Deuteronomy 11:0; 10:1–16:22

M S Sam

At that time YHWH said unto me: 'Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto Me into the mount; and make thee an ark of wood.

At that time the Lord said to me, Hew for thyself two stone tables as the first, and come up to me into the mountain, and thou shalt make for thyself an ark of wood.

M G V S Sam

And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which thou didst break, and thou shalt put them in the ark.'

So I made an ark of acacia-wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.

And so, I made an ark of setim wood. And when I had hewn two tablets of stone like the former, I ascended onto the mountain, having them in my hands.

And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.

M G V S Sam

And He wrote on the tables according to the first writing, the ten words, which YHWH spoke unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and the YHWH gave them unto me.

M G S Sam
V

And I turned and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as YHWH commanded me.--

And returning from the mountain, I descended and placed the tablets in the ark, which I had made, and they are still there even now, just as the Lord instructed me.

And the children of Israel journeyed from Beeroth-benejaakan to Moserah; there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.

Then the sons of Israel moved their camp, from Beeroth among the sons of Jaakan, into Moserah, where Aaron died and was buried, and where his son Eleazar was installed in the priesthood in his place.

From thence they journeyed unto Gudgod; and from Gudgod to Jotbah, a land of brooks of water.--

Thence they departed to Gadgad; and from Gadgad to Etebatha, a land wherein are torrents of water.

From thence they journeyed and camped at Gudgodah; and from there they journeyed and camped in Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters. From there they journeyed and camped in Barnea. From there they journeyed and camped in Ezivot-Gabar. From there they journeyed and camped in the holy wilderness of Zin. From there they journeyed and camped in mountain Hur. And he is dying there Aaron and he is burried there. And Elazar became a priest instead of him.

At that time YHWH separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the YHWH, to stand before the LORD to minister unto Him, and to bless in His name, unto this day.

At that time, he separated the tribe of Levi, so that he would carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and stand before him in the ministry, and speak blessings in his name, even to the present day.

At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless the name of the LORD, to this day.

Wherefore Levi hath no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; YHWH is his inheritance, according as the YHWH thy God spoke unto him.--

Therefore the Levites have no part nor inheritance among their brethren; the Lord himself is their inheritance, as he said to them.

As a result, Levi has no portion or possession with his brothers. For the Lord himself is his possession, just as the Lord your God promised him.

10  Now I stayed in the mount, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights; and YHWH hearkened unto me that time also; the YHWH would not destroy thee.

10  And I stayed before the LORD on the mountain according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened to me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy you.

11  And YHWH said unto me: 'Arise, go before the people, causing them to set forward, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give unto them.'

11  And the Lord said to me, Go, set out before this people, and let them go in and inherit the land, which I sware to their fathers to give to them.

11  And he said to me: ‘Go forth and walk before the people, so that they may enter and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers that I would deliver to them.’

12  And now, Israel, what doth YHWH thy God require of thee, but to fear the YHWH thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul;

12  And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only that you fear the Lord your God, and walk in his ways, and love him, and serve the Lord your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul,

13  to keep for thy good the commandments of YHWH, and His statutes, which I command thee this day?

13  and that you keep the commandments of the Lord, and his ceremonies, which I am instructing to you this day, so that it may be well with you.

13  And To keep the commandments of the LORD God of you, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

14  Behold, unto YHWH thy God belongeth the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, the earth, with all that therein is.

14  Lo, heaven belongs to the Lord your God, and the heaven of heaven, and the earth, and all the things that are within these.

15  Only YHWH had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and He chose their seed after them, even you, above all peoples, as it is this day.

15  Only the Lord chose your fathers to love them, and he chose out their seed after them, even you, beyond all nations, as at this day.

15  Now the Lord was closely joined to your fathers, and he loved them, and he chose their offspring after them, that is, you yourselves, out of all the nations, just as is being proven today.

16  Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

16  Therefore ye shall circumcise the hardness of your heart, and ye shall not harden your neck.

16  Therefore, circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and no longer stiffen your neck.

17  For YHWH your God, He is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awful, who regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.

17  For the Lord your God, he is God of gods, and the Lord of lords, the great, and strong, and terrible God, who does not accept persons, nor will he by any means accept a bribe

19  Love ye therefore the stranger; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

20  Thou shalt fear YHWH thy God; Him shalt thou serve; and to Him shalt thou cleave, and by His name shalt thou swear.

20  You shall fear the Lord your God, and him alone shall you serve. You shall cling to him, and you shall swear by his name.

20  You shall revere the LORD your God; him shall you serve, and to him shall you cleave, and swear by his name.

21  He is thy glory, and He is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and tremendous things, which thine eyes have seen.

21  He is your praise and your God. He has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.

21  For he is your praise, and he is your God, who has done for you these great and wonderful things which your eyes have seen.

22  Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now YHWH thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

11:2  And know ye this day; for I speak not with your children that have not known, and that have not seen the chastisement of YHWH your God, His greatness, His mighty hand, and His outstretched arm,

And ye shall know this day; for I speak not to your children, who know not and have not seen the discipline of the Lord thy God, and his wonderful works, and his strong hand, and his high arm,

Acknowledge, on this day, the things that your sons did not know. For they did not see the chastisements of the Lord your God, his great acts, and powerful hand, and outstretched arm,

the signs and works that he did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh, the king, and to his entire land,

11:4  and what He did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how He made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how YHWH hath destroyed them unto this day;

11:6  and what He did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living substance that followed them, in the midst of all Israel;

and all the things that he did to Dathan and Abiron the sons of Eliab the son of Ruben, whom the earth opening her mouth swallowed up, and their houses, and their tents, and all their substance that was with them, in the midst of all Israel

And ye shall keep all his commandments, as many as I command thee to-day, that ye may live, and be multiplied, and that ye may go in and inherit the land, into which ye go across Jordan to inherit it

so that you would keep all his commandments, which I entrust to you this day, and so that you would be able to enter and possess the land, toward which you are advancing,

11:9  and that ye may prolong your days upon the land, which YHWH swore unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

that ye may live long upon the land, which the Lord sware to your fathers to give to them, and to their seed after them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

11:10  For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou didst sow thy seed, and didst water it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs;

10  For the land, which you shall enter and possess, is not like the land of Egypt, from which you departed, where, when seed has been sown, waters are brought in by irrigation, in the manner of gardens.

10  For the land into which you are entering to possess it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your feet, like a vegetable garden;

16  Be careful, lest perhaps your heart may be deceived, and you might withdraw from the Lord, and serve strange gods, and adore them.

11:17  and the anger of YHWH be kindled against you, and He shut up the heaven, so that there shall be no rain, and the ground shall not yield her fruit; and ye perish quickly from off the good land which the YHWH giveth you.

17  and the Lord be angry with you, and restrain the heaven; and there shall not be rain, and the earth shall not yield its fruit, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land, which the Lord has given you.

Take care, lest perhaps an impious thought might creep within you, and you might say in your heart: ‘The seventh year of remission approaches.’ And so you might turn your eyes away from your poor brother, unwilling to lend to him what he has asked. If so, then he may cry out against you to the Lord, and it will be a sin for you.

10  Thou shalt surely give to him, and thou shalt lend him as much as he wants, according as he is in need; and thou shalt not grudge in thine heart as thou givest to him, because on this account the Lord thy God will bless thee in all thy works, and in all things on which thou shalt lay thine hand.

10  Instead, you shall give to him. Neither shall you do anything craftily while assisting him in his needs, so that the Lord your God may bless you, at all times and in all things to which you will put your hand.
