And the word of YHWH came unto me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, saying

IN the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

'Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day; this selfsame day the king of Babylon hath invested Jerusalem.

Son of man, write for thyself daily from this day, on which the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem, even from this day.

And utter a parable concerning the rebellious house, and say unto them: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Set on the pot, set it on, and also pour water into it;

And speak a parable to the provoking house, and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord; Set on the caldron, and pour water into it

And you shall speak, through a proverb, a parable to the inciting house. And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Set out a cooking pot; set it out, I say, and put water into it.

M V
G

Gather into it the pieces belonging to it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

and put the pieces into it, every prime piece, the leg and shoulder taken off from the bones,

And put into it pieces of meat which are good and fat, a shoulder whose bone is broken from the choicest of the flock.

Take the choice of the flock, and pile also the bones under it; make it boil well, that the bones thereof may also be seethed in the midst of it.

which are taken from choice cattle, and burn the bones under them: her bones are boiled and cooked in the midst of her.

And burn also the bones under the pot, and make it boil well, and let the bones seethe in it.

M G S

Wherefore thus saith YHWH GOD: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose filth is therein, and whose filth is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; no lot is fallen upon it.

Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Woe to the city of blood, to the cooking pot that has rust in it, and whose rust has not gone out of it! Cast it out piece by piece! No lot has fallen upon it.

M G V S

For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;

that it might cause fury to come up, that vengeance might be taken, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

that my wrath should come up for complete vengeance to be taken: I set her blood upon a smooth rock, so as not to cover it.

So shall I bring my indignation over her, and take my vengeance. I have presented her blood upon the smoothest rock, so that it would not be covered.

M G

Therefore thus saith YHWH GOD: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great,

Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Woe to the city of blood, out of which I will make a great funeral pyre.

Therefore, thus says the LORD God: Woe to the bloody city! I will even enlarge the fireplace and increase the fuel,

11  then will I set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the bottom thereof may burn, and that the impurity of it may be molten in it, that the filth of it may be consumed.

12  It hath wearied itself with toil; yet its great filth goeth not forth out of it, yea, its noisome filth.

12  and her abundant scum may not come forth of her.

12  There has been much sweat and labor, and yet its extensive rust has not gone out of it, not even by fire.

13  Because of thy filthy lewdness, because I have purged thee and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have satisfied My fury upon thee.

13  Her scum shall become shameful, because thou didst defile thyself: and what if thou shalt be purged no more until I have accomplished my wrath?

13  Your uncleanness is execrable. For I wanted to cleanse you, and you have not been cleansed from your filth. So then, neither will you be cleansed before I cause my indignation over you to cease.

14  I YHWH have spoken it; it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith YHWH GOD.'

14  I the Lord have spoken; and it shall come, and I will do it; I will not delay, neither will I have any mercy: I will judge thee, saith the Lord, according to thy ways, and according to thy devices: therefore will I judge thee according to thy bloodshed, and according to thy devices will I judge thee, thou unclean, notorious, and abundantly provoking one.

17  Groan silently; you shall make no mourning for the dead. Let the band of your crown be on you, and let your shoes be on your feet. And you shall not cover your face, nor shall you eat the food of those who mourn.”

18  So I spoke unto the people in the morning, and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

18  Therefore, I spoke to the people in the morning. And my wife died in the evening. And in the morning, I did just as he had instructed me.

and thou shalt say to the children of Ammon, Hear ye the word of the Lord; thus saith the Lord; Forasmuch as ye have rejoiced against my sanctuary, because it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, because it was laid waste; and against the house of Juda, because they went into captivity;

And you shall say to the sons of Ammon: Listen to the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God: Because you have said, ‘Well, well!’ over my sanctuary, when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel, when it was desolated, and over the house of Judah, when they were led into captivity,

25:6  For thus saith YHWH GOD: Because thou hast clapped thy hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the disdain of thy soul against the land of Israel;

25:12  Thus saith YHWH GOD: Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;

12  Thus says the Lord God: Because Idumea has taken vengeance, so as to vindicate herself against the sons of Judah, and has sinned grievously, and has sought revenge against them,

25:13  therefore thus saith YHWH GOD: I will stretch out My hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman, even unto Dedan shall they fall by the sword.

13  therefore, thus says the Lord God: I will extend my hand over Idumea, and I will take from it both man and beast, and I will make it desolate from the south. And those who are in Dedan will fall by the sword.

15  Therefore thus saith the Lord, Because the Philistines have wrought revengefully, and raised up vengeance rejoicing from their heart to destroy the Israelites to a man;

15  Thus says the Lord God: Because the Philistines have taken vengeance, and have revenged themselves with all their soul, destroying, and fulfilling ancient hostilities,

For thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will bring up against thee, O Sor, Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon from the north: he is a king of kings, with horses, and chariots, and horsemen, and a concourse of very many nations.

For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will lead into Tyre: Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, a king among kings, from the north, with horses, and chariots, and horsemen, and companies, and a great people.

26:8  He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field; and he shall make forts against thee, and cast up a mound against thee, and set up bucklers against thee.

He shall slay thy daughters that are in the field with the sword, and shall set a watch against thee, and build forts around thee, and carry a rampart round against thee, and set up warlike works, and array his spears against thee.

Your daughters who are in the field, he will kill with the sword. And he will surround you with fortifications, and he will put together a rampart on all sides. And he will lift up a shield against you.

26:9  And he shall set his battering engines against thy walls, and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.
