15  What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

15  What is next? Should we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? Let it not be so!

16  Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to whom you obey, whether of sin [resulting] in death, or of obedience [resulting] in righteousness?

16  Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves [as] servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17  But thanks be to God, that though you used to be slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from [your] heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

17  But thank God that you, who were once the servants of sin, now obey from the heart that form of doctrine which has been delivered to you.

18  And having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

18  Now, being made free from sin, you become the servants of righteousness.

19  I speak in human terms on account of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness, and to lawlessness [resulting] in [more] lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness [resulting] in sanctification.

19  I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye presented your members [as] servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now present your members [as] servants to righteousness unto sanctification.

19  I am speaking in human terms because of the infirmity of your flesh. For just as you offered the parts of your body to serve impurity and iniquity, for the sake of iniquity, so also have you now yielded the parts of your body to serve justice, for the sake of sanctification.

20  For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

20  For though you were once the servants of sin, you have become the children of justice.

21  So what fruit did you have then of which [things] you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

21  What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

22  But now having been freed from sin, and having become enslaved to God, you have your fruit [resulting] in sanctification, and the end, eternal life.

22  But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

22  Yet truly, having been freed now from sin, and having been made servants of God, you hold your fruit in sanctification, and truly its end is eternal life.

23  For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

7:1  Or do you not know, brothers (for I speak to those knowing the law), that the law has jurisdiction over a man as long as he lives?

1  Or are ye ignorant, brethren (for I speak to men who know the law), that the law hath dominion over a man for so long time as he liveth?

7:2  For the woman who is under a man has been bound by law to the living husband. But if the husband should die, she is released from the law of the husband.

2  For example, a woman who is subject to a husband is obligated by the law while her husband lives. But when her husband has died, she is released from the law of her husband.

2  Just as a woman is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives; but if her husband should die, she is freed from the law of her husband.

7:3  So then, while the husband is living, she will be called an adulteress if she becomes [married] to a different husband; but if her husband should die, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress, having become [married] to a different husband.

3  So then if, while the husband liveth, she be joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband die, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she be joined to another man.

3  Therefore, while her husband lives, if she has been with another man, she should be called an adulteress. But when her husband has died, she is freed from the law of her husband, such that, if she has been with another man, she is not an adulteress.

7:4  Therefore, my brothers, you also were put to death to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another-to Him who was raised from the dead, so that we might bear fruit to God.

4  Wherefore, my brethren, ye also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ; that ye should be joined to another, [even] to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit unto God.

4  And so, my brothers, you also have become dead to the law, through the body of Christ, so that you may be another one who has risen from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.

7:5  For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions aroused through the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

7:6  But now we were released from the law, having died in [that] to which we were held fast, so that we should serve as slaves in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

6  But now we have been released from the law of death, by which we were being held, so that now we may serve with a renewed spirit, and not in the old way, by the letter.

6  But now we are freed from the law, being dead to that which had hold upon us; and we should henceforth serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
