1  HAPPY IS the man that hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of the scornful.

1  Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men.

2  But his delight is in the law of YHWH; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.

3  And he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf doth not wither; and in whatsoever he doeth he shall prosper.

3  And he will be like a tree that has been planted beside running waters, which will provide its fruit in its time, and its leaf will not fall away, and all things whatsoever that he does will prosper.

4  Not so the wicked; but they are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

4  Not so the ungodly; —not so: but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth.

5  Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

5  Therefore, the impious will not prevail again in judgment, nor sinners in the council of the just.

6  For YHWH regardeth the way of the righteous; but the way of the wicked shall perish.

6  For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
