Sobochai the Usathite, belonging to Zarai: and in his division were twenty and four thousand.

12  The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

12  The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer of Anathoth, of the land of Benjamin: and in his division were twenty and four thousand.

13  The tenth captain for the tenth month was Mahrai, the Netophathite, of the Zerahites; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

13  The tenth for the tenth month was Meera the Netophathite, belonging to Zarai: and in his division were twenty and four thousand.

14  The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

15  The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

16  Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler; of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah;

16  And over the tribes of Israel, the chief for Ruben was Eliezer the son of Zechri: for Symeon, Saphatias the son of Maacha

16  Now those who were first over the tribes of Israel were these: over the Reubenites, Eliezer, the son of Zichri, was the ruler; over the Simeonites, Shephatiah, the son of Maacah, was the ruler;

17  of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; of Aaron, Zadok;

17  for Levi, Asabias the son of Camuel: for Aaron, Sadoc

20  for Ephraim, Ose the son of Ozia: for the half-tribe of Manasse, Joel the son of Phadaea

21  of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner;

21  for the half-tribe of Manasse in the land of Galaad, Jadai the son of Zadaeas, for the sons of Benjamin, Jasiel the son of Abenner

21  and over the one half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo, the son of Zechariah; then over Benjamin, Jaasiel, the son of Abner;

22  of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

22  for Dan, Azariel the son of Iroab: these are the chiefs of the tribes of Israel.

22  yet truly, Azarel, the son of Jeroham, was over Dan. These were the leaders of the sons of Israel.

23  But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under; because YHWH had said He would increase Israel like to the stars of heaven.

24  Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but finished not; and there came wrath for this upon Israel; neither was the number put into the account in the chronicles of king David.

24  And Joab the son of Saruia began to number the people, and did not finish the work, for there was hereupon wrath on Israel; and the number was not recorded in the book of the chronicles of king David.

24  Joab, the son of Zeruiah, had begun to number, but he did not finish. For because of this, wrath had fallen upon Israel. And therefore the number of those who had been counted was not related in the official records of king David.

25  And over the king's treasuries was Azmaveth the son of Adiel; and over the treasuries in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;

25  Now over the storerooms of the king was Azmaveth, the son of Adiel. But Jonathan, the son of Uzziah, was over those storerooms that were in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers.

26  and over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub;

26  And over the husbandmen who tilled the ground was Esdri the son of Chelub.

26  And over the farmlands and the farmers, those who worked the ground, was Ezri, the son of Chelub.

27  and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; and over the increase of the vineyards for the wine-cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite;

27  And over the fields was Semei of Rael; and over the treasures of wine in the fields was Zabdi the son of Sephni.

27  And over the cultivators of vineyards was Shimei, a Ramathite; then over the wine cellars was Zabdi, an Aphonite.

28  and over the olive-trees and the sycomore-trees that were in the Lowland was Baal-hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash;

28  Now over the olive groves and the fig groves, which were in the plains, was Baal-hanan, a Gederite; and over the oil cellars was Joash.

29  and over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shirtai the Sharonite; and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai;

29  And over the oxen pasturing in Saron was Satrai the Saronite; and over the oxen in the valleys was Sophat the son of Adli.

29  Now over the herds that were pastured in Sharon, Shitrai, a Sharonite, was in the first place; and over the oxen in the valleys, there was Shaphat, the son of Adlai.

30  and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite;

30  Truly, over the camels was Obil, an Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah, a Meronothite.

31  and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.

31  And over the sheep was Jaziz the Agarite. All these were superintendents of the substance of king David.

32  Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counsellor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons;

32  And Jonathan, David’s uncle by the father’s side, was a counsellor, a wise man: and Jeel the son of Achami was with the king’s sons.

32  Now Jonathan, the uncle of David, was a counselor, a prudent and scholarly man; he and Jehiel, the son of Hachmoni, were with the sons of the king.

33  and Ahithophel was the king's counsellor; and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend;

33  Achitophel was the king’s counsellor: and Chusi the chief friend of the king.

33  Now Ahithophel was the counselor of the king; and Hushai, the Archite, was the king’s friend.

34  and after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar; and the captain of the king's host was Joab.

34  And after this Achitophel Jodae the son of Banaeas came next, and Abiathar: and Joab was the king’s commander-in-chief.

34  After Ahithophel was Jehoiada, the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. But the leader of the army of the king was Joab.
