1  Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the church of God which is at Corinth, together with all the saints who are in all Achaia

2  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and YHWH Jesus Christ.

2  Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from our LORD Jesus Christ.

3  Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

4  who comforts us in all our tribulation, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, by means of the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

5  Because just as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.

5  For as the sufferings of Christ abound unto us, even so our comfort also aboundeth through Christ.

5  For just as the Passion of Christ abounds in us, so also, through Christ, does our consolation abound.

6  Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer.

6  So, if we are in tribulation, it is for your exhortation and salvation, or if we are in consolation, it is for your consolation, or if we are exhorted, it is for your exhortation and salvation, which results in the patience endurance of the same passion which we also endure.

7  (And our hope concerning you is steadfast); if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation, knowing that as you are partakers of the sufferings, thus also [you will partake] of the consolation.

7  and our hope for you is stedfast; knowing that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also are ye of the comfort.

7  So may our hope for you be made firm, knowing that, just as you are participants in the suffering, so also shall you be participants in the consolation.

8  For we do not desire you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.

8  For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning our affliction which befell [us] in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, insomuch that we despaired even of life

8  For we would wish you to know, my brethren, about the trouble we had in Asia Minor, for we were greatly oppressed beyond our strength; insomuch that we despaired of our lives

9  Yes, we have had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,

9  But we had within ourselves the response to death, so that we would not have faith in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead.

9  And we decided to die, not trusting in ourselves but in God who raises the dead

10  who delivered us from so great a death, and is delivering [us]; in whom we trust that He will still deliver [us],

10  who delivered us out of so great a death, and will deliver: on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

10  He has rescued us, and he is rescuing us, from great peril. In him, we hope that he will continue to rescue us.

11  you also laboring together for us in prayer, that thanks may be given by many persons on your behalf for the gift [given] to us through many.

11  ye also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed upon us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.

11  And you are assisting, with your prayers for us, so that from many persons, by that which is a gift in us, thanks may be given through many persons, because of us.

12  For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that we have conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and especially toward you.

12  For our glory is this: the testimony of our conscience, which is found in simplicity of heart and in sincerity toward God. And it is not with worldly wisdom, but in the grace of God, that we have conversed with this world, and more abundantly toward you.

13  For we do not write other things to you except what you read or also understand. And I hope that you will understand, even until the end

13  For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end

13  For we write nothing to you except those things which you know and understand, and I trust you will understand them to the end;

14  just as also you have understood us in part, that we are your boasting, as indeed you also are ours, in the day of YHWH Jesus.

14  as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

15  And in this confidence I intended to come to you earlier, that you might have a second benefit,

16  and through you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and by you to be sent on to Judea.

16  and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come unto you, and of you to be set forward on my journey unto Judaea.

16  And to pass by you on my way to Mac-edoÆni- a, and again to come back to you from Mac-e-doÆni-a, so that you may wish me Godspeed on my way to Judµa.

17  Therefore, when I decided this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I decide, do I decide according to the flesh, that there may be with me "Yes, Yes,"and "No, No?"

17  When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?

18  But [as ]God [is] faithful, our word unto you was not "Yes and no."

18  But God is faithful, so our word, which was set before you, was not, in him, both Yes and No.

19  For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us-by me, Silvanus, and Timothy-was not "Yes and no,"but in Him was "Yes."

20  For all the promises of God in Him [are] "Yes,"and in Him "Amen,"to the glory of God through us.

20  For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us.

20  For whatever promises are of God are, in him, Yes. For this reason, too, through him: Amen to God for our glory.

21  Now He who establishes us together with you in Christ and who has anointed us is God,

22  who also has sealed us, and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

22  And he has sealed us, and he has placed the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts.

23  Moreover I call upon God as a witness against my soul, that in order to spare you, I came no more to Corinth.

23  But I call God for a witness upon my soul, that to spare you I forbare to come unto Corinth.

24  Not that we lord it over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.

24  Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for in faith ye stand fast.

24  not because we have dominion over your faith, but because we are assistants of your joy. For by faith you stand.

2:1  But I determined this within myself, that I would not come again to you in sorrow.

2:2  For if I make you sorrowful, then who is he who makes me glad if not the [one] which is made sorrowful by me?

2  For if I make you sad, who can make me happy, but him whom I made sad?

2:3  And I wrote this very thing to you, lest when I came, I should have sorrow from those from whom I ought to have joy, having confidence in you all that my joy is [the joy] of you all.

3  And so, I wrote this same thing to you, so that I might not, when I arrive, add sorrow to sorrow for those with whom I ought to rejoice, having confidence in you in all things, so that my joy may be entirely yours.

2:4  For out of much affliction and distress of heart I wrote to you, through many tears, not that you might be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have more abundantly towards you.

4  For out of great affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote you with many tears; not to make you feel distressed, but that you may know the abundant love I have for you.

2:5  Now if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me, but in part-lest I burden you all.

5  But if any hath caused sorrow, he hath caused sorrow, not to me, but in part (that I press not too heavily) to you all.

5  But if anyone has caused grief, he has not grieved me only, but to a certain degree all of you, therefore the news will not be a shock to you.

2:6  Sufficient to such a person is this punishment which was [inflicted] by the majority,

6  Let this rebuke be sufficient for someone like this, for it has been brought by many.

6  The rebuke of many persons is sufficient for such a man.

2:7  so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest somehow such a person be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

7  so that contrariwise ye should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.

2:8  Therefore I appeal to you to reaffirm [your] love towards him.

8  Wherefore I beseech you to confirm [your] love toward him.

8  Because of this, I beg you to confirm your charity toward him.

2:9  For to this end I also wrote, so that I might put you to the test, [to see] if you are obedient in all things.

9  It was for this reason, also, that I wrote, so that I might know, by testing you, whether you would be obedient in all things.

9  For that is why I wrote you, that I might know by your word whether you are obedient in all things.

2:10  And to whom you forgive anything, I also [forgive;] for if indeed I have forgiven anything, [the ]one whom I have forgiven, [I have done so] for your sakes in the presence of Christ,

10  To whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for anything which I have forgiven, to whomever I forgave it, it is for your sakes I forgave it in the presence of Christ

2:11  lest we be taken advantage of by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

11  so that we would not be circumvented by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his intentions.

2:12  Now when I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened to me by YHWH,

12  And when I had arrived at Troas, because of the Gospel of Christ, and a door had opened to me in the Lord,

12  Furthermore, when I came to Troas with the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened to me of the LORD,

2:13  I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but saying farewell to them, I departed for Macedonia.

13  I could not rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; hence I took leave of them, and left for Mac-e-doÆni-a.

2:14  Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and making known through us the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

14  But thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place.

2:15  For we are the fragrance of Christ to God among those being saved, and among those perishing.

15  For we are a sweet savor of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish;

15  For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ for God, both with those who are being saved and with those who are perishing.

2:16  To some we are the fragrance of death [leading] to death, but to others the fragrance of life [leading] to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

16  to the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

16  To the one, certainly, the fragrance is of death unto death. But to the other, the fragrance is of life unto life. And concerning these things, who is so suitable?

2:17  For we are not as the rest, corrupting the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

17  For we are not like many others, adulterating the Word of God. But instead, we speak with sincerity: from God, before God, and in Christ.

3:1  Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or [letters] of recommendation from you?

1  Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? or need we, as do some, epistles of commendation to you or from you?

1  Must we begin again to commend ourselves? Or are we in need (as some are) of epistles of commendation for you, or from you?

3:2  You are our letter, having been written in our hearts, being known and being read by all men;

2  Ye are our epistle, written in our hearts, known and read of all men;

3:3  being made known that you are [the] letter of Christ, which was ministered by us, having been written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not in tablets of stone but in tablets of flesh, [namely] in hearts.

3  For you are known to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the spirit of the Living God; not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of the living heart.

3:4  And we have such trust through Christ toward God.

4  And such confidence have we through Christ to God-ward

4  Such is the trust that we have through Christ toward God.

3:5  Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to consider anything as from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,

5  It is not that we are adequate to think anything of ourselves, as if anything was from us. But our adequacy is from God.

3:6  who also has made us efficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of [the] letter but of [the] Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive.

6  And he has made us suitable ministers of the New Testament, not in the letter, but in the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

6  Who has made us worthy to be ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but the Spirit: for the letter of the law punishes with death, but the Spirit gives life.

3:7  Now if the ministry of death, having been engraved in letters on stones, came to be with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently into the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, the [glory which] [was] passing away,

7  But if the ministration of death, written, [and] engraven on stones, came with glory, so that the children of Israel could not look stedfastly upon the face of Moses for the glory of his face; which [glory] was passing away

7  But if the ministration of death, engraved with letters upon stones, was in glory, (so much so that the sons of Israel were not able to gaze intently upon the face of Moses, because of the glory of his countenance) even though this ministration was ineffective,

3:8  how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

8  how shall not rather the ministration of the spirit be with glory?

8  Why then shall not the ministration of the Spirit be more glorious?

3:9  For if the ministry of condemnation [had] glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

9  For if the ministration of condemnation is with glory, so much more is the ministration of justice abundant in glory.

3:10  For even that which has been glorified has not been glorified in this respect, because of the surpassing glory.

10  And neither was it glorified by means of an excellent glory, though it was made illustrious in its own way.

10  Just as that which was not glorious became glorified, in comparison with that, this excels in glory.

3:11  For if that which passes away [was] glorious, then that which remains is much more glorious.

11  For if even what was temporary has its glory, then what is lasting has an even greater glory.

3:12  Therefore, having such hope, we use great boldness of speech-

12  Seeing therefore that we have such hope, we conduct ourselves bravely

12  Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech

3:13  and not as Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the end of what was passing away.

3:14  But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is removed in Christ.

14  but their minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remaineth, it not being revealed [to them] that it is done away in Christ.

14  for their minds were obtuse. And, even until this present day, the very same veil, in the readings from the Old Testament, remains not taken away (though, in Christ, it is taken away).

3:15  But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.

15  But even unto this day, whenever the books of Moses are read, the veil is upon their hearts.

3:16  But whenever one turns to YHWH, the veil is taken away.

16  But when they will have been converted to the Lord, then the veil shall be taken away.

16  Nevertheless whenever a man turns to the LORD, the veil is taken away.

3:17  Now YHWH is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there is freedom.

17  Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, [there] is liberty.

3:18  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of YHWH, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

18  Yet truly, all of us, as we gaze upon the unveiled glory of the face of the Lord, are transfigured into the same image, from one glory to another. And this is done by the Spirit of the Lord.

18  But we all, with open faces, see as in a mirror the glory of the LORD, and we shall be transformed into the same likeness, from one glory to another, just as the Spirit comes from the LORD.

4:1  Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not despair,

1  FOR this reason we are not weary of the ministry in which we are engaged, just as we are not weary of the mercies that have been upon us;

1  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

4:2  but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor falsifying the word of God, but by the disclosure of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience before God.

2  For we renounce dishonorable and hidden acts, not walking by craftiness, nor by adulterating the Word of God. Instead, by the manifestation of truth, we commend ourselves to the conscience of each man before God.

2  But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

4:3  But even if our gospel is hidden, it is hidden among those who are perishing,

3  If our gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those who are lost

4:4  among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them.

4  To those in this world whose minds have been blinded by God, because they did not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the likeness of God, should shine on them.

4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

4:5  For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus YHWH, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake.

5  For we are not preaching about ourselves, but about Jesus Christ our Lord. We are merely your servants through Jesus.

4:6  Because it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts to give [the] light of the knowledge of the glory of God in [the] face of Jesus Christ.

6  Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

6  For God, who told the light to shine out of darkness, has shined a light into our hearts, to illuminate the knowledge of the splendor of God, in the person of Christ Jesus.

4:7  But we have this treasure in clay vessels, so that the extraordinary character of the power may be of God and not of us;

4:8  in everything being oppressed, yet not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;

8  In all things, we endure tribulation, yet we are not in anguish. We are constrained, yet we are not destitute.

4:9  persecuted, but not abandoned; cast down, but not destroyed;

9  pursued, yet not forsaken; smitten down, yet not destroyed;

9  We suffer persecution, yet we have not been abandoned. We are thrown down, yet we do not perish.

4:10  always carrying about in the body the dying of YHWH Jesus, so that also the life of Jesus may be revealed in our body.

10  We ever carry around the mortification of Jesus in our bodies, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.

10  For we always bear in our bodies the death of Jesus, that the life of Jesus might also be made manifest in our bodies.

4:11  For we who are living are always handed over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifest in our body.

11  For if we who live are delivered to death for JesusÆ sake, so also will the life of Jesus be made manifest in our mortal bodies.

4:12  So then death is working in us, but life in you.

12  Therefore, death is at work in us, and life is at work in you.

12  Thus death is close to us, but life is nigh to you.

4:13  And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, "I believed, and therefore I spoke,"we also believe, therefore we also speak,

13  But we have the same Spirit of faith. And just as it is written, “I believed, and for that reason I spoke,” so we also believe, and for that reason, we also speak.

4:14  knowing that He who raised YHWH Jesus will also raise us through Jesus, and will present us together with you.

14  For we know that the One who raised up Jesus will raise us up also with Jesus and will place us with you.

4:15  For all things[ are] for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

15  Thus, all is for you, so that grace, abounding through many in thanksgiving, may abound to the glory of God.

4:16  Therefore we do not despair, but even if our outward man is being destroyed, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

16  For this reason, we are not insufficient. But it is as though our outer man is corrupted, while our inner man is renewed from day to day.

16  For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

4:17  For our momentary light affliction is working out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

17  For though our tribulation is, at the present time, brief and light, it accomplishes in us the weight of a sublime eternal glory, beyond measure.

17  For while the troubles of the present time are little and light, a great and limitless glory for ever and ever is prepared for us.

4:18  while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are for a season, but the things which are not seen last forever.

18  And we are contemplating, not the things that are seen, but the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are temporal, whereas the things that are not seen are eternal.

18  We do not rejoice in the things which are seen, but in the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

5:1  For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made by hand, eternal in the heavens.

5:2  For also in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,

2  And for this reason also, we groan, desiring to be clothed from above with our habitation from heaven.

2  We also weary over this earthly house, earnestly longing to use our house which is in heaven.

5:3  if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.

3  If we are so clothed, then we will not be found to be naked.

5:4  For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, inasmuch as we do not desire to be stripped, but to put on [clothing], that that which is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

4  Then too, we who are in this tabernacle groan under the burden, because we do not want to be stripped, but rather to be clothed from above, so that what is mortal may be absorbed by life.

4  While we are in this earthly house, we groan because of its weight: yet we are unwilling to leave it, but rather wish to add to it, so that death will be overcome by life.

5:5  Now He who has prepared us for this same thing is God, who also gave to us the down payment of the Spirit.

5  Now he that wrought us for this very thing is God, who gave unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

5  Now the One who accomplishes this very thing in us is God, who has given us the pledge of the Spirit.

5:6  Therefore always being confident, and knowing that while we are in the body, we are away from home from YHWH

6  Being therefore always of good courage, and knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord

5:7  (for we walk by faith, not by sight),

7  For we walk by means of faith, and not by sight.

5:8  but we are confident and prefer rather to be away from home from the body, and to be at home with YHWH.

8  we are of good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord.

8  This is why we are confident, and anxious to be absent from the body, and to be present with our LORD.

5:9  Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether being at home, or being away from home, to be well pleasing to Him.

9  And thus we struggle, whether absent or present, to please him.

9  Wherefore we endeavor, that, whether present or absent, we may be pleasing to him.

5:10  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, in accordance with the things which he did, whether good or bad.

10  For it is necessary for us to be manifested before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive the proper things of the body, according to his behavior, whether it was good or evil.

5:11  Knowing, therefore, the fear of YHWH, we persuade men; but we have been made known to God. And I also hope to have been made known in your consciences.

11  Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

11  Therefore, having knowledge of the fear of the Lord, we appeal to men, but we are made manifest before God. Yet I hope, too, that we may be made manifest in your consciences.

5:12  For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give to you an opportunity of boasting on our behalf, so that you may have [an answer] for those who boast in appearance and not in heart.

12  We are not again commending ourselves unto you, but [speak] as giving you occasion of glorying on our behalf, that ye may have wherewith to answer them that glory in appearance, and not in heart.

12  We are not boasting of ourselves to you, but we give you occasion to be proud of us, before those who glory as hypocrites but who are not sincere in heart.

5:13  For if we were beside ourselves, it [was] for God; or if we are of sound mind, [it is] for you.

13  For whether we are beside ourselves, it is unto God; or whether we are of sober mind, it is unto you.

13  For if we go wrong, we answer to God, and if we go straight, it is for you.

5:14  For the love of Christ compels us, having concluded this: that if One died for all, then all died;

14  For the charity of Christ urges us on, in consideration of this: that if one died for all, then all have died.

5:15  and He died for all, so that they who live should live no longer for themselves, but for the [One] who died for them and rose again.

15  And that he died for all, that those who live may not henceforth live for themselves, but for him who died and rose for them.

5:16  Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know [Him thus] no longer.

16  Wherefore we henceforth know no man after the flesh: even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know [him so] no more.

16  And now from henceforth we do not know any one in the body: even though once we had known Christ in the body, we no longer know him now.

5:17  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, all things have become new.

17  So if anyone is a new creature in Christ, what is old has passed away. Behold, all things have been made new.

17  Whoever from now on is a follower of Christ, is a new creation: old things have passed away;

5:18  And all things are of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and who gave to us the ministry of this reconciliation,

18  But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation;

5:19  that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning their transgressions to them, and committing to us the word of this reconciliation.

19  For God was in Christ, who has reconciled the world with his majesty, not counting their sins against them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

5:20  Now then, we serve as ambassadors for Christ, as though God were appealing through us: we implore [you] on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

20  We are ambassadors therefore on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beseech [you] on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God.

20  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, so that God is exhorting through us. We beseech you for Christ: be reconciled to God.

5:21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

21  Him who knew no sin he made [to be] sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

21  For God made him who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the justice of God in him.

6:1  And working together [with Him,] we also urge that you not receive the grace of God in vain.

1  But, as a help to you, we exhort you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

1  SO we beseech you, as helpers, that the grace of God which you have received may not be in vain among you.

6:2  For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you."Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

2  (for he saith, At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, And in a day of salvation did I succor thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation)

6:3  We give no occasion for offense in anything, lest the ministry be blamed,

3  giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our ministration be not blamed;

6:4  but in everything commending ourselves as ministers of God: in much endurance, in tribulations, in hardships, in distresses,

4  But in all things, let us exhibit ourselves as ministers of God with great patience: through tribulation, difficulties, and distress;

4  But in all things let us show ourselves, to be the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in imprisonment,

6:5  in stripes, in imprisonments, in disturbances, in labors, in sleepless nights, in fastings;

5  despite wounds, imprisonment, and rebellion; with hard work, vigilance, and fasting;

5  In scourgings, in bonds, in tumults, in toilings, in vigils, in fastings;

6:6  in purity, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love,

6  by chastity, knowledge, and longsuffering; in pleasantness, in the Holy Spirit, and in unfeigned charity;

6  By purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love,

6:7  through the word of truth, through the power of God, through the weapons of righteousness on the right hand and on the left hand,

7  in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

7  with the Word of truth, with the power of God, and with the armor of justice to the right and to the left;

6:8  by honor and dishonor, by ill repute and good repute; as deceivers, and yet true;

8  through honor and dishonor, despite good reports and bad, whether seen as deceivers or truth-tellers, whether ignored or acknowledged;

8  By honour and dishonour, by praise and reproach, as deceivers, and yet true;

6:9  as being unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as being disciplined, and not being put to death;

9  as unknown, and [yet] well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

9  as if dying and yet truly alive; as if chastised and yet not subdued;

6:10  as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

10  as if sorrowful and yet always rejoicing; as if needy and yet enriching many; as if having nothing and possessing everything.

6:11  O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart has been opened wide.

11  Our mouth is open unto you, O Corinthians, our heart is enlarged.

11  O Corinthians, we have told you everything, and our heart is relieved.

6:12  You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.

12  Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own affections.

6:13  Now in return for the same-I speak as to children-you also be opened wide.

13  I speak as to my children, render me my reward which is with you, increase your love toward me.

6:14  Do not become unequally yoked with unbelievers; for what participation is there for righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion is there for light with darkness?

14  Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness?

14  Do not choose to bear the yoke with unbelievers. For how can justice be a participant with iniquity? Or how can the fellowship of light be a participant with darkness?

6:15  And what agreement is there for Christ with Belial? Or what part is there for a believer with an infidel?

15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what portion hath a believer with an unbeliever?

6:16  And what union is there for the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

16  And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

16  Or what harmony has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as it is said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

6:17  Therefore "Come out from the midst of them and be separated,"says YHWH. "Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you."

17  Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you,

17  Because of this, you must depart from their midst and be separate, says the Lord. And do not touch what is unclean.

6:18  "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says YHWH Almighty."

18  And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

18  Then I will accept you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”
