1 A Psalm of David. YHWH is my shepherd; I shall not want.
1 THE LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
2 In a place of green grass, there he has made me dwell: he has nourished me by the water of rest.
2 He has settled me here, in a place of pasture. He has led me out to the water of refreshment.
3 He restoreth my soul; He guideth me in straight paths for His name's sake.
3 He has restored my soul: he has guided me into the paths of righteousness, for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
4 Yea, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will not be afraid of evils: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, these have comforted me.
4 For, even if I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils. For you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they have given me consolation.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
5 Thou has prepared a table before me in presence of them that afflict me: thou hast thoroughly anointed my head with oil; and thy cup cheers me like the best wine.
5 You have prepared a table in my sight, opposite those who trouble me. You have anointed my head with oil, and my cup, which inebriates me, how brilliant it is!
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of YHWH for ever.
6 Thy mercy also shall follow me all the days of my life: and my dwelling shall be in the house of the Lord for a very long time.
6 And your mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and so may I dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.
