Deuteronomy 24:1–4

When a man taketh a wife, and marrieth her, then it cometh to pass, if she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some unseemly thing in her, that he writeth her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house,

Dt24:3  And if any one should take a wife, and should dwell with her, then it shall come to pass if she should not have found favour before him, because he has found some unbecoming thing in her, that he shall write for her a bill of divorcement, and give it into her hands, and he shall send her away out of his house.

“If a man takes a wife, and he has her, and she does not find favor before his eyes because of some vileness, then he shall write a bill of divorce, and he shall give it to her hand, and he shall dismiss her from his house.

and she departeth out of his house, and goeth and becometh another man's wife,

And when, having departed, she has married another,

and the latter husband hateth her, and writeth her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, who took her to be his wife;

and if he likewise hates her, and has given her a bill of divorce, and has dismissed her from his house, or if indeed he has died,

her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before YHWH; and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the YHWH thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

then the former husband cannot take her back as a wife. For she has been polluted and has become abominable in the sight of the Lord. Otherwise, you may cause your land, which the Lord your God will deliver to you as a possession, to sin.
