1 "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who having taken their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom.
1 THEN the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to greet the bridegroom and the bride.
2 Now five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish.
2 But five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.
3 Those who [were] foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them,
3 For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them
3 And the foolish ones took their lamps, but took no oil with them.
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels along with their lamps.
4 Yet truly, the prudent ones brought the oil, in their containers, with the lamps.
5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.
5 Since the bridegroom was delayed, they all fell asleep, and they were sleeping.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'
6 But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him.
6 But in the middle of the night, a cry went out: ‘Behold, the groom is arriving. Go out to meet him.’
7 "Then all those virgins arose, and they trimmed their lamps.
7 Then all the virgins got up and fixed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us [some] of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
8 But the foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give to us from your oil, for our lamps are being extinguished.’
9 "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for you and us; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
9 The prudent responded by saying, ‘Lest perhaps there may not be enough for us and for you, it would be better for you to go to the vendors and buy some for yourselves.’
9 Then the wise ones answered and said, Why, there would not be enough for us and for you; go to those who sell and buy for yourselves.
10 "But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
10 And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.
10 But while they were going to buy it, the groom arrived. And those who were prepared entered with him to the wedding, and the door was closed.
11 Afterward the remaining virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!'
11 Yet truly, at the very end, the remaining virgins also arrived, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12 "But he answered and said, 'Assuredly I say to you, I do not know you.'
12 But he responded by saying, ‘Amen I say to you, I do not know you.’
13 "Watch therefore, for you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
13 And so you must be vigilant, because you do not know the day or the hour.
13 Be alert, therefore, for you do not know, that day nor the hour.
14 "For [it is ]as[ if] a man leaving on a journey, who called his own servants and handed over his possessions to them.
14 For it is like a man setting out on a long journey, who called his servants and delivered to them his goods.
14 It is just like a man who went on a journey, who called his servants and put his wealth in their charge.
15 And to the one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey.
16 Then the [one] receiving the five talents went and traded with them, and made five other talents.
17 And likewise the [one receiving the ]two gained two more also.
17 In like manner he also that [received] the two gained other two.
17 And similarly, he who had received two gained another two.
18 But the [one] receiving one went away and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money.
18 But he who had received one, going out, dug into the earth, and he hid the money of his lord.
19 Then after much time, the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 And the [one] who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I gained five more talents besides them.'
21 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
21 His lord said to him: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful over a few things, I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the gladness of your lord.’
22 "And also the [one ]receiving the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.'
22 Then he who had received two talents also approached, and he said: ‘Lord, you delivered two talents to me. Behold, I have gained another two.’
22 Then the one with the two talents came and he said, My lord, you gave me two talents, behold I have gained two others to them.
23 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
23 His lord said to him: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful over a few things, I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the gladness of your lord.’
24 "Then the [one] having received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.
24 And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter;
24 Then he who had received one talent, approaching, said: ‘Lord, I know that you are a hard man. You reap where you have not sown, and gather where you have not scattered.
25 And being afraid, I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Look, you have what is yours.'
25 and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast thine own.
25 So I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground; here it is, it is your own one.
26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter.
26 But his lord said to him in response: ‘You evil and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed
27 Therefore you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received what is mine with interest.
27 thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back mine own with interest.
27 You should then have put my money in the exchange, and when I returned I would have demanded my own with interest.
28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.
28 Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him that hath the ten talents.
28 And so, take the talent away from him and give it the one who has ten talents.
29 For to everyone who has, [more] shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but to him who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.
29 For to him who has, it shall he given, and it shall increase to him; but he who has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast the useless servant into the darkness outside. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
30 And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
30 And the idle servant they threw into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 "And when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne.
31 But when the Son of man will have arrived in his majesty, and all the Angels with him, then he will sit upon the seat of his majesty.
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory
32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
32 and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;
33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on [His] left.
34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world
35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
36 naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink?
37 Then the just will answer him, saying: ‘Lord, when have we see you hungry, and fed you; thirsty, and given you drink?
38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
38 And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
38 And when have we seen you a stranger, and taken you in? Or naked, and covered you?
39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
39 And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me.'
40 The king then will answer and say to them, Truly I tell you, Inasmuch as you have done it to one of these least brethren, you did it to me.
41 "Then He will also say to those on the left, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels
41 Then he shall also say, to those who will be on his left: ‘Depart from me, you accursed ones, into the eternal fire, which was prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44 "Then they also will answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and we did not minister to You?'
44 Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 "Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, neither did you do it to Me.'
45 Then he shall respond to them by saying: ‘Amen I say to you, whenever you did not do it to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.’
46 "And these shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
26:1 Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these words, that He said to His disciples,
1 WHEN Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
26:2 You know that after two days the Passover takes place, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified."
26:3 Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were assembled into the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
3 Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;
26:4 and plotted to take Jesus by guile and kill Him.
4 and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.
4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.
26:5 But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a disturbance take place among the people."
5 And they said, Not on the feast day, so as not to cause a riot among the people.
26:6 And when Jesus was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,
26:7 a woman came to Him having an alabaster [flask] of very expensive perfume, and she began to pour it on His head as He reclined to eat.
7 there came unto him a woman having an alabaster cruse of exceeding precious ointment, and she poured it upon his head, as he sat at meat.
7 a woman drew near to him, holding an alabaster box of precious ointment, and she poured it over his head while he was reclining at table.
26:8 But when His disciples saw it, they became indignant, saying, "Why this waste?
8 But the disciples, seeing this, were indignant, saying: “What is the purpose of this waste?
8 When his disciples saw it, they were dis- pleased, and said, Why is this loss?
26:9 For this perfume could have been sold for much, and have been given to the poor."
9 For this [ointment] might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
9 For this could have been sold for a great deal, so as to be given to the poor.”
26:10 But when Jesus became aware of it, He said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful work for Me.
10 But Jesus perceiving it said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
26:11 For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always.
26:12 For this [woman], having put this perfume on My body, she did [it] for My burial.
12 For in that she poured this ointment upon my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.
26:13 Assuredly I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this [woman] did will be spoken as a memorial to her."
13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
13 Amen I say to you, wherever this Gospel will be preached in the whole world, what she has done also shall be told, in memory of her.”
26:14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
26:15 and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?"And they weighed out for him thirty silver [coins].
15 and he said to them, “What are you willing to give me, if I hand him over to you?” So they appointed thirty pieces of silver for him.
15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
26:16 And from then [on] he sought an opportunity to betray Him.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to deliver him [unto them.]
26:17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, "Where do You desire [that] we shall prepare for You to eat the Passover?"
17 Then, on the first day of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus, saying, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”
17 On the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came up to Jesus and said to him, Where do you wish that we may prepare the passover for you to eat?
26:18 And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near; at your house I will keep the Passover with My disciples."' "
26:19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
19 And his disciples did as Jesus had commanded them; and they prepared the passover.
26:20 And when it was evening, He was reclining [to eat] with the twelve.
20 Now when even was come, he was sitting at meat with the twelve disciples;
20 Then, when evening arrived, he sat at table with his twelve disciples.
26:21 Now while they were eating, He said, "Assuredly I say to you, that one of you will betray Me."
21 And while they were eating, he said: “Amen I say to you, that one of you is about to betray me.”
21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
26:22 And becoming exceedingly sorrowful, each of them began to say to Him, "[Surely] not I am [the one], Lord?"
22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began to say unto him every one, Is it I, Lord?
22 And they felt very sad, and began to say to him one by one, Why, is it I, my Lord?
26:23 He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl will betray Me.
23 And he answered and said, He that dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
23 But he responded by saying: “He who dips his hand with me into the dish, the same will betray me.
26:24 Indeed, the Son of Man goes just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."
24 The Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born.
24 The Son of man is going through, just as it is written concerning him; but woe to the man by whose hand the Son of man is betrayed! it would have been far better for that man never to have been born.
26:25 Then Judas, the [one] betraying Him, answered and said, "[Surely ]not I am [the one], Rabbi?"He said to him, "You have said [it]."
25 And Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Is it I, Rabbi? He saith unto him, Thou hast said.
25 Then Judas the traitor answered and said, Master, perhaps it is I? Jesus said to him, You say that.
26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took the bread, and giving thanks, He broke [it], and gave [it] to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."
26 Now while they were eating the meal, Jesus took bread, and he blessed and broke and gave it to his disciples, and he said: “Take and eat. This is my body.”
26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and he said, Take, eat; this is my body.
26:27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave [it] to them, saying, "Drink of it, all [of you],
27 And he took a cup, and gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
27 And taking the chalice, he gave thanks. And he gave it to them, saying: “Drink from this, all of you.
26:28 for this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many, for the forgiveness of sins.
26:29 But I say to you, that I will by no means drink of this fruit of the vine from now [on,] until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."
29 But I say unto you, I shall not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father`s kingdom.
26:30 And having sung hymns, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out unto the mount of Olives.
30 And they offered praise, and went out to the Mount of Olives.
26:31 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me on this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'
31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended in me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
26:32 "But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."
32 But after I am risen, I will be in Galilee before you.
26:33 Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble because of You, yet I will never be made to stumble."
33 But Peter answered and said unto him, If all shall be offended in thee, I will never be offended.
33 Then Peter responded by saying to him, “Even if everyone else has fallen away from you, I will never fall away.”
26:34 Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I say to you that on this night, before [the] rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."
34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
26:35 Peter said to Him, "Even if I have to die with You, by no means will I deny You!"And likewise said all the disciples.
35 Peter saith unto him, Even if I must die with thee, [yet] will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
26:36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go off and pray [over] there."
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I go yonder and pray.
36 Then Jesus went with them to a garden, which is called Gethsemani. And he said to his disciples, “Sit down here, while I go there and pray.”
26:37 And taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.
37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and sore troubled.
26:38 Then Jesus said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me."
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: abide ye here, and watch with me.
38 He said to them, My soul is sorrowful even to death; wait for me here, and watch with me.
26:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You [will]."
39 And continuing on a little further, he fell prostrate on his face, praying and saying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this chalice pass away from me. Yet truly, let it not be as I will, but as you will.”
39 And he went a little further and fell on his face, and prayed saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; but let it be, not as I will, but as you.
26:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What? Were you not strong [enough] to watch with Me one hour?
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
40 And he approached his disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter: “So, were you not able to keep vigil with me for one hour?
26:41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. Indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
41 Be vigilant and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. Indeed, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
41 Awake and pray, that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is ready, but the body is weak.
26:42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, let Your will be done."
42 Again a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, My Father, if this cannot pass away, except I drink it, thy will be done.
42 He went away again the second time and prayed and said, O my Father, if this cup cannot pass, and if I have to drink it, let it be according to your will.
26:43 And He came and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy.
26:44 And leaving them, He went away again, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.
44 And he left them and went away again and prayed the third time, and he said the same word.
26:45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Sleep now, and rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
45 Then cometh he to the disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
26:46 Rise up, let us be going. See, he who betrays Me is at hand."
46 Arise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that betrayeth me.
46 Rise up; let us go. Behold, he who will betray me draws near.”
26:47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve came, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, [sent] from the chief priests and elders of the people.
47 While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived, and with him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people.
26:48 Now the [one] betraying Him had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I shall kiss, He is [the One]; seize Him."
48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he: take him.
48 And he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying: “Whomever I will kiss, it is he. Take hold of him.”
26:49 And immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!"and kissed Him.
49 And straightway he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Rabbi; and kissed him.
49 And quickly drawing close to Jesus, he said, “Hail, Master.” And he kissed him.
26:50 But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?"Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, [do] that for which thou art come. Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
50 Jesus said to him, Is it for this that you have come, my friend? Then they came near and laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him.
26:51 And behold, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest, he cut off his ear.
26:52 But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword shall perish by the sword.
52 Then saith Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
52 Then Jesus said to him: “Put your sword back in its place. For all who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.
26:53 Or do you think that I cannot now call upon My Father, and He will furnish Me with more than twelve legions of angels?
53 Or thinkest thou that I cannot beseech my Father, and he shall even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
26:54 How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?"
54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
26:55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to arrest Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me.
55 In that same hour, Jesus said to the crowds: “You went out, as if to a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me. Yet I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not take hold of me.
55 At that very hour Jesus said to the people, Have you come out with swords and staves to arrest me like a bandit? I sat with you every day, teaching in the temple, and you did not arrest me.
26:56 But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled."Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.
26:57 And those having seized Jesus led [Him] away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
57 And they that had taken Jesus led him away to [the house of] Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
26:58 But Peter was following Him from a distance, up to the courtyard of the high priest. And entering inside, he sat down with the attendants to see the end.
58 But Peter followed him afar off, unto the court of the high priest, and entered in, and sat with the officers, to see the end.
58 Then Peter followed him from a distance, as far as the court of the high priest. And going inside, he sat down with the servants, so that he might see the end.
26:59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the Sanhedrin were seeking false witnesses against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death,
59 Then the leaders of the priests and the entire council sought false testimony against Jesus, so that they might deliver him to death.
26:60 and they did not find [any]. And though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find [any]. But at last two false witnesses came forward
60 and they found it not, though many false witnesses came. But afterward came two,
60 But they could not find any; then there came a great many false witnesses; but at the end two came forward,
26:61 and said, "This [Man] said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and after three days to rebuild it.' "
61 and they said, “This man said: ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and, after three days, to rebuild it.’ ”
26:62 And standing up the high priest said to Him, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men are testifying against You?"
62 And the high priest stood up, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
26:63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!"
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.
26:64 Jesus said to him, "You said [it]. Nevertheless, I say to you, from now [on,] you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."
64 Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Henceforth ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
26:65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!
26:66 What do you think?"They answered and said, "He is deserving of death."
66 How does it seem to you?” So they responded by saying, “He is guilty unto death.”
66 What else do you want? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
26:67 Then they spat in His face, and beat Him with [their] fists; and they slapped [Him,]
67 Then did they spit in his face and buffet him: and some smote him with the palms of their hands,
67 Then they spit in his face, and they struck him with fists. And others struck his face with the palms of their hands,
26:68 saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is he that struck You?"
68 saying: “Prophesy for us, O Christ. Who is the one that struck you?”
68 Saying, O Christ, prophesy to us; who smote you?
26:69 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee."
69 Now Peter was sitting without in the court: and a maid came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilaean.
69 Yet truly, Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a maidservant approached him, saying, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.”
26:70 But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying."
26:71 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another [girl] saw him and said to them there, "This [man] was with Jesus the Nazarene."
71 Then, as he exited by the gate, another maidservant saw him. And she said to those who were there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
71 And as he was going to the porch, another one saw him, and she said to them, This man was also there with Jesus the Nazarene.
26:72 But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man!"
72 And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man.
72 Again he denied it with oaths, I do not know the man.
26:73 And after a little [while], those standing by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them, for your accent gives you away."
73 And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art [one] of them; for thy speech maketh thee known.
73 After a while, those who were standing came up, and said to Peter, Truly you also are one of them, for even your speech proves it.
26:74 Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!"And immediately a rooster crowed.
74 Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew.
26:75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus which He said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."And going out, he wept bitterly.
