Matthew 5:0; 19:1–30

Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, that He with from Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.

WHEN Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came to the border of Judaea, at the crossing of the Jordan.

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?"

And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful [for a man] to put away his wife for every cause?

And the Pharisees approached him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to separate from his wife, no matter what the cause?”

And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,'

And he said to them in response, “Have you not read that he who made man from the beginning, made them male and female?” And he said

But he answered and said to them, Have you not read, that he who made from the beginning, made them male and female?

and He said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?

“For this reason, a man shall separate from father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife, and these two shall become one flesh.

And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."

Henceforth they are not two, but one body; therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate.

They said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?"

He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been thus.

He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.

And I say to you, that whoever shall put away his wife, except [it be ]for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marrying a divorcee commits adultery."

10  His disciples said to Him, "If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry."

11  But He said to them, "All cannot accept this saying, but [it is for those] to whom it has been given

11  And he said to them: “Not everyone is able to grasp this word, but only those to whom it has been given.

11  He said to them, This saying does not apply to every man, but to whom it is needed.

12  For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He who is able to accept [this], let him accept [it]."

12  For there are chaste persons who were born so from their mother’s womb, and there are chaste persons who have been made so by men, and there are chaste persons who have made themselves chaste for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever is able to grasp this, let him grasp it.”

13  Then little children were brought to Him, that He might put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them.

14  But Jesus said, "Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

14  But Jesus said to them, Allow the little boys to come to me, and do not stop them; for the kingdom of heaven is for such as these.

17  So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One, [that is], God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."

25  And when His disciples heard, they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then is able to be saved?"

26  And looking on [them], Jesus said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

27  Then Peter answered and said to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You. What then shall we have?"

28  So Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the Regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

28  And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29  And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.
