Philippians 2:0; 1:1–30

Byz Nes V S TR

Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, together with the overseers and ministers

Byz Nes V TR

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from our LORD Jesus Christ.

Byz Nes TR

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

I give thanks to my God, with every remembrance of you,

always in every prayer of mine in behalf of you all, with joy,

always, in all my prayers, making supplication for all of you with joy,

In all my prayers for you, I make supplication with joy,

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

because of your communion in the Gospel of Christ, from the first day even until now.

Byz

having been persuaded of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus;

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ

I am confident of this very thing: that he who has begun this good work in you will perfect it, unto the day of Christ Jesus.

just as it is right for me to think this concerning you all, because I have you in my heart, both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace.

So then, it is right for me to feel this way about all of you, because I hold you in my heart, and because, in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel, you all are partakers of my joy.

Byz Nes V S TR

For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all perception,

And for this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all spiritual understanding

10  that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

10  so that ye may approve the things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and void of offence unto the day of Christ;

10  so that you may be confirmed in what is better, in order that you may be sincere and without offense on the day of Christ

11  having been filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

11  filled with the fruit of justice, through Jesus Christ, in the glory and praise of God.

12  But I want you to know, brothers, that the things [which happened ]to me have come about for the advancement of the gospel,

12  Now I would have you know, brethren, that the things [which happened] unto me have fallen out rather unto the progress of the gospel;

12  Now, brothers, I want you to know that the things concerning me happened for the advancement of the Gospel,

Byz Nes TR V S

13  so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;

Byz S TR

14  and most of the brothers in YHWH, having been persuaded by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word fearlessly.

14  and that most of the brethren in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

15  Some indeed are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will

15  Certainly, some do so even because of envy and contention; and others, too, do so because of a good will to preach Christ.

15  While some of them preach only because of envy and strife; others preach Christ in good will and love

Byz TR

16  The [former ]proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;

16  the one [do it] of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel;

17  but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.

17  but the other proclaim Christ of faction, not sincerely, thinking to raise up affliction for me in my bonds.

Byz Nes TR

18  What then? Nevertheless in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice; yes, and I will rejoice.

18  But what does it matter? As long as, by every means, whether under pretext or in truthfulness, Christ is announced. And about this, I rejoice, and moreover, I will continue to rejoice.

18  And I have rejoiced and still do rejoice in this: that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached.

Byz Nes V S TR

19  For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Byz Nes TR

20  according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I will be ashamed, but with utmost boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

20  by means of my own expectation and hope. For in nothing shall I be confounded. Instead, with all confidence, now just as always, Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

20  Just as it is my earnest hope and expectation that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that openly as always, so also now will Christ be magnified through my body, whether in life or death.

Byz Nes V TR

21  For to me, to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.

21  For Christ is my life, and to die is gain.

Byz Nes TR

22  But if I am to live on in the flesh, this to me will mean fruit from my labor; and what I shall choose I do not know.

22  And while I live in the flesh, for me, there is the fruit of works. But I do not know which I would choose.

22  Even if, in this life of the flesh, my labors bear fruits, I do not know what to choose.

23  For I am hard pressed by the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, [which is] far better.

23  But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better

23  For I am constrained between the two: having a desire to be dissolved and to be with Christ, which is the far better thing,

24  But to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

24  but then to remain in the flesh is necessary for your sake.

24  Nevertheless, for me to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.

Byz Nes TR

25  And having been persuaded of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,

25  And having this confidence, I know that I shall remain and that I shall continue to remain with all of you, for your advancement and for your joy in the faith,

25  And this I surely know, that I shall be spared and remain for your joy and for the furtherance of your faith;

26  that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my coming again to you.

26  so that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus for me, through my return to you again.

27  Only conduct yourselves worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,

27  Only let your behavior be worthy of the Gospel of Christ, so that, whether I return and see you, or whether, being absent, I hear about you, still you may stand firm with one spirit, with one mind, laboring together for the faith of the Gospel.

28  and not being terrified in anything by your enemies, which is to them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and this from God.

28  And in nothing be terrified by the adversaries. For what is to them is an occasion of perdition, is to you an occasion of salvation, and this is from God.

29  For to you it has been granted for the sake of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

30  engaging in the same struggle, of a kind which you also have seen in me, and which you now have heard from me.

30  And that you may endure such trials as those which you have seen me in, and such as you now hear that I am in.
