1  My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me, and art far from my help at the words of my cry?

title  For the end, concerning the morning aid, a Psalm of David.

1  O God, my God, attend to me: why hast thou forsaken me? the account of my transgressions is far from my salvation.

title  Unto the end. For the tasks of early morning. A Psalm of David.

1  O God, my God, look upon me. Why have you forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my offenses.

2  O my God, I call by day, but Thou answerest not; and at night, and there is no surcease for me.

Ps21:2  My God, I will cry out by day, and you will not heed, and by night, and it will not be foolishness for me.

3  Yet Thou art holy, O Thou that art enthroned upon the praises of Israel.

Ps21:3  But you dwell in holiness, O Praise of Israel.

3  For thou art holy, and Israel dwells under thy glory.

4  In Thee did our fathers trust; they trusted, and Thou didst deliver them.

4  Our fathers hoped in thee; they hoped, and thou didst deliver them.

Ps21:4  In you, our fathers have hoped. They hoped, and you freed them.

5  Unto Thee they cried, and escaped; in Thee did they trust, and were not ashamed.

Ps21:5  They cried out to you, and they were saved. In you, they hoped and were not confounded.

5  They cried unto thee and were delivered; they trusted in thee and were not confounded.

6  But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Ps21:6  But I am a worm and not a man: a disgrace among men, and an outcast of the people.

7  All they that see me laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head

7  All that saw me mocked me: they spoke with their lips, they shook the head, saying,

Ps21:7  All those who saw me have derided me. They have spoken with the lips and shook the head.

8  'Let him commit himself unto YHWH! let Him rescue him; let Him deliver him, seeing He delighteth in him.'

8  He hoped in the Lord: let him deliver him, let him save him, because he takes pleasure in him.

9  For Thou art He that took me out of the womb; Thou madest me trust when I was upon my mother's breasts.

Ps21:9  For you are the one who has drawn me out of the womb, my hope from the breasts of my mother.

10  Upon Thee I have been cast from my birth; Thou art my God from my mother's womb.

10  I was cast on thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.

Ps21:10  I have been thrown upon you from the womb; from the womb of my mother, you are my God.

11  Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

11  Stand not aloof from me; for affliction is near; for there is no helper.

Ps21:11  Do not depart from me. For tribulation is near, since there is no one who may help me.

12  Many bulls have encompassed me; strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

Ps21:12  Many calves have surrounded me; fat bulls have besieged me.

13  They open wide their mouth against me, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

Ps21:13  They have opened their mouths over me, just like a lion seizing and roaring.

13  Their mouths snarl against me, as a ravening and roaring lion.

14  I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is become like wax; it is melted in mine inmost parts.

Ps21:14  And so, I have been poured out like water, and all my bones have been scattered. My heart has become like wax, melting in the midst of my chest.

15  My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my throat; and Thou layest me in the dust of death.

Ps21:15  My strength has dried up like clay, and my tongue has adhered to my jaws. And you have pulled me down, into the dust of death.

16  For dogs have encompassed me; a company of evil-doers have inclosed me; like a lion, they are at my hands and my feet.

16  For many dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked doers has beset me round: they pierced my hands and my feet.

17  I may count all my bones; they look and gloat over me.

Ps21:17  They have numbered all my bones. And they have examined me and stared at me.

17  My bones ached with pain; they looked and stared upon me.

18  They part my garments among them, and for my vesture do they cast lots.

19  But Thou, O YHWH, be not far off; O Thou my strength, hasten to help me.

Ps21:19  But you, O Lord, do not take your help far from me; be attentive to my defense.

19  But, O LORD, be not thou far from me; O God, O God, abide to help me.

20  Deliver my soul from the sword; mine only one from the power of the dog.

Ps21:20  O God, rescue my soul from the spear, and my only one from the hand of the dog.

21  Save me from the lion's mouth; yea, from the horns of the wild-oxen do Thou answer me.

22  I will declare Thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee.

Ps21:22  I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the Church, I will praise you.

22  That I may declare thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

23  'Ye that fear YHWH, praise Him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and stand in awe of Him, all ye the seed of Israel.

Ps21:23  You who fear the Lord, praise him. All the offspring of Jacob, glorify him.

24  For He hath not despised nor abhorred the lowliness of the poor; neither hath He hid His face from him; but when he cried unto Him, He heard.'

24  For he has not despised nor been angry at the supplication of the poor; nor turned away his face from me; but when I cried to him, he heard me.

Ps21:24  May all the offspring of Israel fear him. For he has neither spurned nor despised the pleas of the poor. Neither has he turned his face away from me. And when I cried out to him, he heeded me.

25  From Thee cometh my praise in the great congregation; I will pay my vows before them that fear Him.

25  My praise is of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

Ps21:25  My praise is with you, within a great church. I will pay my vows in the sight of those who fear him.

26  Let the humble eat and be satisfied; let them praise YHWH that seek after Him; may your heart be quickened for ever!

26  The poor shall eat and be satisfied; and they shall praise the Lord that seek him: their heart shall live for ever.

Ps21:26  The poor will eat and be satisfied, and those who yearn for the Lord will praise him. Their hearts will live forever and ever.

27  All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto YHWH; and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee.

Ps21:27  All the ends of the earth will remember, and they will be converted to the Lord. And all the families of the Gentiles will adore in his sight.

28  For the kingdom is YHWH'S; and He is the ruler over the nations.

Ps21:28  For the kingdom belongs to the Lord, and he will have dominion over the Gentiles.

29  All the fat ones of the earth shall eat and worship; all they that go down to the dust shall kneel before Him, even he that cannot keep his soul alive.

Ps21:29  All the fat of the earth have gnashed their teeth, and they have adored. In his sight, they will fall down, all those who descend to the ground.

29  All they that are hungry upon earth shall eat and worship before the LORD; all they that are buried shall kneel before him; my soul is alive to him.

30  A seed shall serve him; it shall be told of YHWH unto the next generation.

Ps21:30  And my soul will live for him, and my offspring will serve him.

30  An offspring shall serve him; the generations thereof shall proclaim the LORD.

31  They shall come and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done it.

31  And they shall report his righteousness to the people that shall be born, whom the Lord has made.

Ps21:31  There will be announced for the Lord a future generation, and the heavens will announce his justice to a people who will be born, whom the Lord has made.
