Then, too, whoever strives in a competition is not crowned, unless he has competed lawfully.

19  Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.

19  But the firm foundation of God remains standing, having this seal: the Lord knows those who are his own, and all who know the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.

25  in meekness instructing those that oppose, if God perhaps may give them repentance, to a full knowledge of the truth,

25  correcting with self-restraint those who resist the truth. For at any time God may give them repentance, so as to recognize the truth,

25  So that he may discipline gently those who argue against him; and perhaps God will grant them repentance and they will know the truth

3:5  having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from these people turn away!

3:16  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

4:1  I charge you therefore before God and YHWH Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead in accordance with His appearing and His kingdom

4:4  and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.

and certainly, they will turn their hearing away from the truth, and they will be turned toward fables.

4:5  You however be watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

But as for you, truly, be vigilant, laboring in all things. Do the work of an Evangelist, fulfilling your ministry. Show self-restraint.

4:6  For I am already being poured out [as a drink offering], and the time of my departure has arrived.

From henceforth I am ready to die, and the time of my departure is at hand.

4:8  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which YHWH, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not only to me, but also to all those who have loved His appearing.

henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.

As for the remainder, a crown of justice has been reserved for me, one which the Lord, the just judge, will render to me in that day, and not only to me, but also to those who look forward to his return. Hurry to return to me soon.
