Psalms 38:3–23

There is no soundness in my flesh because of Thine indignation; neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.

For there is no health in my flesh because of thine anger; there is no peace to my bones because of my sins.

Ps37:3  There is no health in my flesh before the face of your wrath. There is no peace for my bones before the face of my sins.

For mine iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

For my transgressions have gone over mine head: they have pressed heavily upon me like a weighty burden.

Ps37:4  For my iniquities have walked over my head, and they have been like a heavy burden weighing upon me.

My wounds are noisome, they fester, because of my foolishness.

My bruises have become noisome and corrupt, because of my foolishness.

Ps37:5  My sores have putrefied and been corrupted before the face of my foolishness.

I am bent and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day.

I have been wretched and bowed down continually: I went with a mourning countenance all the day.

Ps37:6  I have become miserable, and I have been bent down, even to the end. I have walked with contrition all day long.

For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh.

Ps37:7  For my loins have been filled with illusions, and there is no health in my flesh.

My loins are filled with trembling, and there is no peace in my body.

I am benumbed and sore crushed; I groan by reason of the moaning of my heart.

I have been afflicted and brought down exceedingly: I have roared for the groaning of my heart.

I am feeble and miserable; I have groaned because of the despair of my heart.

Lord, all my desire is before Thee; and my sighing is not hid from Thee.

But all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hidden from thee.

Ps37:9  O Lord, all my desire is before you, and my groaning before you has not been hidden.

10  My heart fluttereth, my strength faileth me; as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.

10  My heart is troubled, my strength has failed me; and the light of mine eyes is not with me.

Ps37:10  My heart has been disturbed. My strength has abandoned me, and the light of my eyes has abandoned me, and it is not with me.

11  My friends and my companions stand aloof from my plague; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

Ps37:11  My friends and my neighbors have drawn near and stood against me. And those who were next to me stood far apart. And those who sought my soul used violence.

11  My neighbors and my friends stood aside from my grief; and my kinsmen stood off.

12  They also that seek after my life lay snares for me; and they that seek my hurt speak crafty devices, and utter deceits all the day.

12  While they pressed hard upon me that sought my soul: and they that sought my hurt spoke vanities, and devised deceits all the day.

Ps37:12  And those who sought evil accusations against me were speaking emptiness. And they practiced deceitfulness all day long.

13  But I am as a deaf man, I hear not; and I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

13  But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and was as a dumb man not opening his mouth.

Ps37:13  But, like someone deaf, I did not hear. And I was like someone mute, not opening his mouth.

14  Yea, I am become as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no arguments.

14  And I was as a man that hears not, and who has no reproofs in his mouth.

Ps37:14  And I became like a man who does not hear, and who has no reproofs in his mouth.

15  For in Thee, O YHWH, do I hope; Thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.

Ps37:15  For in you, Lord, I have hoped. You will listen to me, O Lord my God.

16  For I said: 'Lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.'

Ps37:16  For I said, “Lest at any time, my enemies might rejoice over me,” and, “While my feet are being shaken, they have spoken great things against me.”

16  Because I said, Hear me, lest they rejoice over me; they scoff at me when my feet waver.

17  For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.

Ps37:17  For I have been prepared for scourges, and my sorrow is ever before me.

17  I am prepared to suffer, and my sorrow is continually with me.

18  For I do declare mine iniquity; I am full of care because of my sin.

Ps37:18  For I will announce my iniquity, and I will think about my sin.

19  But mine enemies are strong in health; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

Ps37:19  But my enemies live, and they have been stronger than me. And those who have wrongfully hated me have been multiplied.

20  They also that repay evil for good are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good.

20  They that reward evil for good slandered me; because I followed righteousness.

Ps37:20  Those who render evil for good have dragged me down, because I followed goodness.

21  Forsake me not, O YHWH; O my God, be not far from me.

Ps37:21  Do not forsake me, O Lord my God. Do not depart from me.

22  Make haste to help me, O YHWH, my salvation.

22  Draw nigh to my help, O Lord of my salvation.

22  Abide to help me and save me.
