And having agreed with the workers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

He bargained with the laborers for a penny a day, and sent them to his vineyard.

And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace.

And he went out at the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market place.

And he said to them, ‘You may go into my vineyard, too, and what I will give you will be just.’

Again going out about the sixth and the ninth hour, he did likewise.

So they went forth. But again, he went out about the sixth, and about the ninth hour, and he acted similarly.

And he went out again at the sixth and at the ninth hour, and did the same.

And about the eleventh hour, going out he found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all day?'

Yet truly, about the eleventh hour, he went out and found others standing, and he said to them, ‘Why have you stood here idle all day?’

"So when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.'

And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers and pay them their wages; and begin from the last ones to the first.

And so, when those who had arrived about the eleventh hour came forward, each received a single denarius.

When those of the eleventh hour came, they each received a penny.
