Ezekiel 21:0; 23:1–37:28

M G V
S

And the word of YHWH came unto me, saying

THE word of the LORD came to me, saying,

M G V S

'Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother;

M
G S
V

and they committed harlotries in Egypt; they committed harlotries in their youth; there were their bosoms pressed, and there their virgin breasts were bruised.

and they went a-whoring in Egypt in their youth: there their breasts fell, there they lost their virginity.

and they fornicated in Egypt; they committed fornication in their youth. In that place, their breasts were conquered; the breasts of their adolescence were subdued.

M V S
G

And the names of them were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister; and they became Mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And as for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah.

And their names were Oola the elder, and Ooliba her sister: and they were mine, and bore sons and daughters: and as for their names, Samaria was Oola, and Jerusalem was Ooliba.

M S
G
V

And Oholah played the harlot when she was Mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians, warriors,

And Oola went a-whoring from me, and doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians that were her neighbors,

And then, Oholah committed fornication against me, and she acted madly with her lovers, with the Assyrians who approached her,

M
G
V S

clothed with blue, governors and rulers, handsome young men all of them, horsemen riding upon horses.

clothed with purple, princes and captains; they were young men and choice, all horseman riding on horses.

who were clothed with hyacinth: rulers and magistrates, passionate youths and all of the horsemen, mounted on horses.

M G
V
S

And she bestowed her harlotries upon them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and on whomsoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself.

And she distributed her fornications to those chosen men, all of them sons of the Assyrians. And she defiled herself with the uncleanness of all those whom she madly desired.

Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all the chosen men of Assyria and with all on whom she doted; with all their idols she defiled herself.

M V S
G

Neither hath she left her harlotries brought from Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised her virgin breasts; and they poured out their lust upon her.

And she forsook not her fornication with the Egyptians: for in her youth they committed fornication with her, and they deflowered her, and poured out their fornication upon her.

M S
G
V

Wherefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.

Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the children of the Assyrians, on whom she doted.

Because of this, I have delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the sons of the Assur, whom she has lustfully desired.

M S
G V

10  These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters, and her they slew with the sword; and she became a byword among women, for judgments were executed upon her.

10  They uncovered her shame: they took her sons and daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became a byword among women: and they wrought vengeance in her for the sake of the daughters.

M G
V
S

11  And her sister Oholibah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her harlotries more than her sister in her harlotries.

11  And when her sister, Oholibah, had seen this, she was even more mad with lust than the other. And her fornication was beyond the fornication of her sister.

11  And when her sister Ahlibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her excessive lust than she, and her whoredoms were more than the whoredoms of her sister.

M S
G
V

12  She doted upon the Assyrians, governors and rulers, warriors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them handsome young men.

12  She doted upon the sons of the Assyrian, princes and captains, her neighbours, clothed with fine linen, horsemen riding on horses; they were all choice young men.

12  She shamelessly offered herself to the sons of the Assyrians, to the rulers and magistrates who brought themselves to her clothed with colorful garments, to the horsemen who were carried by horses, and to the youths, all of them exceptional in appearance.

M G V
S

13  And I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way.

13  Then I saw that the ways of both of them were defiled.

M G S
V

14  And she increased her harlotries; for she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion,

14  And she increased her fornications. And when she had seen men depicted on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans, expressed in colors,

M S
G
V

15  girded with girdles upon their loins, with pendant turbans upon their heads, all of them captains to look upon, the likeness of the sons of Babylon, even of Chaldea, the land of their nativity.

15  having variegated girdles on their loins, having also richly dyed attire upon their heads; all had a princely appearance, the likeness of the children of the Chaldeans, of their native land.

15  with belts wrapped around the waist, and with dyed headdresses on their heads, having seen the appearance of all the rulers, the likenesses of the sons of Babylon and of the land of the Chaldeans in which they were born,

M G
V
S

16  And as soon as she saw them she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

16  she became mad for them with the desire of her eyes, and she sent messengers to them in Chaldea.

16  As soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers to them to the land of the Chaldeans,

M S
G
V

17  And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their lust; and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them.

17  And the sons of Babylon came to her, into the bed of rest, and they defiled her in her fornication, and she was defiled by them, and her soul was alienated from them.

17  And when the sons of Babylon had gone to her, to the bed of breasts, they defiled her with their fornications, and she was polluted by them, and her soul was gorged by them.

M G S
V

18  So she uncovered her harlotries, and uncovered her nakedness; then My soul was alienated from her, like as My soul was alienated from her sister.

18  Also, her fornications were uncovered, and her shame was revealed. And my soul withdrew from her, as my soul had withdrawn from her sister.

M S
G
V

19  Yet she multiplied her harlotries, remembering the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

19  And thou didst multiply thy fornication, so as to call to remembrance the days of thy youth, wherein thou didst commit whoredom in Egypt,

19  For she multiplied her fornications, remembering the days of her youth, in which she fornicated in the land of Egypt.

M G
V
S

20  And she doted upon concubinage with them, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

20  And she was mad with lust after lying with them, whose flesh is like the flesh of donkeys, and whose flow is like the flow of horses.

20  For she doted upon their servants, whose male organs are like those of asses, and whose privates are like those of horses.

M
G
V S

21  Thus thou didst call to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, when they from Egypt bruised thy breasts for the bosom of thy youth.

21  And thou didst look upon the iniquity of thy youth, the things which thou wroughtest in Egypt in thy lodgings, where were the breasts of thy youth.

21  And you have revisited the crimes of your youth, when your breasts were conquered in Egypt, and the breasts of your adolescence were subdued.

M G S
V

22  Therefore, O Oholibah, thus saith YHWH GOD: Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy soul is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side

22  Because of this, Oholibah, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will raise up against you all of your lovers, with whom your soul has been gorged. And I will gather them together against you all around

M S
G
V

23  the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, handsome young men, governors and rulers all of them, captains and councillors, all of them riding upon horses.

23  the children of Babylon, and all the Chaldeans, Phacuc, and Sue, and Hychue, and all the sons of the Assyrians with them; choice young men, governors and captains, all princes and renowned, riding on horses.

23  the sons of Babylon, and all the Chaldeans, the nobles, the sovereigns and princes, all the sons of the Assyrians, youths of exceptional form, all the rulers and magistrates, the leaders among leaders, and the renowned riders of horses.

M G S
V

24  And they shall come against thee with hosts, chariots, and wheels, and with an assembly of peoples; they shall set themselves in array against thee with buckler and shield and helmet round about; and I will commit the judgment unto them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.

24  And they will overwhelm you, well-equipped with chariot and wheel, a multitude of peoples. They will be armed against you on every side with armor and shield and helmet. And I will give judgment to their eyes, and they will judge you with their judgments.

M G
V
S

25  And I will set My jealousy against thee, and they shall deal with thee in fury; they shall take away thy nose and thine ears, and thy residue shall fall by the sword; they shall take thy sons and thy daughters, and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.

25  And against you, I will set my zeal, which they will execute upon you with fury. They will cut off your nose and your ears. And what remains will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and your daughters, and your youngest will be devoured by fire.

25  And I will set my indignation against you, and they shall crush your nose with fury and shall pluck out your ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword; they shall carry away your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by fire,

M S
G
V

26  They shall also strip thee of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.

26  And they shall strip thee of thy raiment, and take away thine ornaments.

26  And they will strip you of your vestments, and take away the articles of your glory.

M G S
V

27  Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy harlotry brought from the land of Egypt, so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.

27  And I will cause your wickedness to cease from you, and your fornication to cease from the land of Egypt. Neither shall you lift up your eyes toward them, and you shall no longer remember Egypt.

M
G
V S

28  For thus saith YHWH GOD: Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy soul is alienated;

28  Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hands of those whom thou hatest, from whom thy soul is alienated.

28  For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will deliver you into the hands of those whom you have hated, into the hands by which your soul has been gorged.

M G S
V

29  and they shall deal with thee in hatred, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare; and the nakedness of thy harlotries shall be uncovered, both thy lewdness and thy harlotries.

29  And they will act toward you with hatred, and they will take away all your labors, and they will send you away naked and filled with disgrace. And the shame of your fornication will be revealed: your crimes and your fornications.

M S
G
V

30  These things shall be done unto thee, for that thou hast gone astray after the nations, and because thou art polluted with their idols.

30  brought this upon thee, in that thou wentest a-whoring after the nations, and didst defile thyself with their devices.

30  They have done these things to you, because you have fornicated after the Gentiles, among whom you were defiled by their idols.

M
G
V S

31  In the way of thy sister hast thou walked; therefore will I give her cup into thy hand.

31  Thou didst walk in the way of thy sister; and I will put her cup into thine hands.

31  You have walked in the way of your sister, and so I will give her chalice into your hand.

32  Thus saith YHWH GOD: Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup, which is deep and large; thou shalt be for a scorn and a derision; it is full to the uttermost.

32  Thus saith the Lord; Drink thy sister’s cup, deep and large, and full, to cause complete drunkenness.

32  Thus says the Lord God: You will drink the chalice of your sister, deep and wide. You will be held in derision and in ridicule, to a very great extent.

M S
G
V

33  Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and appalment, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

33  And thou shalt be thoroughly weakened; and the cup of destruction, the cup of thy sister Samaria,

33  You will be filled with inebriation and sorrow, by the chalice of grief and sadness, by the chalice of your sister Samaria.

34  Thou shalt even drink it and drain it, and thou shalt craunch the sherds thereof, and shalt tear thy breasts; for I have spoken it, saith YHWH GOD.

34  drink thou it, and I will take away her feasts and her new moons: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord.

34  And you will drink it, and you will empty it, even to the dregs. And you will consume even its particles. And you will wound your own breasts. For I have spoken, says the Lord God.

M G
V
S

35  Therefore thus saith YHWH GOD: Because thou hast forgotten Me, and cast Me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy harlotries.'

35  Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Since you have forgotten me, and you have cast me behind your body, so also will you bear your wickedness and your fornications.”

35  Therefore thus says the LORD God: Because you have forgotten me and cast me off behind your idols, therefore you also shall bear your lewdness and your whoredoms.

M
G V
S

36  YHWH said moreover unto me: 'Son of man, wilt thou judge Oholah and Oholibah? then declare unto them their abominations.

36  And the Lord said to me, Son of man wilt thou not judge Oola and Ooliba? and declare to them their iniquities?

36  The LORD said to me, Son of man, now you can judge Ahlah and Ahlibah, and declare to them their abominations;

M G S
V

37  For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery; and their sons, whom they bore unto Me, they have also set apart unto them to be devoured.

37  For they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands, and they have fornicated with their idols. Moreover, they have offered even their children, whom they bore for me, to them to be devoured.

M V S
G

38  Moreover this they have done unto Me: they have defiled My sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned My sabbaths.

38  So long too as they did these things to me, they defiled my sanctuary, and profaned my sabbaths.

M S
G
V

39  For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into My sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of My house.

39  And when they sacrificed their children to their idols, they also went into my sanctuary to profane it: and whereas they did thus in the midst of my house;

39  And when they immolated their children to their idols, they also entered my sanctuary on the same day, so that they defiled it. They have done these things, even in the midst of my house.

M G S
V

40  And furthermore ye have sent for men that come from far; unto whom a messenger was sent, and, lo, they came; for whom thou didst wash thyself, paint thine eyes, and deck thyself with ornaments;

40  They sent for men who were coming from far away, to whom they had sent a messenger. And so, behold, they arrived, those for whom you washed yourself, and smeared cosmetics around your eyes, and were adorned with feminine ornaments.

M S
G

41  and sattest upon a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon thou didst set Mine incense and Mine oil.

41  and satest on a prepared bed, and before it there was a table set out, and as for mine incense and mine oil, they rejoiced in them,

41  You sat upon a very beautiful bed, and a table was adorned before you, on which you placed my incense and my ointment.

M V
G

42  And the voice of a multitude being at ease was therein; and for the sake of men, they were so many, brought drunken from the wilderness, they put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

42  and they raised a sound of music, and that with men coming from the wilderness out of a multitude of men, and they put bracelets on their hands, and a crown of glory on their heads;

42  And the sound of their merrymaking could be heard everywhere, and the voices of men who had come from Sheba and from the desert, who put bracelets upon their wrists, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

M G S
V

43  Then said I of her that was worn out by adulteries: Still they commit harlotries with her, even her.

43  And I said about her, as she was being worn away by her adulteries, ‘Even now, she continues in her fornication!’

M
G S
V

44  For every one went in unto her, as men go in unto a harlot; so went they in unto Oholah and unto Oholibah, the lewd women.

44  And they went in to her, as men go in to a harlot; so they went in to Oola and to Ooliba to work iniquity.

44  And they entered to her, as if to a kept woman. So did they enter to Oholah and Oholibah, nefarious women.

M G S
V

45  But righteous men, they shall judge them as adulteresses are judged, and as women that shed blood are judged; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.

45  But there are just men; these shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses and with the judgment of those who shed blood. For they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.

M
G
V S

46  For thus saith YHWH GOD: An assembly shall be brought up against them, and they shall be made a horror and a spoil.

46  Thus saith the Lord God, Bring up a multitude upon them, and send trouble and plunder into the midst of them.

46  For thus says the Lord God: Lead upon them a multitude, and hand them over to tumult and to pillaging.

M G S
V

47  And the assembly shall stone them with stones, and despatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

47  And may they be stoned with the stones of the peoples, and may they be pierced with their own swords. They will put to death their sons and daughters, and they will burn their houses with fire.

M S
G
V

48  Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.

48  And I will remove ungodliness out of the land, and all the women shall be instructed, and shall not do according to their ungodliness.

48  And I will take away wickedness from the land. And all women shall learn not to act according to their wickedness.

M G

49  And your lewdness shall be recompensed upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols; and ye shall know that I am YHWH GOD.'

49  And they will set your own crimes upon you, and you will bear the sins of your idols. And you shall know that I am the Lord God.”

24:1  And the word of YHWH came unto me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, saying

IN the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

24:2  'Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day; this selfsame day the king of Babylon hath invested Jerusalem.

Son of man, write for thyself daily from this day, on which the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem, even from this day.

24:3  And utter a parable concerning the rebellious house, and say unto them: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Set on the pot, set it on, and also pour water into it;

And speak a parable to the provoking house, and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord; Set on the caldron, and pour water into it

And you shall speak, through a proverb, a parable to the inciting house. And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Set out a cooking pot; set it out, I say, and put water into it.

M V

24:4  Gather into it the pieces belonging to it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

and put the pieces into it, every prime piece, the leg and shoulder taken off from the bones,

And put into it pieces of meat which are good and fat, a shoulder whose bone is broken from the choicest of the flock.

24:5  Take the choice of the flock, and pile also the bones under it; make it boil well, that the bones thereof may also be seethed in the midst of it.

which are taken from choice cattle, and burn the bones under them: her bones are boiled and cooked in the midst of her.

And burn also the bones under the pot, and make it boil well, and let the bones seethe in it.

M G S

24:6  Wherefore thus saith YHWH GOD: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose filth is therein, and whose filth is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; no lot is fallen upon it.

Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Woe to the city of blood, to the cooking pot that has rust in it, and whose rust has not gone out of it! Cast it out piece by piece! No lot has fallen upon it.

M G V S

So shall I bring my indignation over her, and take my vengeance. I have presented her blood upon the smoothest rock, so that it would not be covered.

M G

24:9  Therefore thus saith YHWH GOD: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great,

Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Woe to the city of blood, out of which I will make a great funeral pyre.

Therefore, thus says the LORD God: Woe to the bloody city! I will even enlarge the fireplace and increase the fuel,

12  There has been much sweat and labor, and yet its extensive rust has not gone out of it, not even by fire.

24:13  Because of thy filthy lewdness, because I have purged thee and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have satisfied My fury upon thee.

13  Her scum shall become shameful, because thou didst defile thyself: and what if thou shalt be purged no more until I have accomplished my wrath?

13  Your uncleanness is execrable. For I wanted to cleanse you, and you have not been cleansed from your filth. So then, neither will you be cleansed before I cause my indignation over you to cease.

14  I the Lord have spoken; and it shall come, and I will do it; I will not delay, neither will I have any mercy: I will judge thee, saith the Lord, according to thy ways, and according to thy devices: therefore will I judge thee according to thy bloodshed, and according to thy devices will I judge thee, thou unclean, notorious, and abundantly provoking one.

Because of this, his height was exalted above all the trees of the regions, and his groves were multiplied, and his own branches were elevated, because of the many waters.

31:6  All the fowls of heaven made their nests in its boughs, and all the beasts of the field did bring forth their young under its branches, and under its shadow dwelt all great nations.

All the birds of the sky made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches all the wild beasts of the field bred; the whole multitude of nations dwelt under his shadow.

And when he had extended his shadow, all the birds of the air made their nests in his branches, and all the beasts of the forest conceived their young under his foliage, and an assembly of the many peoples lived under his shadow.

31:7  Thus was it fair in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.

And he was fair in his height by reason of the multitude of his branches: for his roots were amidst much water.

And he was most beautiful in his greatness and in the expansion of his groves. For his root was near many waters.

31:8  The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the cypress-trees were not like its boughs, and the plane-trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like unto it in its beauty.

And such cypresses as this were in the paradise of God; and there were no pines like his shoots, and there were no firs like his branches: no tree in the paradise of God was like him in his beauty,

The cedars in the Paradise of God were not higher than he was. The spruce trees were not equal to his summit, and the plane trees were not equal to his fullness. No tree in the Paradise of God was similar to him or to his beauty.

31:9  I made it fair by the multitude of its branches; so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.

12  And ravaging strangers from the nations have destroyed him, and have cast him down upon the mountains: his branches fell in all the valleys, and his boughs were broken in every field of the land; and all the people of the nations are gone down from their shelter, and have laid him low.

33:21  And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying: 'The city is smitten.'

21  And it happened that, in the twelfth year of our transmigration, in the tenth month, on the fifth of the month, one who had fled from Jerusalem arrived saying, “The city has been laid waste.”

33:22  Now the hand of YHWH had been upon me in the evening, before he that was escaped came; and He had opened my mouth against his coming to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.

36:17  'Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings; their way before Me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.

17  Son of man, the house of Israel dwelt upon their land, and defiled it by their way, and with their idols, and with their uncleannesses; and their way was before me like the uncleanness of a removed woman.

17  “Son of man, the house of Israel lived on their own soil, and they defiled it with their ways and with their intentions. Their way, in my sight, became like the uncleanness of a menstruous woman.

36:18  Wherefore I poured out My fury upon them for the blood which they had shed upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols;

18  So I poured out my wrath upon them

18  And so I poured out my indignation upon them, because of the blood which they shed upon the land, and because they defiled it with their idols.

M G V S

36:19  and I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries; according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

36:20  And when they came unto the nations, whither they came, they profaned My holy name; in that men said of them: These are the people of YHWH, and are gone forth out of His land.

M S

36:21  But I had pity for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, whither they came.

21  but I spared them for the sake of my holy name, which the house of Israel profaned among the nations, among whom they went.

21  But I have spared my holy name, which the house of Israel has defiled among the Gentiles, to whom they entered.

M G S

36:22  Therefore say unto the house of Israel: Thus saith YHWH GOD: I do not this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, whither ye came.

22  For this reason, you shall say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: I will act, not for your sake, O house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have defiled among the Gentiles, to whom you entered.

M G V

36:23  And I will sanctify My great name, which hath been profaned among the nations, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am YHWH, saith YHWH GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

23  So that I may sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the Gentiles, which you have caused to be profaned among them; and the Gentiles shall know that I am the LORD, says the LORD God, when my name shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

M G S

36:24  For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

24  Certainly, I will take you away from the Gentiles, and I will gather you together from all the lands, and I will lead you into your own land.

M G V

36:25  And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

25  Then I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and I shall purify you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.

M G S

36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

26  And I will give to you a new heart, and I will place in you a new spirit. And I will take away the heart of stone from your body, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.

36:27  And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep Mine ordinances, and do them.

27  And I will place my Spirit in your midst. And I will act so that you may walk in my precepts and keep my judgments, and so that you may fulfill them.

M G V S

36:28  And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be My people, and I will be your God.

36:29  And I will save you from all your uncleannesses; and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

36:30  And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.

36:31  Then shall ye remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

M G

36:32  Not for your sake do I this, saith YHWH GOD, be it known unto you; be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.

32  It is not for your sakes that I will act, says the Lord God; let this be known to you. Be confounded and ashamed over your own ways, O house of Israel.

32  But you must know, it is not for your sake that I am doing these things, says the LORD God; now be ashamed and refrain from your evil ways, that you may not die, O house of Israel.

M G S

36:33  Thus saith YHWH GOD: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded.

33  Thus says the Lord God: In the day when I will have cleansed you from all your iniquities, and when I will have caused the cities to be inhabited, and when I will have restored the ruinous places,

M S

36:34  And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all that passed by.

34  and the desolate land shall be cultivated, whereas it was desolate in the eyes of every one that passed by.

M G S
V

36:35  And they shall say: This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.

35  then they shall say: ‘This uncultivated land has become a garden of delight, and the cities, which were deserted and destitute and overturned, have been settled and fortified.’

M S
G V

36:36  Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I YHWH have builded the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate; I the YHWH have spoken it, and I will do it.

36  And the nations, as many as shall have been left round about you, shall know that I the Lord have built the ruined cities and planted the waste lands: I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.

36:37  Thus saith YHWH GOD: I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

37  Thus saith the Lord God; Yet for this will I be sought by the house of Israel, to establish them; I will multiply them even men as sheep;

37  Thus says the Lord God: Even in this time, the house of Israel shall find me, so that I may act for them. I will multiply them like a flock of men,

37:1  The hand of YHWH was upon me, and the YHWH carried me out in a spirit, and set me down in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones;

And the hand of the Lord came upon me, and the Lord brought me forth by the Spirit, and set me in the midst of the plain, and it was full of human bones.

M S

37:2  and He caused me to pass by them round about, and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

And he led me round about them every way: and, behold, there were very many on the face of the plain, very dry.

M G S

37:3  And He said unto me: 'Son of man, can these bones live?' And I answered: 'O Lord GOD, Thou knowest.'

And he said to me, “Son of man, do you think that these bones will live?” And I said, “O Lord God, you know.”

M

37:4  Then He said unto me: 'Prophesy over these bones, and say unto them: O ye dry bones, hear the word of YHWH

37:5  Thus saith YHWH GOD unto these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.

Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will send spirit into you, and you shall live.

37:6  And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am YHWH.'

And I will set sinews upon you, and I will cause flesh to grow over you, and I will extend skin over you. And I will give you spirit, and you shall live. And you shall know that I am the Lord.”

37:7  So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a commotion, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.

And I prophesied, just as he had instructed me. But a noise occurred, as I was prophesying, and behold: a commotion. And the bones joined together, each one at its joint.

37:8  And I beheld, and, lo, there were sinews upon them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

And I looked, and behold, sinews and flesh grew upon them, and skin came upon them above: but there was not breath in them.

And I saw, and behold: sinews and flesh rose up over them; and skin was extended over them. But they had no spirit within them.

37:9  Then said He unto me: 'Prophesy unto the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.'

And he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord; Come from the four winds, and breathe upon these dead men, and let them live.

And he said to me: “Prophesy to the spirit! Prophesy, O son of man, and you shall say to the spirit: Thus says the Lord God: Approach, O spirit, from the four winds, and blow across these ones who were slain, and revive them.”

M G S

37:10  So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great host.

37:11  Then He said unto me: 'Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say: Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.

11  And the Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: and they say, Our bones are become dry, our hope has perished, we are quite spent.

11  And he said to me: “Son of man: All these bones are the house of Israel. They say: ‘Our bones are dried out, and our hope has perished, and we have been cut off.’

37:12  Therefore prophesy, and say unto them: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, O My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.

12  therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will open your tombs, and will bring you up out of your tombs, and will bring you into the land of Israel.

12  Because of this, prophesy, and you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your tombs, and I will lead you away from your sepulchers, O my people. And I will lead you into the land of Israel.
