And suddenly a sound came out of heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

And suddenly, there came a sound from heaven, like that of a wind approaching violently, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation of those under heaven.

Now there were Jews staying in Jerusalem, pious men from every nation that is under heaven.

And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because they were hearing each one speaking in his own language.

And as the sound took place, all the people gathered together, and they were confused because every man heard them speak in his own language.

And they were all amazed and were marveling, saying to one another, "Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

Then all were astonished, and they wondered, saying: “Behold, are not all of these who are speaking Galileans?

And how hear we, every man in our own language wherein we were born?

10  Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya toward Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

10  And those from the region of PhrygÆi-a and of Pam-phylÆi-a and of Egypt, and of the regions of LibÆy-a near Cy-reÆne, and those who have come from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

11  Cretans and Arabs-we hear them speaking in our own tongues the mighty [deeds] of God."

11  likewise Jews and new converts, Cretans and Arabs: we have heard them speaking in our own languages the mighty deeds of God.”

11  And those from Crete, and Arabians, behold we hear them speak in our own tongues of the wonderful works of God.

14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke out to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.

14  And afterwards Simon Peter stood up together with the eleven disciples, and lifted up his voice and said to them, Men of Jewish race, and all that dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and harken to my words

15  "For these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is just the third hour of the day.

15  For these men are not drunken as you suppose for behold it is but the third hour of the day.

17  "And it shall be in the last days,"says God, "that I will pour My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;"

17  ‘And this shall be: in the last days, says the Lord, I will pour out, from my Spirit, upon all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. And your youths shall see visions, and your elders shall dream dreams.

17  It shall come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour my spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams

18  "And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

18  Yea and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days Will I pour forth of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

19  And I will give wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke.

20  The sun shall be changed into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome Day of YHWH.

21  And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of YHWH shall be saved."

21  And this shall be: whoever shall invoke the name of the Lord will be saved.’

22  "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves also know-

22  Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know;

23  Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you took, and by lawless hands, nailing [Him] to a cross, you killed [Him];

23  This man, under the definitive plan and foreknowledge of God, was delivered by the hands of the unjust, afflicted, and put to death.

23  The very one who was chosen for this purpose from the very beginning of knowledge and will of God, you have delivered into the hands of wicked men, and you have crucified and murdered him

24  whom God raised, [thus] doing away with the labor pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it.

24  whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

24  And he whom God has raised up has broken the sorrows of Hell, for certainly it was impossible for him to be held by it.

25  For David says concerning Him, "I foresaw YHWH always before Me, because He is at My right hand, that I may not be shaken.

25  For David said about him: ‘I foresaw the Lord always in my sight, for he is at my right hand, so that I may not be moved.

26  Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope.

26  Because of this, my heart has rejoiced, and my tongue has exulted. Moreover, my flesh shall also rest in hope.

27  Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades, Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.

28  You have made known to me the ways of life; You will fill me full of joy in Your presence."

28  Thou madest known unto me the ways of life; Thou shalt make me full of gladness with thy countenance.

28  You have revealed to me the way of life; you will fill me with joy with your presence.

29  "Men, brothers, let[ me] speak with boldness to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

29  Now men and brethren, permit me to speak to you openly concerning Patriarch David, who is dead and buried and whose sepulchre is with us to this day.

30  "Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to seat [Him ]on his throne,

30  Therefore, he was a prophet, for he knew that God had sworn an oath to him about the fruit of his loins, about the One who would sit upon his throne.

31  foreseeing [this], he spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, "that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption."

31  he foreseeing [this] spake of the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left unto Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

31  So he foresaw and spoke concerning the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in the grave, neither did his body see corruption.

32  "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we all are witnesses."

32  This very Jesus, God has raised up, and we are all his witnesses.

33  "Therefore having being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

33  It is he who is exalted by the right hand of God, and has received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, and has poured out gifts which you now see and hear.

36  "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

37  Now having heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brothers, what shall we do?"

37  Now when they heard [this,] they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?

38  Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

38  And Peter [said] unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39  "For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all those afar off, as many as YHWH our God will call."

39  For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.

40  And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this crooked generation."

40  And then, with very many other words, he testified and he exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this depraved generation.”

40  And he testified to them with many other words and besought them, saying, Save yourselves from this sinful generation.

41  Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added.

43  Then fear came upon every person, and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.

43  And fear developed in every soul. Also, many miracles and signs were accomplished by the Apostles in Jerusalem. And there was a great awe in everyone.

44  Now all who believed were together, and they had all things in common,

45  and they were selling their possessions and goods, and were dividing them among all, to the degree that anyone had a need.

46  So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were sharing food with joy and simplicity of heart,

47  praising God and having favor with all the people. And YHWH was adding to the church daily those who were being saved.

47  praising God greatly, and holding favor with all the people. And every day, the Lord increased those who were being saved among them.
