Ezekiel 37:1–28

M V S
G

The hand of YHWH was upon me, and the YHWH carried me out in a spirit, and set me down in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones;

And the hand of the Lord came upon me, and the Lord brought me forth by the Spirit, and set me in the midst of the plain, and it was full of human bones.

M S
G V

and He caused me to pass by them round about, and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

And he led me round about them every way: and, behold, there were very many on the face of the plain, very dry.

M G S

And He said unto me: 'Son of man, can these bones live?' And I answered: 'O Lord GOD, Thou knowest.'

And he said to me, “Son of man, do you think that these bones will live?” And I said, “O Lord God, you know.”

Then He said unto me: 'Prophesy over these bones, and say unto them: O ye dry bones, hear the word of YHWH

And he said to me, Prophesy upon these bones, and thou shalt say to them, Ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

Thus saith YHWH GOD unto these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.

Thus saith the Lord to these bones; Behold, I will bring upon you the breath of life

Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will send spirit into you, and you shall live.

M G S

And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am YHWH.'

And I will set sinews upon you, and I will cause flesh to grow over you, and I will extend skin over you. And I will give you spirit, and you shall live. And you shall know that I am the Lord.”

So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a commotion, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.

And I prophesied, just as he had instructed me. But a noise occurred, as I was prophesying, and behold: a commotion. And the bones joined together, each one at its joint.

And I beheld, and, lo, there were sinews upon them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

And I looked, and behold, sinews and flesh grew upon them, and skin came upon them above: but there was not breath in them.

And I saw, and behold: sinews and flesh rose up over them; and skin was extended over them. But they had no spirit within them.

Then said He unto me: 'Prophesy unto the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.'

And he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord; Come from the four winds, and breathe upon these dead men, and let them live.

And he said to me: “Prophesy to the spirit! Prophesy, O son of man, and you shall say to the spirit: Thus says the Lord God: Approach, O spirit, from the four winds, and blow across these ones who were slain, and revive them.”

10  So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great host.

10  And I prophesied, just as he had instructed me. And spirit entered into them, and they lived. And they stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

11  Then He said unto me: 'Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say: Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.

11  And the Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: and they say, Our bones are become dry, our hope has perished, we are quite spent.

11  And he said to me: “Son of man: All these bones are the house of Israel. They say: ‘Our bones are dried out, and our hope has perished, and we have been cut off.’

12  Therefore prophesy, and say unto them: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, O My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.

12  therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will open your tombs, and will bring you up out of your tombs, and will bring you into the land of Israel.

12  Because of this, prophesy, and you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your tombs, and I will lead you away from your sepulchers, O my people. And I will lead you into the land of Israel.

M G

13  And ye shall know that I am YHWH, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, O My people.

13  And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have opened your sepulchers, and when I will have led you away from your tombs, O my people.

14  And I will put My spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I will place you in your own land; and ye shall know that I YHWH have spoken, and performed it, saith the YHWH.'

14  And I will place my Spirit within you, and you shall live. And I will cause you to rest upon your own soil. And you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken and acted, says the Lord God.”

16  'And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and of all the house of Israel his companions;

16  Son of man, take for thyself a rod, and write upon it, Juda, and the children of Israel his adherents; and thou shalt take for thyself another rod, and thou shalt inscribe it for Joseph, the rod of Ephraim, and all the children of Israel that belong to him.

16  “And as for you, son of man, take up a piece of wood for yourself, and write upon it: ‘For Judah, and for the sons of Israel, his companions.’ And take up another piece of wood, and write upon it: ‘For Joseph, the wood of Ephraim, and for the entire house of Israel, and for his companions.’

17  and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand.

17  And thou shalt joint them together for thyself, so as that they should bind themselves into one stick; and they shall be in thine hand.

17  And join these, one to the other, for yourself, as one piece of wood. And they will be united in your hand.

18  And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying: Wilt thou not tell us what thou meanest by these?

18  Then, when the sons of your people will speak to you, saying: ‘Will you not tell us what you intend by this?’

18  And if your people should say to you, Will you not show us what is the meaning of these sticks?

M G S

19  say into them: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them unto him together with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in My hand.

19  you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take up the wood of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, which are joined to him, and I will put them together with the wood of Judah, and I will make them one piece of wood. And they will be one in his hand.

20  And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thy hand before their eyes.

20  And the rods on which thou didst write shall be in thine hand in their presence.

20  Then the pieces of wood, on which you have written, will be in your hand, before their eyes.

21  And say unto them: Thus saith YHWH GOD: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, whither they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land;

21  And thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the whole house of Israel out of the midst of the nations, among whom they have gone, and I will gather them from all that are round about them, and I will bring them into the land of Israel.

21  And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take up the sons of Israel, from the midst of the nations to which they have gone, and I will gather them together on every side, and I will lead them onto their own soil.

22  and I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all;

23  neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them out of all their dwelling-places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them; so shall they be My people, and I will be their God.

23  that they may no more defile themselves with their idols; and I will deliver them from all their transgressions whereby they have sinned, and will cleanse them; and they shall be to me a people, and I the Lord will be to them a God.

23  And they will no longer be defiled by their idols, and by their abominations, and by all their iniquities. And I will save them, out of all the settlements in which they have sinned, and I will cleanse them. And they will be my people, and I will be their God.

24  And My servant David shall be king over them, and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk in Mine ordinances, and observe My statutes, and do them.

25  And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob My servant, wherein your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children's children, for ever; and David My servant shall be their prince for ever.

25  And they shall dwell in their land, which I have given to my servant Jacob, where their fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell upon it: and David my servant shall be their prince forever.

25  And they shall live upon the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived. And they shall live upon it, they and their sons, and the sons of their sons, even for all time. And David, my servant, shall be their leader, in perpetuity.

26  Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them--it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will establish them, and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in the midst of them for ever.

27  My dwelling-place also shall be over them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

27  And my tabernacle shall be among them; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be my people.
