Why standest Thou afar off, O YHWH? Why hidest Thou Thyself in times of trouble?

Ps9:21  So then, why, O Lord, have you withdrawn far away? Why have you overlooked us in opportunity, in tribulation?

Through the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued, they are taken in the devices that they have imagined.

Ps9:22  While the impious is arrogant, the poor is enflamed. They are held by the counsels that they devise.

M

For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and the covetous vaunteth himself, though he contemn YHWH.

Because the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart; and the unjust one blesses himself.

Ps9:23  For the sinner is praised by the desires of his soul, and the iniquitous is blessed.

M S
G V

The wicked, in the pride of his countenance , saith : 'He will not require'; all his thoughts are: 'There is no God.'

The sinner has provoked the Lord: according to the abundance of his pride he will not seek after him : God is not before him.

M S

His ways prosper at all times; Thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.

His ways are profane at all times; thy judgements are removed from before him: he will gain the mastery over all his enemies.

Ps9:25  God is not before his sight. His ways are stained at all times. Your judgments are removed from his face. He will be master of all his enemies.

M

He saith in his heart: 'I shall not be moved, I who to all generations shall not be in adversity.'

For he has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, continuing without evil from generation to generation.

He says in his heart, I shall not be moved from generation to generation; for he conceives evil.

He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in secret places doth he slay the innocent; his eyes are on the watch for the helpless.

He lies in wait with rich men in secret places, in order to slay the innocent: his eyes are set against the poor.

Ps9:28  He sits in ambush, with resources in hidden places, so that he may execute the innocent.

Ps9:29  His eyes catch sight of the poor. He lies in ambush, in hiding like a lion in his den. He lies in ambush, so that he may seize the poor, to seize the poor as he draws him in.

He lies in wait to snare the poor by drawing him into his net.

14  Thou hast seen; for Thou beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite them with Thy hand; unto Thee the helpless committeth himself; Thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.

14  Thou seest it; for thou dost observe trouble and wrath, to deliver them into thy hands: the poor has been left to thee; thou wast a helper to the orphan.

Ps9:34  You do see, for you examine hardship and sorrow, so that you may deliver them into your hands. The poor one has been abandoned to you. You will be a helper to the orphan.

17  YHWH, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt direct their heart, Thou wilt cause Thine ear to attend;
