God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

In many places and in many ways, in past times, God spoke to the fathers through the Prophets;

FROM of old God spoke to our fathers by the prophets in every manner and in all ways; and in these latter days, he has spoken to us by his Son;

Byz TR

has in these last days spoken to us by [His] Son, whom He has appointed heir [of] all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

hath at the end of these days spoken unto us in [his] Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds;

Whom he has appointed heir of all things, and by whom also he made the worlds;

who being the radiance of His glory and the exact expression of His substance, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

And since the Son is the brightness of his glory, and the figure of his substance, and is carrying all things by the Word of his virtue, thereby accomplishing a purging of sins, he sits at the right hand of Majesty on high.

For he is the brightness of his glory and the express image of his being, upholding all things by the power of his word; and when he had through his person, cleansed our sins, then he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

having become so much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

And having been made so much better than the Angels, he has inherited a name so much greater than theirs.

And he is altogether greater than the angels, just as the name he has inherited is a more excellent name than theirs.

For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, today I have begotten You"? And again: "I will be a Father to Him, and He shall be a Son to Me"?

For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a Father, And he shall be to me a Son?

But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him."

And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

And again, when he brings the only-begotten Son into the world, he says: “And let all the Angels of God adore him.”

And of the angels He says, "He who makes His angels spirits and His ministers flames of fire."

And about the Angels, certainly, he says: “He makes his Angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”

But of the Son [He says]: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.

But about the Son: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of equity.

But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions."

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

You have loved justice, and you have hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation, above your companions.”

2:1  On account of this we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

For this reason, it is necessary for us to observe more thoroughly the things that we have heard, lest we let them slip away.

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2:2  For if the word which was spoken through angels was confirmed, and every transgression and disobedience received a just retribution,

For if a word that was spoken through the Angels has been made firm, and every transgression and disobedience has received the recompense of a just retribution,

For if the word spoken by the angels has been affirmed, and every one who has heard it and transgressed it has received a just reward,

2:3  how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which in the beginning was spoken by YHWH, and was confirmed to us by those who heard,

in what way might we escape, if we neglect such a great salvation? For though initially it had begun to be described by the Lord, it was confirmed among us by those who heard him,

How shall we escape, if we neglect the very things which are our salvation and which were first spoken by our LORD, and were proved to us by those who had heard him,

2:4  God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

2:7  You made him a little lower than the angels, You crowned him with glory and honor,

Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; Thou crownedst him with glory and honor, And didst set him over the works of thy hands

2:8  You have subjected all things under his feet."For in subjecting to him all things[, ]He left nothing not subjected to him. But now we do not yet see all things having been subjected to him.

Thou didst put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he subjected all things unto him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him.

Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. By putting all things under his control, he left nothing that he did not put under subjection to him. But now we do not see yet that all things are in subjection to him.

2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, through the suffering of death, having been crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God, He might taste death for everyone.

Yet we understand that Jesus, who was reduced to a little less than the Angels, was crowned with glory and honor because of his Passion and death, in order that, by the grace of God, he might taste death for all.

We see that he is Jesus who humbled himself to be a little lower than the angels, through his suffering and his death, but now he is crowned with glory and honor; for he tasted death for the sake of every one but God.

2:10  For it was fitting for Him, on account of whom [are] all things and through whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the Author of their salvation through sufferings.

10  For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

10  And it was meet and proper for him, in whose hand is everything and for whom are all things, to bring many sons to glory, so that from the very beginning of their salvation, they are made perfect through sufferings.

2:11  For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers,

11  For he who sanctifies, and those who are sanctified, are all from One. For this reason, he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying

2:12  saying: "I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing praise to You."

12  “I will announce your name to my brothers. In the midst of the Church, I will praise you.”

Byz Nes V S TR

2:13  And again: "I will put My trust in Him."And again: "Behold I and the children to whom God has given Me."

Byz Nes V

2:14  Therefore since the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same things, in order that through death He might destroy the [one] having the power of death, that is, the devil,

14  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also likewise partook of the same; and by his death he has destroyed him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.

2:17  Therefore He was obligated to become like His brothers in all [respects], in order that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things [pertaining] to God, in order that He might make propitiation for the sins of the people.

17  Wherefore it behooved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

He is faithful to the One who made him, just as Moses also was, with his entire house.

Byz Nes TR

3:3  For He has been counted worthy of more honor than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.

For this Jesus was considered worthy of greater glory than Moses, so much so that the house which he has built holds a greater honor than the former one.

The glory of Jesus is much greater than that of Moses, just as the honor of the builder of the house is greater than the house.

3:14  For we have become partakers of Christ, if indeed we hold fast the beginning of the assurance firm until the end,

14  For we have been made participants in Christ. This is only so, if we firmly retain the beginning of his substance, even unto the end.

3:17  And with whom was He indignant forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?

17  So against whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not those who had sinned, whose dead bodies lay prostrate in the desert?

17  But with whom was he displeased for forty years? Was it not especially with those who had sinned and whose bones lay in the wilderness?

3:18  And to whom did He swear that they would not enter into His rest, except to those who disobeyed?

18  And against whom did he swear that they should not enter into his rest, except against those who did not listen?

4:1  Therefore let us fear, lest while the promise remains to enter into His rest, any one of you seems to have fallen short.

Byz Nes V S

4:2  For indeed we have had the gospel preached [to us] just as those also; but the word which they heard did not profit those, not having been mixed with faith in those having heard it.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Byz Nes TR

4:3  For we who have believed enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest,"although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For we who have believed shall enter into rest, in the same manner as he said: “So it is as I have sworn in my wrath: They shall not enter into my rest!” And certainly, this is when the works from the foundation of the world have been finished.

But we who have believed will enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest; for behold, the works of God were from the very foundation of the world.

4:4  For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day thus, "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works;"

For, in a certain place, he spoke about the seventh day in this manner: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”

For he said concerning the sabbath, God rested on the seventh day from all his works.

Byz Nes V S TR

4:5  and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest."

4:7  again He appoints a certain day, saying in David, "Today,"after such a time, just as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."

he again defineth a certain day, To-day, saying in David so long a time afterward (even as hath been said before), To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.

And again, after a long time he appointed another day, as it is written above, for David said, Today if you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Byz Nes S TR

4:8  For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not have spoken afterward of another day.

For if Jesus had offered them rest, he would never have spoken, afterward, about another day.

Byz Nes V TR

4:9  Then there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

It is therefore the duty of the people of God to keep the Sabbath.

Byz Nes V S
TR

4:10  For he who has entered into His rest also rested himself from his works, as God [did] from His own.

10  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Byz V

4:11  Therefore let us be diligent to enter into that rest, lest anyone falls in the same example of disobedience.

11  Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.

11  Let us strive therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall like those who were disobedient.

Byz Nes V S TR

4:12  For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

4:13  And there is no creature hidden before Him, but all things are naked and open to His eyes, to whom we must give an account.

4:14  Therefore having a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession.

14  We have, therefore, a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus Christ, the Son of God; let us remain firm in his faith.

14  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
