1  I will bless YHWH at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

title  A Psalm of David, when he changed his countenance before Abimelech; and he let him go, and he departed.

1  I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall be continually in my mouth.

1  To David, when he changed his appearance in the sight of Abimelech, and so he dismissed him, and he went away.

2  I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise will be ever in my mouth.

2  My soul shall glory in YHWH; the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

2  My soul shall boast herself in the Lord: let the meek hear, and rejoice.

2  In the Lord, my soul will be praised. May the meek listen and rejoice.

3  O magnify YHWH with me, and let us exalt His name together.

3  Magnify ye the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

4  I sought YHWH, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

4  I sought the Lord diligently, and he hearkened to me, and delivered me from all my sojournings.

5  They looked unto Him, and were radiant; and their faces shall never be abashed.

5  Approach him and be enlightened, and your faces will not be confounded.

6  This poor man cried, and YHWH heard, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7  The angel of YHWH encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.

7  The host of angels of the LORD encamps round about them that worship him, and delivers them.

8  O consider and see that YHWH is good; happy is the man that taketh refuge in Him.

8  Taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man who hopes in him.

8  O taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man that trusts in him.

9  O fear YHWH, ye His holy ones; for there is no want to them that fear Him.

9  Fear the Lord, all ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

9  The rich have become poor and suffer hunger;

10  The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek YHWH want not any good thing.

10  The rich have become poor and hungry: but they that seek the Lord diligently shall not want any good thing. Pause.

10  They that seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me; I will teach you the fear of YHWH.

11  Come forward, sons. Listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

11  Come, you children, listen to me, and I will teach you reverence for the LORD.

12  Who is the man that desireth life, and loveth days, that he may see good therein?

12  What man is there that desires life, loving to see good days?

12  Which is the man who wills life, who chooses to see good days?

13  Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

13  Prohibit your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

14  Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

14  Turn away from evil, and do good. Inquire about peace, and pursue it.

15  The eyes of YHWH are toward the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.

16  The face of YHWH is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

16  but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to destroy their memorial from the earth. The righteous cried, and the Lord hearkened to them,

16  But the countenance of the Lord is upon those who do evil, to perish the remembrance of them from the earth.

17  They cried, and YHWH heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles.

17  and delivered them out of all their afflictions.

17  The just cried out, and the Lord heard them, and he freed them from all their tribulations.

18  YHWH is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

18  The Lord is near to them that are of a contrite heart; and will save the lowly in spirit.

19  Many are the ills of the righteous, but YHWH delivereth him out of them all.

20  He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken.

20  The Lord preserves all of their bones, not one of them shall be broken.

21  Evil shall kill the wicked; and they that hate the righteous shall be held guilty.

21  The death of sinners is evil: and they that hate righteousness will go wrong.

21  The death of a sinner is very harmful, and those who hate the just will fare badly.

22  YHWH redeemeth the soul of His servants; and none of them that take refuge in Him shall be desolate.

22  The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants: and none of those that hope in him shall go wrong.

22  The LORD redeems the soul of his servants, and none of them that trust in him shall be condemned.
