Now Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel His people, how that YHWH had brought Israel out of Egypt.

And when Jethro, the priest of Midian, the kinsman of Moses, had heard all that God had done for Moses, and for his people Israel, and that the Lord had led Israel away from Egypt,

And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her away,

he brought Zipporah, the wife of Moses, whom he was to return to him,

Then Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he divorced her.

and her two sons; of whom the name of the one was Gershom; for he said: 'I have been a stranger in a strange land';

and the name of the other was Eliezer: 'for the God of my father was my help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh.'

and the other in truth was Eliezer, (“For the God of my father,” he said, “is my helper, and has rescued me from the sword of Pharaoh.”)

And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness where he was encamped, at the mount of God;

And Jothor the father-in-law of Moses, and his sons and his wife, went forth to Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped on the mount of God.

And so Jethro, the kinsman of Moses, with his sons and his wife, came to Moses in the desert, where he was encamped next to the mountain of God.

and he said unto Moses: 'I thy father-in-law Jethro am coming unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.'

And he sent word to Moses, saying: “I, Jethro, your kinsman, have come to you, with your wife, and your two sons with her.”

And Moses was told, Behold, your father-in-law Jethro has come to you with your wife and your two sons accompanying him,

And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and bowed down and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.

And going out to meet his kinsman, he reverenced and kissed him. And they saluted each other with peaceful words. And when he had arrived at the tent,

And Moses told his father-in-law all that YHWH had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the YHWH delivered them.

And Moses related to his father-in-law all things that the Lord did to Pharao and all the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, and all the labour that had befallen them in the way, and that the Lord had rescued them out of the hand of Pharao, and out of the hand of the Egyptians.

Moses explained to his kinsman all that the Lord had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians on behalf of Israel, and all the hardships which had befallen them on the journey, and how the Lord had freed them.

And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which YHWH had done to Israel, in that He had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians.

And Jothor was amazed at all the good things which the Lord did to them, forasmuch as he rescued them out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharao.

10  And Jethro said: 'Blessed be YHWH, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh; who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

10  And Jothor said, Blessed be the Lord, because he has rescued them out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharao.

10  And he said: “Blessed is the Lord, who has freed his people from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh; he has rescued his people from the hand of Egypt.

11  Now I know that YHWH is greater than all gods; yea, for that they dealt proudly against them.'

11  Now know I that the Lord is great above all gods, because of this, wherein they attacked them.

11  Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods; for despite the counsel which the Egyptians had devised against them, he triumphed over them.

12  And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt-offering and sacrifices for God; and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.

12  And Jothor the father-in-law of Moses took whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices for God, for Aaron and all the elders of Israel came to eat bread with the father-in-law of Moses before God.

12  And so Jethro, the kinsman of Moses, offered holocausts and sacrifices to God. And Aaron arrived with all the elders of Israel, in order to eat bread with him in the sight of God.

13  And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood about Moses from the morning unto the evening.

13  Then, the next day, Moses sat down in order to judge the people, and they stood beside Moses from morning, even until evening.

14  And when Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said: 'What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand about thee from morning unto even?'

14  And Jothor having seen all that Moses did to the people, says, What is this that thou doest to the people? wherefore sittest thou alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning till evening?

14  And when, of course, his kinsman saw all that he did among the people, he said: “What is this that you do among the people? Why do you sit alone, while all the people stand before you, from morning, even until evening?”

15  And Moses said unto his father-in-law: 'Because the people come unto me to inquire of God;

15  And Moses answered him: “The people come to me seeking the verdict of God.

16  when they have a matter, it cometh unto me; and I judge between a man and his neighbour, and I make them know the statutes of God, and His laws.'

16  For whenever there is a dispute among them, and they come to me, I give judgement upon each, and I teach them the ordinances of God and his law.

17  And Moses' father-in-law said unto him: 'The thing that thou doest is not good.

17  And the father-in-law of Moses said to him, Thou dost not this thing rightly,

17  But he said, “This is not good, what you are doing.

18  Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee; for the thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

18  thou wilt wear away with intolerable weariness, both those and all this people which is with thee: this thing is hard, thou wilt not be able to endure it thyself alone.

18  You will be consumed by foolish efforts, both you and this people who are with you. The task is beyond your strength; you will not be able bear it alone.

19  Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God be with thee: be thou for the people before God, and bring thou the causes unto God.

19  But listen to my words and counsels, and then God will be with you. Be available to the people in that which pertains to God, so as to refer what they say to him,

20  And thou shalt teach them the statutes and the laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

20  and to reveal to the people the ceremonies, and the rituals of worship, and the way by which they should progress, and the work that they should do.

20  And you shall warn them to keep the ordinances and laws that you may show them how to conduct themselves and the works that they must do.

21  Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

21  And do thou look out for thyself out of all the people able men, fearing God, righteous men, hating pride, and thou shalt set over the people captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens.

21  Then provide, from all of the people, men capable and fearing God, in whom there is truth and who hate avarice, and appoint from them tribunes, and leaders of hundreds, and of fifties, and of tens,

22  And let them judge the people at all seasons; and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge themselves; so shall they make it easier for thee and bear the burden with thee.

22  And they shall judge the people at all times, and the too burdensome matter they shall bring to thee, but they shall judge the smaller cases; so they shall relieve thee and help thee.

22  who may judge the people at all times. Then, when anything greater will have occurred, they may refer it to you, and let them judge the lesser matters only. And so it may be lighter for you, the burden being divided among others.

23  If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people also shall go to their place in peace.'

23  If you will do this, you will fulfill the orders of God, and you will be able to uphold his precepts. And this entire people will return to their places in peace.”

23  If you shall do this thing, and God commands you so, then you shall be able to endure, and all this people shall also go each one to his own house in peace.

24  So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.

24  Having heard this, Moses did everything that he had suggested to him.

The LORD God made you many, behold, as the stars of the havens for multitude. LORD God of your fathers increased you a thousand times over, and he blessed you as he spoke. Thus how can I bear burdens of you and strifes of you? Select for yourself men wise and understanding and knowlegeable to tribes of you. And I shall place them in heads of you. And they are answering and they are saying: It is good to do what you have spoken.

25  And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

25  And Moses chose out able men out of all Israel, and he made them captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties and captains of tens over the people.

And he is commanding with the judges to say: hear between a man and his brother, and you judge righteously between man and between brother of him, and between the sojourner of him. Not you shall respect faces in sentence. Small and great you are hearing. Not you shall be afraid of the face of the man as justice is God's. And matter that is too hard for you you will bring to me and I will hear it. And he is commanding them all words that they should do.

26  And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

27  And Moses let his father-in-law depart; and he went his way into his own land.

27  And he dismissed his kinsman, who, turning back, went to his own land.

19:1  In the third month after the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

19:2  And when they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mount.

And they departed from Raphidin, and came into the wilderness of Sina, and there Israel encamped before the mountain.

Thus, setting out from Raphidim, and going directly to the desert of Sinai, they encamped in the same place, and there Israel pitched their tents away from the region of the mountain.

19:3  And Moses went up unto God, and YHWH called unto him out of the mountain, saying: 'Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel

And Moses went up to the mount of God, and God called him out of the mountain, saying, These things shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and thou shalt report them to the children of Israel.

Then Moses ascended to God. And the Lord called to him from the mountain, and he said: “This you shall say to the house of Jacob, and announce to the sons of Israel

19:4  Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto Myself.

‘You have seen what I have done to the Egyptians, in what way I carried you upon the wings of eagles and how I have taken you for myself.

You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you as though you were on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.

19:5  Now therefore, if ye will hearken unto My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then ye shall be Mine own treasure from among all peoples; for all the earth is Mine;

And now if ye will indeed hear my voice, and keep my covenant, ye shall be to me a peculiar people above all nations; for the whole earth is mine.

If, therefore, you will hear my voice, and you will keep my covenant, you will be to me a particular possession out of all people. For all the earth is mine.

19:6  and ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.'

And you will be to me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the sons of Israel.”

19:7  And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which YHWH commanded him.

Moses went, and calling together those greater by birth among the people, he set forth all the words which the Lord had commanded.

19:8  And all the people answered together, and said: 'All that YHWH hath spoken we will do.' And Moses reported the words of the people unto the YHWH.

19:9  And YHWH said unto Moses: 'Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and may also believe thee for ever.' And Moses told the words of the people unto the YHWH.

And the Lord said to Moses, Lo! I come to thee in a pillar of a cloud, that the people may hear me speaking to thee, and may believe thee for ever: and Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord.

the Lord said to him: “Soon now, I will come to you in the mist of a cloud, so that the people may hear me speaking to you, and so that they may believe you continuously.” Therefore, Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord,

19:10  And YHWH said unto Moses: 'Go unto the people, and sanctify them to-day and to-morrow, and let them wash their garments,

10  And the Lord said to Moses, Go down and solemnly charge the people, and sanctify them to-day and to-morrow, and let them wash their garments.

10  who said to him: “Go to the people, and sanctify them today, and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments.

19:11  and be ready against the third day; for the third day YHWH will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

11  And let them be ready against the third day, for on the third day the Lord will descend upon mount Sina before all the people.

19:12  And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying: Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it; whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death;

12  And you will establish limits for the people all around, and you will say to them: ‘Take care not to ascend to the mountain, and that you do not touch its parts. All who touch the mountain, shall die a death.’

12  And you shall publish a warning among the people, saying, Take heed to yourselves, neither go up into the mountain, nor draw near to the border of it; whoever draws near to the mountain shall be put to death

19:13  no hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live; when the ram's horn soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.'

13  A hand shall not touch it, for every one that touches shall be stoned with stones or shot through with a dart, whether beast or whether man, it shall not live: when the voices and trumpets and cloud depart from off the mountain, they shall come up on the mountain.

13  Hands shall not touch him, but he shall be crushed with stones, or he shall be pierced through with darts. Whether it be a beast or a man, he shall not live. For when the trumpet begins to sound, perhaps they might go up toward the mountain.”

19:14  And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their garments.

19:15  And he said unto the people: 'Be ready against the third day; come not near a woman.'

15  he said to them, “Be prepared on the third day, and do not draw near to your wives.”

15  And he said to the people, Be ready on the third day; do not touch your wives.

19:16  And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of a horn exceeding loud; and all the people that were in the camp trembled.

16  And now, the third day arrived and the morning dawned. And behold, thunders began to be heard, and also lightning flashed, and a very dense cloud covered the mountain, and the noise of the trumpet resounded vehemently. And the people who were in the camp were fearful.

19:17  And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

19:18  Now mount Sinai was altogether on smoke, because YHWH descended upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

18  Then all of Mount Sinai was smoking. For the Lord had descended over it with fire, and smoke ascended from it, as from a furnace. And the entire mountain was terrible.

19:19  And when the voice of the horn waxed louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

19  And the sound of the trumpet gradually increased to be louder, and extended to be longer. Moses was speaking, and God was answering him.

19:20  And YHWH came down upon mount Sinai, to the top of the mount; and the YHWH called Moses to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

20  And the Lord came down upon mount Sina on the top of the mountain; and the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

20  And the Lord descended over Mount Sinai, to the very top of the mountain, and he called Moses to its summit. And when he had ascended there,

19:21  And YHWH said unto Moses: 'Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the YHWH to gaze, and many of them perish.

21  And God spoke to Moses, saying, Go down, and solemnly charge the people, lest at any time they draw nigh to God to gaze, and a multitude of them fall.

21  he said to him: “Descend, and call the people to witness, lest they might be willing to transgress the limits, so as to see the Lord, and a very great multitude of them might perish.

19:22  And let the priests also, that come near to YHWH, sanctify themselves, lest the YHWH break forth upon them.'

22  Likewise, the priests who approach toward the Lord, let them be sanctified, lest he strike them down.”

19:23  And Moses said unto YHWH: 'The people cannot come up to mount Sinai; for thou didst charge us, saying: Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.'

23  And Moses said to God, The people will not be able to approach to the mount of Sina, for thou hast solemnly charged us, saying, Set bounds to the mountain and sanctify it.

19:24  And YHWH said unto him: 'Go, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the YHWH, lest He break forth upon them.'

24  And the Lord said to him, Go, descend, and come up thou and Aaron with thee; but let not the priests and the people force their way to come up to God, lest the Lord destroy some of them.

19:25  So Moses went down unto the people, and told them.

25  And Moses descended to the people, and he explained everything to them.

20:1  And God spoke all these words, saying

And the Lord spoke all these words

20:2  I am YHWH thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

“I am the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, out of the house of servitude.

20:3  Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

You shall not have strange gods before me.

20:4  Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor a likeness of anything that is in heaven above or on earth below, nor of those things which are in the waters under the earth.

20:5  thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I YHWH thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;

You shall not adore them, nor shall you worship them. I am the Lord your God: strong, zealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

20:6  and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments.

20:7  Thou shalt not take the name of YHWH thy God in vain; for the YHWH will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. For the Lord will not hold harmless one who takes the name of the Lord his God falsely.

20:8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Remember that you are to sanctify the day of the Sabbath.

20:9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;

For six days, you will work and accomplish all your tasks.

20:10  but the seventh day is a sabbath unto YHWH thy God, in it thou shalt not do any manner of work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;

10  But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; on it thou shalt do no work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy servant nor thy maidservant, thine ox nor thine ass, nor any cattle of thine, nor the stranger that sojourns with thee.

10  But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. You shall not do any work in it: you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, your beast and the newcomer who is within your gates.

20:11  for in six days YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day; wherefore the YHWH blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

11  For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all the things that are in them, and so he rested on the seventh day. For this reason, the Lord has blessed the day of the Sabbath and sanctified it.

20:12  Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee.

12  Honor your father and your mother, so that you may have a long life upon the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.

20:17  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

17  You shall not covet the house of your neighbor; neither shall you desire his wife, nor male servant, nor female servant, nor ox, nor donkey, nor anything that is his.”

17  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, and not thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his field, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. And when it so happens that LORD God brings you to the land of Caanan, which you are coming to posses, you shall set-up there for you great stones and plaster them with plaster and you write on the stones all words of this law. And it becomes for you that across the Jordan you shall raise these stones, which I command you today, in mountain Grizim. And you build there the altar to the LORD God of you. Altar of stones. Not you shall wave on them iron. With whole stones you shall build the altar to LORD God of you. And you bring on it ascend offerings to LORD God of you, and you sacrifice peace offerings, and you eat there and you rejoice before the face of the LORD God of you. The mountain this is across the Jordan behind the way of the rising of the sun, in the land of Caanan who is dwelling in the desert before the Galgal, beside Alvin-Mara, before Sechem.

20:18  And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the horn, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.

18  Then all the people considered the voices, and the lights, and the sound of the trumpet, and the smoking mountain. And being terrified and struck with fear, they stood at a distance,

18  And all the people observed the thunderings and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw all of this, they were afraid and they stood afar off.

20:19  And they said unto Moses: 'Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.'

19  saying to Moses: “Speak to us, and we will listen. Let not the Lord speak to us, lest perhaps we may die.”

19  No Translation Available And they said unto Moses, Behold, LORD God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and voice of Him we heard from the midst of the fire. Today we saw that speaks God with the man and he lives. And now why shall we die? This great fire consumes us, and if we will hear more of the voice of the LORD God of us we will die. Because what is the flesh that can hear the voice of God and live, as he has spoken to us from the midst of the fire and we lived. Go hear all that he will say to us the LORD God and then you will tell us all that he spoke and we will listen and we will do. But let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20:20  And Moses said unto the people: 'Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that His fear may be before you, that ye sin not.'

20  And Moses says to them, Be of good courage, for God is come to you to try you, that his fear may be among you, that ye sin not.

20  And Moses said to the people: “Do not be afraid. For God came in order to test you, and so that the dread of him might be with you, and you would not sin.”

20:21  And the people stood afar off; but Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

21  And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was .And the LORD said to Moses to say: I heard what people have said. All that they have spoken to you, they have spoken wisely. All that they have spoken let them put in their hearts so that they can keep my commandments in all their days, so that it would be good to them and to sons of them forever. Prophet I shall raise up to them from the midsts of their brothers, and I will place words of me into his mouth to speak to them all that I'm commanding them. And it becomes that the man who will not listen to his words that are spoken in my name, I shall require from him. But the prophet who will speak insolently in my name that which I have not instructed him to speak, or if he speaks in the name of other Gods, such prophet shall die. And if you will ask yourself in your heart how you shall know which word God has spoken and which he has not, see if the word spoken comes to pass. And if it shall not come to pass then this is not the word of the LORD, in insolence spoken the prophet. Not you shall listen to him. And if any one should feed down a field or a vineyard, and should send in his beast to feed down another field, he shall make compensation of his own field according to his produce; and if he shall have fed down the whole field, he shall pay for compensation the best of his own field and the best of his vineyard.

If there is any damage to a field or a vineyard, when he has released his cattle to pasture on the land of a stranger, he shall repay the best of what he has in his own field, or in his own vineyard, according to the estimation of the damage.

22:6  If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the shocks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field are consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

If a fire will have been discovered departing from brush, and taking hold in stacks of grain, or in crops standing in the fields, whoever ignited the fire shall repay the damages.

22:7  If a man deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, he shall pay double.

And if any one give to his neighbour money or goods to keep, and they be stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief be found he shall repay double.

If anyone will have entrusted money, or a container, to his friend to keep, and if these have been stolen from the one who received them: if the thief is found, he shall repay double.

32:5  And when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said: 'To-morrow shall be a feast to YHWH.'

And when Aaron had seen it, he built an altar before it, and he cried out with a voice of proclamation, saying, “Tomorrow is the solemnity of the Lord.”

And Aaron was afraid, and he built an altar before it; then Aaron made a proclamation, and said, Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD.

32:19  And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing; and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.

19  And when he drew nigh to the camp, he sees the calf and the dances; and Moses being very angry cast the two tables out of his hands, and broke them to pieces under the mountain.

32:23  So they said unto me: Make us a god, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.

23  For they say to me, Make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this man Moses, who brought us out of Egypt, we do not know what is become of him.

23  They said to me: ‘Make gods for us, who may go before us. For this Moses, who led us away from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has befallen him.’

32:25  And when Moses saw that the people were broken loose--for Aaron had let them loose for a derision among their enemies--

25  Therefore, Moses, seeing that the people were naked (for Aaron had stripped them because of the disgrace of their sordidness, and he had set them naked among their enemies),

32:26  then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said: 'Whoso is on YHWH'S side, let him come unto me.' And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

26  and standing at the gate of the camp, said: “If anyone is for the Lord, let him join with me.” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.

32:31  And Moses returned unto YHWH, and said: 'Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them a god of gold.

31  And returning to the Lord, he said: “I beg you, this people has sinned the greatest sin, and they have made for themselves gods of gold. Either release them from this offense,

31  So Moses returned to the LORD and said, I beseech thee, O LORD God, truly this people have sinned a great sin and have made for themselves gods of gold.

And Moses took his tabernacle and pitched it without the camp, at a distance from the camp; and it was called the Tabernacle of Testimony: and it came to pass that every one that sought the Lord went forth to the tabernacle which was without the camp.

Also, Moses took the tabernacle and pitched it beyond the camp at a distance, and he called its name: ‘Tabernacle of the Covenant.’ And all the people, who had any kind of question, went out to the Tabernacle of the Covenant, beyond the camp.

16  For how will we be able to know, I and your people, that we have found grace in your sight, unless you walk with us, so that we may be glorified out of all the people who live upon the earth?”

10  The Lord responded: “I will enter into a pact in the sight of all. I will perform signs which have never been seen on earth, nor among any nation, so that this people, in whose midst you are, may discern the terrible work of the Lord that I will do.

34:29  And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of the testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses knew not that the skin of his face sent forth beams while He talked with him.

29  And when Moses went down from the mountain, there were the two tables in the hands of Moses, —as then he went down from the mountain, Moses knew not that the appearance of the skin of his face was glorified, when God spoke to him.

29  And when Moses descended from Mount Sinai, he held the two tablets of the testimony, and he did not know that his face was radiant from the sharing of words with the Lord.

34:30  And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face sent forth beams; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

30  And Aaron and all the elders of Israel saw Moses, and the appearance of the skin of his face was made glorious, and they feared to approach him.

30  Then Aaron and the sons of Israel, seeing that the face of Moses was radiant, were afraid to approach close by.

35:19  the plaited garments, for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office.'

19  and the garments of priesthood for the sons of Aaron and the anointing oil, and the compound incense.

19  the vestments, which are to be used in the ministry of the Sanctuary, the vestments of Aaron, the high priest, as well as those of his sons, in order to exercise the priesthood to me.”

35:21  And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and brought YHWH'S offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all the service thereof, and for the holy garments.

21  and they brought an offering to the Lord for all the works of the tabernacle of witness, and all its services, and for all the robes of the sanctuary.

21  offered the first-fruits to the Lord with a most ready and devout mind, to accomplish the work of the tabernacle of the testimony. Whatever was needed for worship and for the holy vestments,

35:22  And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought nose-rings, and ear-rings, and signet- rings, and girdles, all jewels of gold; even every man that brought an offering of gold unto YHWH.

22  And the men, even every one to whom it seemed good in his heart, brought from the women, even brought seals and ear-rings, and finger-rings, and necklaces, and bracelets, every article of gold.

22  men along with women provided: arm bands and earrings, rings and bracelets. And every vessel of gold was separated, to be donated to the Lord.

35:23  And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red, and sealskins, brought them.

23  And all as many as brought ornaments of gold to the Lord, and with whomsoever fine linen was found; and they brought skins dyed blue, and rams’ skins dyed red.

23  If anyone had hyacinth, and purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, fine linen and the hair of goats, the skins of rams, dyed red, and violet skins,

35:24  Every one that did set apart an offering of silver and brass brought YHWH'S offering; and every man, with whom was found acacia-wood for any work of the service, brought it.

24  And every one that offered an offering brought silver and brass, the offerings to the Lord; and they with whom was found incorruptible wood; and they brought offerings for all the works of the preparation.

35:29  The children of Israel brought a freewill-offering unto YHWH; every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work, which the YHWH had commanded by the hand of Moses to be made.

29  And every man and woman whose mind inclined them to come in and do all the works as many as the Lord appointed them to do by Moses—they the children of Israel brought an offering to the Lord.

29  All the men and women offered donations with a devout mind, so that the works might be done which the Lord had ordered by the hand of Moses. All the sons of Israel dedicated voluntary offerings to the Lord.

34  And God gave improvement in understanding both to him, and to Eliab the son of Achisamach of the tribe of Dan.

34  he has given to his heart. It is likewise with Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach from the tribe of Dan.

35  And God filled them with wisdom, understanding and perception, to understand to work all the works of the sanctuary, and to weave the woven and embroidered work with scarlet and fine linen, to do all work of curious workmanship and embroidery.

35  He has taught both of them wisdom, in order to do the work of carpentry, tapestry, and embroidery, from hyacinth, and purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, and fine linen, and every textile, and to discover whatever may be new.”

THEN Bezaliel and Elihab and every wise man to whom the LORD gave wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary did everything, according to all that the LORD had commanded.

36:3  And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, wherewith to make it. And they brought yet unto him freewill-offerings every morning.

he handed over to them all the donations of the sons of Israel. And while they were pursuing this work, the people offered what they had vowed each day, in the morning.

36:6  And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying: 'Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.' So the people were restrained from bringing.

Therefore, Moses ordered this to be recited, with a voice of proclamation: “Let neither man nor woman offer anything further for the work of the Sanctuary.” And so they ceased from offering gifts,

36:7  For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.

because what was offered was sufficient and was more than an abundance.

36:8  And every wise-hearted man among them that wrought the work made the tabernacle with ten curtains: of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, with cherubim the work of the skilful workman made he them.

And all those who were wise of heart, in order to accomplish the work of the tabernacle, made ten curtains of fine twisted linen, and hyacinth, and purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, with diverse workmanship by the art of embroidery.
