1 Hallelujah. O give thanks unto YHWH; for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
title Alleluia.
1 Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.
1 PRAISE the Lord. O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy endures for ever.
2 Who can express the mighty acts of YHWH, or make all His praise to be heard?
2 Who shall tell the mighty acts of the Lord? who shall cause all his praises to be heard?
2 Who will declare the powers of the Lord? Who make a hearing for all his praises?
3 Happy are they that keep justice, that do righteousness at all times.
3 Blessed are they that keep judgement, and do righteousness at all times.
4 Remember me, O YHWH, when Thou favourest Thy people; O think of me at Thy salvation;
4 Remember us, O Lord, with the favour thou hast to thy people: visit us with thy salvation;
5 That I may behold the prosperity of Thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Thy nation, that I may glory with Thine inheritance.
5 so that we may see the goodness of your elect, so that we may rejoice in the joy of your nation, so that you may be praised along with your inheritance.
5 That we may see the good of thy chosen, that we may rejoice in thy joy, and be glorified with thine inheritance.
6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have done iniquitously, we have dealt wickedly.
7 Our fathers in Egypt gave no heed unto Thy wonders; they remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies; but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.
7 Our fathers did not understand your miracles in Egypt. They did not remember the multitude of your mercies. And they provoked you, while going up to the sea, even the Red Sea.
8 Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, that He might make His mighty power to be known.
8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might cause his mighty power to be known.
8 And he saved them for the sake of his name, so that he might make known his power.
9 And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; and He led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.
9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10 And He saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 And the waters covered their adversaries; there was not one of them left.
11 The water covered those that oppressed them: there was not one of them left.
12 Then believed they His words; they sang His praise.
12 And they believed his words, and they sang his praises.
13 They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel;
13 As soon as they had finished, they forgot his works, and they would not endure his counsel.
13 But they soon forgot God; they trusted not in his counsel,
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tried God in the desert.
14 And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the dry land.
14 And they coveted their desire in the desert, and they tempted God in a waterless place.
15 And He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
16 They were jealous also of Moses in the camp, and of Aaron the holy one of YHWH.
16 They provoked Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord.
16 They plotted against Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
