that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which thou shalt bring in from thy land that YHWH thy God giveth thee; and thou shalt put it in a basket and shalt go unto the place which the YHWH thy God shall choose to cause His name to dwell there.

you shall take the first of all your crops, and place them in a basket, and you shall travel to the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be invoked there.

You shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the land, which you shall bring in from the land which the LORD your God gives you, and shall put it in a basket, and you shall arise and go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to place his name.

And thou shalt come unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him: 'I profess this day unto YHWH thy God, that I am come unto the land which the YHWH swore unto our fathers to give us.'

And you shall approach the priest who will be in those days, and you shall say to him: ‘I profess this day, before the Lord your God, that I have entered into the land about which he swore to our fathers that he would give it to us.’

And you shall go to the priest who shall be in those days: and say to him, I profess this day to the LORD your God that I have come into the land which the LORD swore to our fathers to give us.

And the priest shall take the basket out of thy hand, and set it down before the altar of YHWH thy God.

And thou shalt speak and say before YHWH thy God: 'A wandering Aramean was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘The Syrian pursued my father, who descended into Egypt, and he sojourned there in a very small number, and he increased into a great and strong nation and into an innumerable multitude.

And you shall speak and say before the LORD your God, My father was led to Aram and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there for a short time, and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous;

And the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage.

And the Egyptians afflicted us, and they persecuted us, imposing upon us the most grievous burdens.

11  And thou shalt rejoice in all the good which YHWH thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thy house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is in the midst of thee.

11  And you shall feast on all the good things which the Lord your God will give to you and to your house: you, and the Levite, and the new arrival who is with you.

12  When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithe of thine increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be satisfied,

12  And when thou shalt have completed all the tithings of thy fruits in the third year, thou shalt give the second tenth to the Levite, and stranger, and fatherless, and widow; and they shall eat it in thy cities, and be merry.

13  then thou shalt say before YHWH thy God: 'I have put away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all Thy commandment which Thou hast commanded me; I have not transgressed any of Thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them.

13  And thou shalt say before the Lord thy God, I have fully collected the holy things out of my house, and I have given them to the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, according to all commands which thou didst command me: I did not transgress thy command, and I did not forget it.

14  I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I put away thereof, being unclean, nor given thereof for the dead; I have hearkened to the voice of YHWH my God, I have done according to all that Thou hast commanded me.

14  And in my distress I did not eat of them, I have not gathered of them for an unclean purpose, I have not given of them to the dead; I have hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God, I have done as thou hast commanded me.

14  I have not eaten from these things in my grief, nor have I separated them due to any kind of uncleanness, nor have I expended any of these things in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and I have done all things just as you have instructed me.

15  Look forth from Thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Thy people Israel, and the land which Thou hast given us, as Thou didst swear unto our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.'

15  Look with favor from your sanctuary and from your lofty habitation amid the heavens, and bless your people Israel and the land which you have given to us, just as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’

16  This day YHWH thy God commandeth thee to do these statutes and ordinances; thou shalt therefore observe and do them with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

16  On this day the Lord thy God charged thee to keep all the ordinances and judgements; and ye shall observe and do them, with all your heart, and with all your soul.

17  Thou hast avouched YHWH this day to be thy God, and that thou wouldest walk in His ways, and keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His ordinances, and hearken unto His voice.

17  Today, you have chosen the Lord to be your God, so that you may walk in his ways, and keep his ceremonies and commandments and judgments, and obey his command.

17  You have confessed the LORD this day to be your God, and promised to walk in his ways and to keep his statutes and his judgments and his commandments, and to hearken to his voice;

18  And YHWH hath avouched thee this day to be His own treasure, as He hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all His commandments;

18  Today, the Lord has chosen you, so that you may be his particular people, just as he has spoken to you, and so that you may keep all his precepts,

18  And the LORD has promised you again this day to be his beloved people, as he had promised you, that you shall keep and do all his commandments;

19  and to make thee high above all nations that He hath made, in praise, and in name, and in glory; and that thou mayest be a holy people unto YHWH thy God, as He hath spoken.

19  and that thou shouldest be above all nations, as he has made thee renowned, and a boast, and glorious, that thou shouldest be a holy people to the Lord thy God, as he has spoken.

19  and so that he may cause you to be more exalted than all the nations which he has created, for the sake of his own praise and name and glory, in order that you may be a holy people for the Lord your God, just as he has spoken.”

27:1  And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying: 'Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.

27:2  And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over the Jordan unto the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster.

And when you have crossed over the Jordan, into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, you shall erect immense stones, and you shall coat them with plaster,

27:3  And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over; that thou mayest go in unto the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the YHWH, the God of thy fathers, hath promised thee.

so that you may be able to write upon them all the words of this law, when you have crossed the Jordan so as to enter into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as he swore to your fathers.

27:4  And it shall be when ye are passed over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.

Therefore, when you have crossed over the Jordan, erect the stones, just as I instruct you to do this day, on Mount Ebal. And you shall coat them with plaster,

27:5  And there shalt thou build an altar unto YHWH thy God, an altar of stones; thou shalt lift up no iron tool upon them.

and you shall build, in that place, an altar to the Lord your God out of stones which have not been touched by iron,

27:6  Thou shalt build the altar of YHWH thy God of unhewn stones; and thou shalt offer burnt-offerings thereon unto the YHWH thy God.

out of stones which have not been hewn or polished. And you shall offer holocausts on it to the Lord your God.

You shall build the altar of the LORD your God of undressed stones, and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God

27:7  And thou shalt sacrifice peace-offerings, and shalt eat there; and thou shalt rejoice before YHWH thy God.

And you shall immolate peace victims. And you shall eat and feast in that place, in the sight of the Lord your God.

And you shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there and rejoice before the LORD your God.

27:8  And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.'

27:9  And Moses and the priests the Levites spoke unto all Israel, saying: 'Keep silence, and hear, O Israel; this day thou art become a people unto YHWH thy God.

27:10  Thou shalt therefore hearken to the voice of YHWH thy God, and do His commandments and His statutes, which I command thee this day.'

10  And thou shalt hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and shalt do all his commands, and his ordinances, as many as I command thee this day.

10  You shall listen to his voice, and you shall do the commandments and justices, which I am entrusting to you.”

27:11  And Moses charged the people the same day, saying

27:12  'These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin;

12  These shall stand to bless the people on mount Garizin having gone over Jordan; Symeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

12  These tribes shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people when you have crossed the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin;

27:13  and these shall stand upon mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

13  And in the opposite region, there shall stand upon Mount Ebal, as a curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

27:14  And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice

27:15  Cursed be the man that maketh a graven or molten image, an abomination unto YHWH, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and setteth it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say: Amen.

15  Cursed is the man whosoever shall make a graven or molten image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of craftsmen, and shall put it in a secret place: and all the people shall answer and say, So be it.

27:16  Cursed be he that dishonoureth his father or his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:17  Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:18  Cursed be he that maketh the blind to go astray in the way. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:19  Cursed be he that perverteth the justice due to the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say: Amen.

19  Cursed is every one that shall pervert the judgement of the stranger, and orphan, and widow: and all the people shall say, So be it.

27:20  Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he hath uncovered his father's skirt. And all the people shall say: Amen.

20  Cursed be he who lies with his father’s wife, and so exposes the covering of his bed. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:21  Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:22  Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.

22  Cursed is he that lies with his sister by his father or his mother: and all the people shall say, So be it.

27:23  Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say: Amen.

23  Cursed is he that lies with his daughter-in-law: and all the people shall say, So be it. Cursed is he that lies with his wife’s sister: and all the people shall say, So be it.

27:24  Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour in secret. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:25  Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say: Amen.

25  Cursed is he whosoever shall have taken a bribe to slay an innocent man: and all the people shall say, So be it.

25  Cursed be he who accepts gifts in order to strike down the life of innocent blood. And all the people shall say: Amen.

27:26  Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say: Amen.'

26  Cursed is every man that continues not in all the words of this law to do them: and all the people shall say, So be it.

26  Cursed be he who does not remain in the words of this law, and does not carry them out in deed. And all the people shall say: Amen.”

28:1  And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of YHWH thy God, to observe to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the YHWH thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth.

“So then, if you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God, so as to keep and do all of his commandments, which I instruct to you this day, the Lord your God will cause you to be more exalted than all the nations which exist upon the earth.

AND if you shall hearken diligently to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command you this day, the LORD your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth;

28:2  And all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of YHWH thy God.

28:3  Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

28:4  Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the young of thy flock.

Blessed shall be the offspring of thy body, and the fruits of thy land, and the herds of thy oxen, and the flocks of thy sheep.

28:6  Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

Blessed shall you be entering and departing.

28:7  YHWH will cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thee; they shall come out against thee one way, and shall flee before thee seven ways.

The Lord will grant that your enemies, who rise up against you, will fall down in your sight. They will come against you by one way, and they will flee from your face by seven ways.

The LORD shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to surrender defeated before you; they shall come out against you by one way, and flee before you by seven ways.

28:8  YHWH will command the blessing with thee in thy barns, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto; and He will bless thee in the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee.

The Lord send upon thee his blessing in thy barns, and on all on which thou shalt put thine hand, in the land which the Lord thy God gives thee.

The Lord will send forth a blessing upon your cellars, and upon all the works of your hands. And he will bless you in the land that you shall receive.

28:9  YHWH will establish thee for a holy people unto Himself, as He hath sworn unto thee; if thou shalt keep the commandments of YHWH thy God, and walk in His ways.

The Lord raise thee up for himself a holy people, as he sware to thy fathers; if thou wilt hear the voice of the Lord thy God, and walk in all his ways.

28:10  And all the peoples of the earth shall see that the name of YHWH is called upon thee; and they shall be afraid of thee.

28:11  And YHWH will make thee over-abundant for good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, in the land which the YHWH swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

11  And the LORD shall enrich you in good things, in the fruit of your body and in the bearing of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you.

28:12  YHWH will open unto thee His good treasure the heaven to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow.

12  The LORD shall open to you his good storehouse, the heaven, to give you rain to your land in its season; and he will bless all the works of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.

28:13  And YHWH will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of the YHWH thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them;

13  And the Lord will appoint you as the head, and not as the tail. And you shall be always above, and not beneath. But only if you will listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I entrust to you this day, and will keep and do them,

28:14  and shalt not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

14  and will not turn aside from them, neither to the right, nor to the left, nor follow strange gods, nor worship them.

28:15  But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of YHWH thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

15  But if you are not willing to listen to the voice of the Lord your God, so as to keep and do all his commandments and ceremonies, which I instruct to you this day, all these curses shall come to you, and take hold of you.

28:16  Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

16  Cursed shall you be in the city, cursed in the field.

28:17  Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.

17  Cursed shall be your barn, and cursed your storehouses.

28:18  Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the young of thy flock.

28:19  Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

19  Cursed shall you be entering, and cursed departing.

28:20  YHWH will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken Me.

20  The Lord send upon thee want, and famine, and consumption of all things on which thou shalt put thy hand, until he shall have utterly destroyed thee, and until he shall have consumed thee quickly because of thine evil devices, because thou hast forsaken me.

20  The Lord will send famine and hunger upon you, and a rebuke upon all the works that you do, until he quickly crushes and perishes you, because of your very wicked innovations, by which you have forsaken me.

28:21  YHWH will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until He have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it.

21  May the Lord join a pestilence to you, until he consumes you from the land, which you shall enter so as to possess.

28:22  YHWH will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with drought, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

22  The Lord smite thee with distress, and fever, and cold, and inflammation, and blighting, and paleness, and they shall pursue thee until they have destroyed thee.

22  May the Lord strike you with destitution, with fever and cold, with burning and heat, and with polluted air and rot, and may he pursue you until you perish.

28:23  And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

23  May the heavens which are above you be of brass, and may the ground upon which you tread be of iron.

28:24  YHWH will make the rain of thy land powder and dust; from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

24  The Lord thy God make the rain of thy land dust; and dust shall come down from heaven, until it shall have destroyed thee, and until it shall have quickly consumed thee.

24  May the Lord give you dust instead of rain upon your land, and may ashes descend from heaven over you, until you have been wiped away.

28:25  YHWH will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them; and thou shalt be a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth.

25  May the Lord hand you over to fall before your enemies. May you go forth against them by one way, and flee by seven ways, and may you be scattered across all the kingdoms of the earth.

28:26  And thy carcasses shall be food unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be none to frighten them away.

28:27  YHWH will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

27  May the Lord strike you with the ulcer of Egypt, and may he strike the part of your body, through which the dung goes out, with disease as well as itch, so much so that you are unable to be cured.

27  The LORD will smite you with the boils of Egypt and with hemorrhoids and with leprosy and with the itch, and thereof you cannot be healed.

28:28  YHWH will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart.

28  The Lord smite thee with insanity, and blindness, and astonishment of mind.

28  May the Lord strike you with frenzy and blindness and a madness of the mind.

28:29  And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not make thy ways prosperous; and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee.

29  And may you grope at midday, just as a blind man is accustomed to grope in darkness, and may your paths not be straight. And at all times may you suffer slander and be oppressed with violence, and may you have no one who may free you.

29  And you shall grope at noonday, as the blind grope in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways; and you shall be carried away violently, and oppressed and wronged all your days, and no man shall save you.

28:30  Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.

30  May you take a wife, though another sleeps with her. May you build a house, but not live within it. May you plant a vineyard, and not gather its vintage.

30  You shall betroth a wife, and another man shall take her; you shall build a house, and you shall not dwell in it; you shall plant a vineyard, and you shall not press grapes of it.

28:31  Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies; and thou shalt have none to save thee.

31  May your ox be immolated before you, though you do not eat from it. May your donkey be seized in your sight, and not restored to you. May your sheep be given to your enemies, and may there be no one who may help you.

31  Your ox shall be slaughtered before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it; your ass shall be violently taken away from you, and shall not be restored to you; your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have none to rescue them.

28:32  Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day; and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand.

32  May your sons and your daughters be handed over to another people, as your eyes watch and languish at the sight of them throughout the day, and may there be no strength in your hand.

32  Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look on, and you shall grieve over them all the day long; and there shall be no might in your hand to do anything.

28:33  The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed away

33  May a people you do not know eat the fruits of your land and of all your labors. And may you continually suffer from slander and oppression every day.

28:34  so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

34  And may you be stupefied at the terror of the things your eyes will see.

28:35  YHWH will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head.

35  May the Lord strike you with a very grievous ulcer in the knees and in the legs, and may you be unable to attain health, from the sole of the foot to the top of the head.

28:36  YHWH will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.

36  May the Lord lead you and your king, whom you will have appointed over yourself, into a nation which you and your fathers have not known. And there you will serve foreign gods, of wood and of stone.

23  having burned it with sulphur and molten salt, so that it can no longer be sown. And certainly no greenery would spring up, as in the example of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overturned with his wrath and fury.
