Leviticus 10:0; 12:1–15:33

M V Sam
G S

And YHWH spoke unto Moses, saying

Lv12:1  And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

M S Sam
G
V

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying: If a woman be delivered, and bear a man-child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of the impurity of her sickness shall she be unclean.

Lv12:2  Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, Whatsoever woman shall have conceived and born a male child shall be unclean seven days, she shall be unclean according to the days of separation for her monthly courses.

Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: A woman, if she has received the seed to bear a male, shall be unclean for seven days, just as in the days of separation due to menstruation.

M G V S Sam

And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

M S Sam

V

And she shall continue in the blood of purification three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purification be fulfilled.

Lv12:4  And for thirty-three days she shall continue in her unclean blood; she shall touch nothing holy, and shall not enter the sanctuary, until the days of her purification be fulfilled.

Yet truly, she herself shall remain for thirty-three days in the blood of her purification. She shall not touch anything holy, nor shall she enter into the Sanctuary, until the days of her purification are completed.

But if she bear a maid-child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her impurity; and she shall continue in the blood of purification threescore and six days.

Lv12:5  But if she should have born a female child, then she shall be unclean twice seven days, according to the time of her monthly courses; and for sixty-six days shall she remain in her unclean blood.

But if she will bear a female, she shall be unclean for two weeks, according to the custom of her monthly flow, and she shall remain in the blood of her purification for sixty-six days.

M G V S Sam

And when the days of her purification are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt-offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtle-dove, for a sin-offering, unto the door of the tent of meeting, unto the priest.

M G S Sam
V

And he shall offer it before YHWH, and make atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the fountain of her blood. This is the law for her that beareth, whether a male or a female.

He shall offer them in the sight of the Lord, and he shall pray for her. And so she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for one who bears a male or a female.

And if her means suffice not for a lamb, then she shall take two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons: the one for a burnt-offering, and the other for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

And if her hand has not obtained or been able to offer a lamb, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons: one as a holocaust, and the other for sin. And the priest shall pray for her, and so she shall be cleansed.

13:1  And YHWH spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying

Lv13:1  And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

M G S Sam
V

13:2  When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, or a scab, or a bright spot, and it become in the skin of his flesh the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests.

The man in whose skin or flesh there will have arisen a diverse color, or a pustule, or something that seems to shine, which is the mark of leprosy, shall be brought to Aaron the priest, or to anyone you wish among his sons.

13:3  And the priest shall look upon the plague in the skin of the flesh; and if the hair in the plague be turned white, and the appearance of the plague be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is the plague of leprosy; and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean.

And if he sees that leprosy is in his skin, and that the hair has turned a white color, and that the place where the leprosy appears is lower than the rest of the skin and the flesh, then it is the mark of leprosy, and at his judgment he shall be separated.

M S Sam
G
V

13:4  And if the bright spot be white in the skin of his flesh, and the appearance thereof be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white, then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague seven days.

Lv13:4  But if the spot be clear and white in the skin of his flesh, yet the appearance of it be not deep below the skin, and its hair have not changed itself for white hair, but it is dark, then the priest shall separate him that has the spot seven days;

But if there will be a shining whiteness in the skin, but it is not lower than the rest of the flesh, and the hair is of unaffected color, the priest shall seclude him for seven days.

M G S Sam
V

13:5  And the priest shall look on him the seventh day; and, behold, if the plague stay in its appearance, and the plague be not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up seven days more.

And on the seventh day he shall examine him, and if the leprosy certainly has not increased further, and has not spread itself in the skin, he shall seclude him again, for another seven days.

13:6  And the priest shall look on him again the seventh day; and, behold, if the plague be dim, and the plague be not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean: it is a scab; and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.

And on the seventh day, he shall evaluate him. If the leprosy has become obscured, and has not increased in the skin, he shall declare him clean, because it is a scab. And the man shall wash his clothes, and he shall be clean.

M S Sam
G
V

13:7  But if the scab spread abroad in the skin, after that he hath shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he shall show himself to the priest again.

Lv13:7  But if the bright spot should have changed and spread in the skin, after the priest has seen him for the purpose of purifying him, then shall he appear the second time to the priest,

But if the leprosy increases again, after he was seen by the priest and restored to cleanness, he shall be brought to him,

M G S Sam
V

13:8  And the priest shall look, and, behold, if the scab be spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is leprosy.

and he shall be condemned of uncleanness.

M S Sam

V

13:9  When the plague of leprosy is in a man, then he shall be brought unto the priest.

Lv13:9  And if a man have a plague of leprosy, then he shall come to the priest;

If the mark of leprosy has been in a man, he shall be brought to the priest,

M G S Sam
V

13:10  And the priest shall look, and, behold, if there be a white rising in the skin, and it have turned the hair white, and there be quick raw flesh in the rising,

10  and he shall look upon him. And when there is a white color in the skin, and it has an altered appearance in its hair, and also the same flesh seems alive,

M S Sam
G
V

13:11  it is an old leprosy in the skin of his flesh, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; he shall not shut him up; for he is unclean.

Lv13:11  it is a leprosy waxing old in the skin of the flesh; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean, and shall separate him, because he is unclean.

11  it shall be judged a chronic leprosy, which has grown into the skin. And so the priest shall declare him contaminated, and he shall not seclude him, because he is clearly unclean.

13:12  And if the leprosy break out abroad in the skin, and the leprosy cover all the skin of him that hath the plague from his head even to his feet, as far as appeareth to the priest;

Lv13:12  And if the leprosy should have come out very evidently in the skin, and the leprosy should cover all the skin of the patient from the head to the feet, wheresoever the priest shall look;

12  But if the leprosy will have flourished, coursing through the skin, and will have covered all the skin from the head even to the feet, whatever falls under the sight of the eyes,

M G S Sam
V

13:13  then the priest shall look; and, behold, if the leprosy have covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague; it is all turned white: he is clean.

13  the priest shall examine him, and he shall judge that the leprosy that he possesses is very clean, because it has all turned to whiteness, and for this reason the man shall be clean.

M Sam
G
V

13:14  But whensoever raw flesh appeareth in him, he shall be unclean.

Lv13:14  But on whatsoever day the quick flesh shall appear on him, he shall be pronounced unclean.

14  Yet truly, when the living flesh shall appear in him,

M G S Sam
V

13:15  And the priest shall look on the raw flesh, and pronounce him unclean; the raw flesh is unclean: it is leprosy.

15  then by the judgment of the priest he shall be polluted, and he shall be considered to be among the unclean. For the live flesh, if it is spotted with leprosy, is unclean.

M S G Sam
V

13:16  But if the raw flesh again be turned into white, then he shall come unto the priest;

16  And if again it will have turned into whiteness, and will have covered the entire man,

M G S Sam
V

13:17  and the priest shall look on him; and, behold, if the plague be turned into white, then the priest shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: he is clean.

17  the priest shall examine him, and he shall discern him to be clean.

M Sam V S Sam

13:18  And when the flesh hath in the skin thereof a boil, and it is healed,

Lv13:18  And if the flesh should have become an ulcer in his skin, and should be healed,

M V S Sam
G

13:19  and in the place of the boil there is a white rising, or a bright spot, reddish-white, then it shall be shown to the priest.

Lv13:19  and there should be in the place of the ulcer a white sore, or one looking white and bright, or fiery, and it shall be seen by the priest;

M G V Sam
S

13:20  And the priest shall look; and, behold, if the appearance thereof be lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague of leprosy, it hath broken out in the boil.

20  And when the priest sees it, if it appears deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; for it is a plague of leprosy broken out of the boil.

M G S Sam
V

13:21  But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hairs therein, and it be not lower than the skin, but be dim, then the priest shall shut him up seven days.

21  But if the hair is of the usual color, and the scar is somewhat obscure and is not lower than the nearby flesh, he shall seclude him for seven days.

M S Sam
G
V

13:22  And if it spread abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague.

Lv13:22  But if it manifestly spread over the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague of leprosy; it has broken out in the ulcer.

22  And if it will have certainly increased, he shall judge him to have leprosy.

M G S Sam
V

13:23  But if the bright spot stay in its place, and be not spread, it is the scar of the boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

23  But if it stays in its place, it is the scar of an ulcer, and the man shall be clean.

M Sam
G
V

13:24  Or when the flesh hath in the skin thereof a burning by fire, and the quick flesh of the burning become a bright spot, reddish- white, or white;

Lv13:24  And if the flesh be in his skin in a state of fiery inflammation, and there should be in his skin the part which is healed of the inflammation, bright, clear, and white, suffused with red or very white;

24  But if flesh and skin has been burned by fire, and, having been healed, now has a white or red scar,

M G S Sam
V

13:25  then the priest shall look upon it; and, behold, if the hair in the bright spot be turned white, and the appearance thereof be deeper than the skin, it is leprosy, it hath broken out in the burning; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague of leprosy.

25  the priest shall examine it, and if he sees that it has turned white, and that its place is lower than the rest of the skin, he shall declare him contaminated, for the mark of leprosy has arisen in the scar.

13:26  But if the priest look on it, and, behold, there be no white hair in the bright spot, and it be no lower than the skin, but be dim; then the priest shall shut him up seven days.

26  But if the color of the hair has not been changed, nor is the mark lower than the rest of the flesh, and the leprosy itself appears to be somewhat obscure, he shall seclude him for seven days,

13:27  And the priest shall look upon him the seventh day; if it spread abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague of leprosy.

27  and on the seventh day he shall evaluate him. If the leprosy will have increased further in the skin, he shall declare him contaminated.

13:28  And if the bright spot stay in its place, and be not spread in the skin, but be dim, it is the rising of the burning, and the priest shall pronounce him clean; for it is the scar of the burning.

28  But if the whiteness stays in its place and is not very clear, it is the mark of a burn, and for this reason he shall be declared clean, because it is only the scar from a burn.

M Sam G S Sam
V

13:29  And when a man or woman hath a plague upon the head or upon the beard,

29  If leprosy will have sprung up in the head or the beard of a man or woman, the priest shall look upon them,

M G S Sam
V

13:30  then the priest shall look on the plague; and, behold, if the appearance thereof be deeper than the skin, and there be in it yellow thin hair, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a scall, it is leprosy of the head or of the beard.

30  and if the place is certainly lower than the rest of the flesh, and the hair is golden, and thinner than usual, he shall declare them contaminated, because it is the leprosy of the head and the beard.

M G Sam
V
S

13:31  And if the priest look on the plague of the scall, and, behold, the appearance thereof be not deeper than the skin, and there be no black hair in it, then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague of the scall seven days.

31  But if he sees that the place of the spot is equal with the nearby flesh, and that the hair is black, he shall seclude him for seven days,

31  And if the priest look on the disease, and it does not appear deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it; then the priest shall observe it seven days;

M G S Sam
V

13:32  And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the plague; and, behold, if the scall be not spread, and there be in it no yellow hair, and the appearance of the scall be not deeper than the skin,

32  and on the seventh day he shall examine it. If the spot has not increased, and the hair has kept its color, and the place of the mark is equal with the rest of the flesh,

M Sam
G
V

13:33  then he shall be shaven, but the scall shall he not shave; and the priest shall shut up him that hath the scall seven days more.

Lv13:33  then the skin shall be shaven, but the scurf shall not be shaven; and the priest shall set aside the person having the scurf the second time for seven days.

33  the man shall be shaven, except in the place of the spot, and he shall be secluded for another seven days.

M S Sam
G
V

13:34  And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the scall; and, behold, if the scall be not spread in the skin, and the appearance thereof be not deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.

Lv13:34  And the priest shall see the scurf on the seventh day; and, behold, if the scurf is not spread in the skin after the man’s being shaved, and the appearance of the scurf is not hollow beneath the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his garments, and be clean.

34  On the seventh day, if the mark seems to have stayed in its place, and it is not lower than the rest of the flesh, he shall declare him clean, and, his clothes having been washed, he shall be clean.

13:35  But if the scall spread abroad in the skin after his cleansing,

Lv13:35  But if the scurf be indeed spread in the skin after he has been purified,

35  But if, after his cleansing, the spot will have increased again in the skin,

M G S Sam
V

13:36  then the priest shall look on him; and, behold, if the scall be spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for the yellow hair: he is unclean.

36  he shall no longer inquire as to whether the hair has turned yellow, because he is plainly unclean.

M S Sam
G
V

13:37  But if the scall stay in its appearance, and black hair be grown up therein; the scall is healed, he is clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

Lv13:37  But if the scurf remain before him in its place, and a dark hair should have arisen in it, the scurf is healed: he is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

37  Furthermore, if the spot has not increased, and the hair is black, let him know that the man is healed: and let him confidently pronounce him clean.

M G Sam
V
S

13:38  And if a man or a woman have in the skin of their flesh bright spots, even white bright spots;

38  If a whiteness will have appeared in the skin of a man or a woman,

38  If a man or a woman have in the skin of the body shiny spots, bright or white spots,

M G S Sam
V

13:39  then the priest shall look; and, behold, if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh be of a dull white, it is a tetter, it hath broken out in the skin: he is clean.

39  the priest shall examine them. If he detects an obscured whiteness shining in the skin, may he know that it is not leprosy, but a white-colored blemish, and that the man is clean.

M S Sam
G
V

13:40  And if a man's hair be fallen off his head, he is bald; yet is he clean.

Lv13:40  And if any one’s head should lose the hair, he is only bald, he is clean.

40  The man whose hair falls off of his head is bald and clean.

M G V S Sam

13:41  And if his hair be fallen off from the front part of his head, he is forehead-bald; yet is he clean.

M Sam
G
V

13:42  But if there be in the bald head, or the bald forehead, a reddish-white plague, it is leprosy breaking out in his bald head, or his bald forehead.

Lv13:42  And if there should be in his baldness of head, or his baldness of forehead, a white or fiery plague, it is leprosy in his baldness of head, or baldness of forehead.

42  But if in the bald head or bald forehead there has arisen a white or reddish color,

M S Sam
G
V

13:43  Then the priest shall look upon him; and, behold, if the rising of the plague be reddish-white in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the flesh,

Lv13:43  And the priest shall look upon him, and, behold, if the appearance of the plague be white or inflamed in his baldness of head or baldness in front, as the appearance of leprosy in the skin of his flesh,

43  and the priest will have seen this, he shall condemn him without doubt of leprosy, which has arisen in the baldness.

M G S Sam
V

13:44  he is a leprous man, he is unclean; the priest shall surely pronounce him unclean: his plague is in his head.

44  Therefore, whoever will have been spotted by leprosy, and who has been separated at the judgment of the priest,

M G Sam

13:45  And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and the hair of his head shall go loose, and he shall cover his upper lip, and shall cry: 'Unclean, unclean.'

45  shall have his clothes unstitched, his head bare, his mouth covered with a cloth, and he himself shall cry out that he is contaminated and filthy.

45  And he who has the plague, his clothes shall be rent and his head shaved, and he shall cover his lips and call himself unclean.

M S Sam

13:46  All the days wherein the plague is in him he shall be unclean; he is unclean; he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his dwelling be.

Lv13:46  All the days in which the plague shall be upon him, being unclean, he shall be esteemed unclean; he shall dwell apart, his place of sojourn shall be without the camp.

46  The entire time that he is a leper and unclean he shall live alone outside the camp.

M Sam

13:47  And when the plague of leprosy is in a garment, whether it be a woolen garment, or a linen garment;

Lv13:47  And if a garment have in it the plague of leprosy, a garment of wool, or a garment of flax,

47  A woolen or linen garment that will have held the leprosy,

13:48  or in the warp, or in the woof, whether they be of linen, or of wool; or in a skin, or in any thing made of skin.

Lv13:48  either in the warp or in the woof, or in the linen, or in the woollen threads, or in a skin, or in any workmanship of skin,

48  in the main fibers or in any of the threads, or certainly in a skin, or whatever has been made from a skin,

M S Sam
G
V

13:49  If the plague be greenish or reddish in the garment, or in the skin, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin, it is the plague of leprosy, and shall be shown unto the priest.

Lv13:49  and the plague be greenish or reddish in the skin, or in the garment, either in the warp, or in the woof, or in any utensil of skin, it is a plague of leprosy, and he shall show it to the priest.

49  if it has been infected with a white or red spot, it shall be considered to be leprosy, and it shall be shown to the priest.

M G S Sam

13:50  And the priest shall look upon the plague, and shut up that which hath the plague seven days.

50  And he, having examined it, shall close it up for seven days.

M S Sam
G
V

13:51  And he shall look on the plague on the seventh day: if the plague be spread in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in the skin, whatever service skin is used for, the plague is a malignant leprosy: it is unclean.

Lv13:51  And the priest shall look upon the plague on the seventh day; and if the plague be spread in the garment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in the skin, in whatsoever things skins may be used in their workmanship, the plague is a confirmed leprosy; it is unclean.

51  And on the seventh day, having looked at it again, if he detects an increase, it is a persistent leprosy; he shall judge the garment to be polluted, along with everything with which it has been found.

M Sam G
V

13:52  And he shall burn the garment, or the warp, or the woof, whether it be of wool or of linen, or any thing of skin, wherein the plague is; for it is a malignant leprosy; it shall be burnt in the fire.

52  And because of this, it shall be burned in flames.

M G S Sam
V

13:53  And if the priest shall look, and, behold, the plague be not spread in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin;

53  But if he will have seen that it has not increased,

M S Sam
G
V

13:54  then the priest shall command that they wash the thing wherein the plague is, and he shall shut it up seven days more.

Lv13:54  then the priest shall give directions, and one shall wash that on which there may have been the plague, and the priest shall set it aside a second time for seven days.

54  he shall instruct them, and they shall wash whatever has the leprosy in it, and he shall close it up for another seven days.

M G Sam
V
S

13:55  And the priest shall look, after that the plague is washed; and, behold, if the plague have not changed its colour, and the plague be not spread, it is unclean; thou shalt burn it in the fire; it is a fret, whether the bareness be within or without.

55  And when he will have seen that the former appearance has not returned, even if the leprosy has not increased, he shall judge it to be unclean, and he shall burn it with fire, for the leprosy has been infused in the exterior of the garment, or throughout the whole.

55  And the priest shall look on the plague after it is washed; and if the plague has not changed its appearance and the disease has not changed its color and the plague has not spread, it is unclean; you shall burn it in the fire; it has been diseased when it was new or when old.

M S Sam
G
V

13:56  And if the priest look, and, behold, the plague be dim after the washing thereof, then he shall rend it out of the garment, or out of the skin, or out of the warp, or out of the woof.

Lv13:56  And if the priest should look, and the spot be dark after it has been washed, he shall tear it off from the garment, either from the warp or from the woof, or from the skin.

56  But if the place of the leprosy has become somewhat darker, after the garment has been washed, he shall tear it away, and separate it from the part that is sound.

13:57  And if it appear still in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin, it is breaking out, thou shalt burn that wherein the plague is with fire.

Lv13:57  And if it should still appear in the garment, either in the warp or in the woof, or in any article of skin, it is a leprosy bursting forth: that wherein is the plague shall be burnt with fire.

57  But if, after this, there will appear in those places which before were immaculate, a flying and wandering leprosy, it must be burned with fire.

M G S Sam
V

13:58  And the garment, or the warp, or the woof, or whatsoever thing of skin it be, which thou shalt wash, if the plague be departed from them, then it shall be washed the second time, and shall be clean.

58  If it will have ceased, he shall wash with water the parts which are pure for a second time, and they shall be clean.

13:59  This is the law of the plague of leprosy in a garment of wool or linen, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin, to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean.

59  This is the law about leprosy for any woolen or linen garment, in the weave and in the threads, and for all items made from skins, how it must be declared either clean or contaminated.
