For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, with death let him die.'

For God said, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death.

‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Whoever will have cursed father or mother shall die a death.’

But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "[It is] a gift [to God], whatever profit you might have received from me"-

But you say, Whoever says to a father or to a mother, Whatever you may be benefited from me is Corban (my offering), he need not honor his father or his mother.

then by no means should he honor his father or mother.' Thus you have nullified the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition.

he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition.

So you have rendered useless the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and they honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me.

This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' "

But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men.

11  Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."

13  But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.

13  But in response he said: “Every plant which has not been planted by my heavenly Father shall be uprooted.

14  Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. And if the blind guides the blind, both will fall into a ditch."

16  And he said, Are ye also even yet without understanding?

17  Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach, and is cast out into a latrine?

17  Perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

17  Do you not know that what enters into the mouth goes into the stomach, and thence, through the intestines, is cast out?

18  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.

20  These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

21  And Jesus went out thence, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.

22  And behold, a Canaanite woman coming forth from that region cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed."

22  And behold, a woman of Canaan, going out from those parts, cried out, saying to him: “Take pity on me, Lord, Son of David. My daughter is badly afflicted by a demon.”

22  And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23  But He answered her not a word. And His disciples approached and urged Him, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us."

23  He did not say a word to her. And his disciples, drawing near, petitioned him, saying: “Dismiss her, for she is crying out after us.”

23  But he did not answer her. And his disciples came up to him and urged him, saying, Dismiss her, for she keeps crying aloud after us.

24  But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

24  And responding, he said, “I was not sent except to the sheep who have fallen away from the house of Israel.”

24  And he answered and said to them, I am not sent, except to the sheep which went astray from the house of Israel.

28  Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire."And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

29  And moving on from there, Jesus came alongside the Sea of Galilee, and going up into a mountain, He sat down there.

29  And Jesus departed thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

29  And when Jesus had passed from there, he arrived beside the sea of Galilee. And ascending onto a mountain, he sat down there.

30  And great crowds came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they put them down at Jesus' feet, and He healed them.

30  And a great many people came to him, who had with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at the feet of Jesus, and he healed them.

31  So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.

31  Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32  Now Jesus, having summoned His disciples, He said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been remaining with Me three days, and they do not have anything to eat. And I do not desire to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way."

32  Jesus then called his disciples and said to them, I have compassion for this people, for they have remained with me three days, and they have nothing to eat; and if I dismiss them fasting, they might faint on the way; but this I do not wish to do.

33  Then His disciples said to Him, "Where could we get so many loaves of bread in [this] deserted place, so as to satisfy so great a crowd?"

33  And the disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

16:2  He answered and said to them, "When evening comes you say, 'Fine weather, for the sky is red'.

But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, [It will be] fair weather: for the heaven is red.

But he responded by saying to them: “When evening arrives, you say, ‘It will be calm, for the sky is red,’

16:3  And in the morning, 'Today [will be ]stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' Hypocrites! Indeed you know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to-day: for the heaven is red and lowering. Ye know how to discern the face of the heaven; but ye cannot [discern] the signs of the times.

and in the morning, ‘Today there will be a storm, for the sky is red and gloomy.’ So then, you know how to judge the appearance of the sky, but you are unable to know the signs of the times?

16:4  An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah."And leaving them behind He went away.

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

16:5  Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they forgot to take bread.

When his disciples came to the crossing place, they had forgotten to take bread with them.

16:6  Then Jesus said to them, "Look out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees."

And Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, We took no bread.

Then Jesus, knowing this, said: “Why do you consider within yourselves, O little in faith, that it is because you have no bread?

16:13  When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He was questioning His disciples, saying, "Who do men pronounce Me, the Son of Man, to be?"

17  And in response, Jesus said to him: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father, who is in heaven.

16:18  And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I shall build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

16:20  Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

23  But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

16:24  Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

17:1  Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain in private;

And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart

And after six days, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and he led them onto a lofty mountain separately.

17:4  Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You desire, let us make here three tents: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

And Peter answered, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, I will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

17:5  While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice [came] out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"

And while he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud overshadowed them. And behold, there was a voice from the cloud, saying: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”

And while he was speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud saying, This is my beloved Son, I am pleased with him; hear him.

17:6  And when the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and they were greatly afraid.

And the disciples, hearing this, fell prone on their face, and they were very afraid.

When the disciples heard it, they threw themselves on their faces, and they were greatly frightened.

17:7  But Jesus approached and touched them and said, "Arise, and do not be afraid."

17:9  And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead."

17:10  And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

10  And his disciples questioned him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to arrive first?”

17:12  But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they desired. Thus also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them."

17:13  Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.

17:14  And when they came to the crowd, a man approached Him, kneeling to Him, and saying,

14  And when he had arrived at the multitude, a man approached him, falling to his knees before him, saying: “Lord, take pity on my son, for he is an epileptic, and he suffers harm. For he frequently falls into fire, and often also into water.

17:18  And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out from him; and the boy was healed from that very hour.

17:19  Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?"

17:20  So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Be moved from here to there,' and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible for you.

20  And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

20  Jesus said to them: “Because of your unbelief. Amen I say to you, certainly, if you will have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move. And nothing will be impossible for you.

17:21  However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."

17:24  When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the temple tax came to Peter and said, "Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?"

24  And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel?

24  And when they came to Capernaum, those who collect two coins of silver as headtax came to Peter and said to him, Would not your master give his two coins?

17:25  He said, "Yes."And when he entered into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?"

18:5  And whoever receives one such little child in My name, receives Me.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me

18:6  "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him that a huge millstone be hanged on his neck, and he be drowned in the depth of the sea.

But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and [that] he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Woe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! for it must needs be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion cometh!

Woe to a world that leads people astray! Although it is necessary for temptations to arise, nevertheless: Woe to that man through whom temptation arises!

18:8  And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut them off and cast [them] from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, than having two hands or two feet, to be thrown into the eternal fire.

18:9  And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, than having two eyes, to be thrown into the fiery hell.

And if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.

And if your eye offends you, remove it and throw it away from you; it is better for you to go through life with one eye, rather than having two eyes and fall into the gehenna of fire.

12  How does it seem to you? If someone has one hundred sheep, and if one of them has gone astray, should he not leave behind the ninety-nine in the mountains, and go out to seek what has gone astray?
