Isaiah 2:0; 6:1–22:25

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw YHWH sitting upon a throne high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.

And it came to pass in the year in which king Ozias died, that I saw the Lord sitting on a high and exalted throne, and the house was full of his glory.

In the year in which king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, sublime and exalted, and the things that were under him filled the temple.

Above Him stood the seraphim; each one had six wings: with twain he covered his face and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

And seraphs stood round about him: each one had six wings: and with two they covered their face, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.

The Seraphims were standing above the throne. One had six wings, and the other had six wings: with two they were covering his face, and with two they were covering his feet, and with two they were flying.

And one called unto another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, is YHWH of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.

And they were crying out to one another, and saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts! All the earth is filled with his glory!”

And the posts of the door were moved at the voice of them that called, and the house was filled with smoke.

And the lintel shook at the voice they uttered, and the house was filled with smoke.

And the lintels above the hinges were shaken at the voice of the one crying out. And the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I: Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, YHWH of hosts.

And I said, Woe is me, for I am pricked to the heart; for being a man, and having unclean lips, I dwell in the midst of a people having unclean lips; and I have seen with mine eyes the King, the Lord of hosts.

Then I said, Woe is me, I am dismayed; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Then flew unto me one of the seraphim, with a glowing stone in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar;

And there was sent to me one of the seraphs, and he had in his hand a coal, which he had taken off the altar with the tongs

And one of the Seraphims flew to me, and in his hand was a burning coal, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.

And I heard the voice of YHWH, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said: 'Here am I; send me.'

And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go to this people? And I said, behold, I am here, send me. And he said, Go, and say to this people,

And He said: 'Go, and tell this people: hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

Ye shall hear indeed, but ye shall not understand; and ye shall see indeed, but ye shall not perceive.

And he said: “Go forth! And you shall say to this people: ‘When you listen, you will hear and not understand. And when you see a vision, you will not comprehend.’

10  Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they, seeing with their eyes, and hearing with their ears, and understanding with their heart, return, and be healed.'

10  For the heart of this people has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

10  Blind the heart of this people. Make their ears heavy and close their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and then I would heal them.”

11  Then said I: 'Lord, how long?' And He answered: 'Until cities be waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land become utterly waste,

11  And I said, How long, O Lord? And he said, Until cities be deserted by reason of their not being inhabited, and the houses by reason of there being no men, and the land shall be left desolate.

12  And YHWH have removed men far away, and the forsaken places be many in the midst of the land.

12  And after this God shall remove the men far off, and they that are left upon the land shall be multiplied.

12  For the Lord will take the men far away, and she who will have been left behind will be multiplied in the midst of the earth.

13  And if there be yet a tenth in it, it shall again be eaten up; as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remaineth, when they cast their leaves, so the holy seed shall be the stock thereof.'

13  And yet there shall be a tenth upon it, and again it shall be for a spoil, as a turpentine tree, and as an acorn when it falls out of its husk.

13  But still, there will be a tithing within her, and she will be converted, and she will be put on display, like a terebinth tree and like an oak which extends its branches. And what will remain standing within her will be a holy offspring.

7:1  And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it; but could not prevail against it.

And it happened in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, the king of Judah, that Rezin, the king of Syria, and Pekah, the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, ascended to Jerusalem to battle against it. But they were not able to defeat it.

7:2  And it was told the house of David, saying: 'Aram is confederate with Ephraim.' And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moved with the wind.

And a message was brought to the house of David, saying, Aram has conspired with Ephraim. And his soul was amazed, and the soul of his people, as in a wood a tree is moved by the wind.

And they reported to the house of David, saying: “Syria has withdrawn to Ephraim.” And his heart was shaken, with the heart of his people, just as the trees of the forest are moved by the face of the wind.

7:3  Then said YHWH unto Isaiah: 'Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fullers' field;

And the Lord said to Esaias, Go forth to meet Achaz, thou, and thy son Jasub who is left, to the pool of the upper way of the fuller’s field.

Then the LORD said to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-Jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool which is in the highway of the palace's field;

And you shall say to him: “See to it that you are silent. Do not be afraid. And have no dread in your heart over the two tails of these firebrands, nearly extinguished, which are the wrath of the fury of Rezin, king of Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.”

And say to him, Take heed and be quiet; fear not, neither be frightened by these two weakening trouble-makers, by the fierce anger of Rezin, and by the son of Romaliah

And as for the son of Aram, and the son of Romelias, forasmuch as they have devised an evil counsel, saying,

For Syria has undertaken a plan against you, with the evil of Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying

7:6  Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel;

We will go up against Judea, and having conferred with them we will turn them away to our side, and we will make the son of Tabeel king of it;

But the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus, Rasim; and yet within sixty and five years the kingdom of Ephraim shall cease from being a people.

13  And he said: “Then listen, O house of David. Is it such a small thing for you to trouble men, that you must also trouble my God?

7:14  Therefore YHWH Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive in the womb, and shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel.

7:17  YHWH shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.'

17  The Lord will lead over you, and over your people, and over the house of your father, such days as have not occurred since the days of the separation of Ephraim from Judah by the king of the Assyrians.

7:18  And it shall come to pass in that day, that YHWH shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

18  And this shall be in that day: the Lord will call for the fly, which is in the most distant parts of the rivers of Egypt, and for the swarm, which is in the land of Assur.

19  And they will arrive, and they all will rest in the torrents of the valleys, and in the caverns of the rocks, and in every thicket, and in every opening.

7:20  In that day shall YHWH shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also sweep away the beard.

20  In that day the Lord shall shave with the hired razor of the king of Assyria beyond the river the head, and the hairs of the feet, and will remove the beard.

20  In that day, the Lord will shave with a razor the ones hired by those who are across the river, by the king of the Assyrians, from the head to the hairs of the feet, with the entire beard.

22  and, instead of an abundance of milk, he will eat butter. For all who are left behind in the midst of the land will eat butter and honey.

7:23  And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, shall even be for briers and thorns.

23  And this shall be in that day: every place, where there were a thousand grapevines worth a thousand pieces of silver, will become thorns and briers.

7:24  With arrows and with bow shall one come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

24  Men shall enter thither with arrow and bow; for all the land shall be barren ground and thorns.

24  They will enter such places with arrows and bows. For briers and thorns will be throughout the entire land.

7:25  And all the hills that were digged with the mattock, thou shalt not come thither for fear of briers and thorns, but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.

25  And every mountain shall be certainly ploughed: there shall no fear come thither: for there shall be from among the barren ground and thorns that whereon cattle shall feed and oxen shall tread.

25  But as for all the mountains, which will be dug with a hoe, the terror of thorns and briers will not approach those places. And there will be pasture land for oxen, and a range for cattle.”

22:16  What hast thou here, and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out here a sepulchre, thou that hewest thee out a sepulchre on high, and gravest a habitation for thyself in the rock?

16  “What are you here, or who are you claiming to be here? For you have hewn a sepulcher for yourself here. You have diligently hewn a memorial in a rock, as a tabernacle to yourself.

22:17  Behold, YHWH will hurl thee up and down with a man's throw; yea, He will wind thee round and round;

17  Behold now, the Lord of hosts casts forth and will utterly destroy such a man, and will take away thy robe and thy glorious crown,

17  Behold, O man, the LORD will surely cast you away, and will surely forsake you.

22:18  He will violently roll and toss thee like a ball into a large country; there shalt thou die, and there shall be the chariots of thy glory, thou shame of the lord's house.

18  He will crown you with a crown of tribulation. He will toss you like a ball into a broad and spacious land. There you will die, and there the chariot of your glory will be, for it is a shame to the house of your Lord.”

18  And he shall afflict you like the affliction of a company of soldiers besieged in a fortress from which there is no escape; there shall you die, and there the chariots of your glory shall be the shame of your master's house.

22:19  And I will thrust thee from thy post, and from thy station shalt thou be pulled down.

19  And thou shalt be removed from thy stewardship, and from thy place.

19  And I will expel you from your station, and I will depose you from your ministry.

22:20  And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah;

20  And this shall be in that day: I will call my servant Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah.

22:21  And I will clothe him with thy robe, and bind him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

21  and I will put on him thy robe, and I will grant him thy crown with power, and I will give thy stewardship into his hands: and he shall be as a father to them that dwell in Jerusalem, and to them that dwell in Juda.

22:22  And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; and he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

22  And I will give him the glory of David; and he shall rule, and there shall be none to speak against him: and I will give him the key of the house of David upon his shoulder; and he shall open, and there shall be none to shut; and he shall shut, and there shall be none to open.

22  And I will place the key of the house of David upon his shoulder. And when he opens, no one will close. And when he closes, no one will open.

22:24  And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups even to all the vessels of flagons.

24  And every one that is glorious in the house of his father shall trust in him, from the least to the greatest; and they shall depend upon him in that day.

24  And they will suspend over him all the glory of his father’s house: various kinds of vessels and every little article, from the vessels of bowls even to every instrument of music.

22:25  In that day, saith YHWH of hosts, shall the peg that was fastened in a sure place give way; and it shall be hewn down, and fall, and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off; for the YHWH hath spoken it.

25  Thus saith the Lord of hosts, The man that is fastened in the sure place shall be removed and be taken away, and shall fall; and the glory that is upon him shall be utterly destroyed: for the Lord has spoken it.

25  In that day, says the Lord of hosts, the peg which was fastened in a trustworthy place shall be taken away. And he will be broken, and he will fall, and he will perish, along with all that had depended upon him, because the Lord has spoken it.

Description : Two persons quench their thirst from a fountain with six high spouting streams of water. A third person rests under a tree.   The attendant scriptures are Prv 14:27 and Is 12:3.

Motto: Fountain of all things, / May everyone go to thee!

Poem: The drops are worth more, / Than the fountain that bore them, / In the esteem of the human race, / That values these and those trifles, / Of the earthly things that streamed out, / More than their origin. / But he, who hopes to find better, / And knows to restrain his desire, / Prefers to pass thirsty, / A gutter, mixed with the dirt of the earth, / So that he would save his quenching, / Until the pure fountain would be there; / The rich source of all streams, / Where everyone who is thirsty may come, / And freely drink the holy liquid; / That living Water-vein, / That springs up eternally, from the Father, / And is very lovingly called Jesus. / So we are willing to pass the time, / And are consoled to suffer some thirst, / Even though the temporal Sun stings, / We shall speedily run to the end, / Then shall the thirst be eternally quenched, / From God, that pure / Fountain of Life.
