And you [He made alive,] being dead in transgressions and sins,

AND he has quickened you also who were dead because of your sins and trespasses;

in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now working in the sons of disobedience,

wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience;

In which you previously walked according to the worldly course of this world, and according to the will of the supreme ruler of the air, the spirit which is active in the children of disobedience.

among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the senses, and were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest.

And we too were all conversant in these things, in times past, by the desires of our flesh, acting according to the will of the flesh and according to our own thoughts. And so we were, by nature, sons of wrath, even like the others.

In those very deeds in which we were also corrupted from the very beginning through the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the wills of the flesh and of the mind: thereby we became completely the children of wrath, even as others.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

Yet still, God, who is rich in mercy, for the sake of his exceedingly great charity with which he loved us,

Byz Nes V S TR

even when we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,

And he has raised us up together, and he has caused us to sit down together in the heavens, in Christ Jesus,

that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

so that he may display, in the ages soon to arrive, the abundant wealth of his grace, by his goodness toward us in Christ Jesus.

In the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Jesus Christ.

For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God,

For it is by grace that you are saved through faith; not of your doing: it is the gift of God

not of works, lest anyone should boast.

And this is not of works, so that no one may glory.

10  For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

11  Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh-who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made by hands in the flesh-

11  Because of this, be mindful that, in times past, you were Gentiles in the flesh, and that you were called uncircumcised by those who are called circumcised in the flesh, something done by man,

11  Wherefore remember that you were Gentiles in the flesh from the beginning, and you were called Uncircumcision, differing from that which is called Circumcision, which is the work of the hands in the flesh.

12  that at that time you were apart from Christ, being estranged from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, not having hope and atheists in the world.

12  and that you were, in that time, without Christ, being foreign to the way of life of Israel, being visitors to the testament, having no hope of the promise, and being without God in this world.

12  At that time you were without Christ, being aliens to the customs of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope, and without God in the world.

13  But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have come to be near by the blood of Christ.

13  But now, through Jesus Christ, you who sometimes were far off are brought near by the blood of Christ.

14  For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and who destroyed the dividing wall of separation,

14  For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition,

14  For he is our peace. He made the two into one, by dissolving the intermediate wall of separation, of opposition, by his flesh,

Byz Nes TR

15  having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man [from] the two, [thus] making peace,

15  emptying the law of commandments by decree, so that he might join these two, in himself, into one new man, making peace

15  And he has abolished by his precious body, the enmity between them, and he has abolished by his commandments, the ordinances of the law, that he may create, in his person, from the two, a new man, thus making peace;

16  and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, putting to death the enmity in Himself.

16  and reconciling both to God, in one body, through the cross, destroying this opposition in himself.

16  And he reconciled both in one body with God, and with his cross he destroyed the enmity

17  And having come, He preached peace to you who were far away and to those near.

17  and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh

17  And upon arriving, he evangelized peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near.

18  Because through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

18  For by him, we both have access, in the one Spirit, to the Father.

18  Through him we both are able to draw near by one Spirit to the Father.

19  So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

19  Thus from henceforth you are neither strangers, nor foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and children of the household of God;

21  In him, all that has been built is framed together, rising up into a holy temple in the Lord.
