1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I should write to you.
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For you yourselves know accurately that the day of YHWH so comes as a thief in the night.
2 For you yourselves thoroughly understand that the day of the Lord shall arrive much like a thief in the night.
3 For when they say, "Peace and safety!"then sudden destruction comes upon them, just as labor pains upon the woman that is pregnant, and they shall by no means escape.
3 When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
5 You are all the children of light, and the children of the day; and you are not the children of the night, nor the children of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those[ ]getting drunk, are drunk at night.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night: and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But we, since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
8 But we, who are of the daylight, should be sober, being clothed with the breastplate of faith and of charity and having, as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
8 But let us who are the children of the day, be alert, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and for a helmet put on the hope of salvation.
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to [the] obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 who died for us, in order that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
11 Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.
11 Because of this, console one another and build up one another, just as you are doing.
12 And we request of you, brothers, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in YHWH and instruct you,
12 But we beseech you, brethren, to know them that labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 and to regard them beyond all measure in love, because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
13 so that you may consider them with an abundance of charity, for the sake of their work. Be at peace with them.
13 That you esteem them very highly in love, and be at peace with them for their workÆs sake.
14 Now we exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the discouraged, be supportive of the weak, be patient toward all.
14 And we ask you, brothers: correct the disruptive, console the weak-minded, support the sick, be patient with everyone.
14 Now we beseech you, my brethren, correct those who offend, comfort those who lack courage, bear the burdens of the weak, and be patient toward all men.
15 See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue that which is good, both for one another and for all.
15 See that none render unto any one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all.
15 See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone. Instead, always pursue whatever is good, with one another and with all.
16 Rejoice always!
16 Be joyful always.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing!
18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.
19 Do not choose to extinguish the Spirit.
20 Do not despise prophecies.
20 despise not prophesyings;
21 But test all things; hold fast that which is good.
21 prove all things; hold fast that which is good;
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
23 Now [may] the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
23 And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
23 And may the God of peace himself sanctify you through all things, so that your whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved without blame unto the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do [this].
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.
24 He who has called you is faithful. He shall act even now.
25 Brothers, pray for us.
25 My brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
26 Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 I adjure you by YHWH [for] this letter to be read to all the holy brothers.
27 I bind you, through the Lord, that this epistle is to be read to all the holy brothers.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
